The study of teachers' cognitions forms a part of the process of understanding how teachers conceptualize their work (Hassankiadeh, 2012). Therefore, this study attempted to investigate the cognitions the Indonesian EFL teachers hold about vocabulary instruction along with analyzing reflected cognitions in their teaching practices in classroom context. This qualitative study used semi-structured interview and direct classroom observation to obtain the data from four Indonesian EFL teachers of senior high school. It was revealed that the teachers have well-developed cognitions about EFL vocabulary instruction. It is shown from their beliefs, understanding, and perceptions about the role of vocabulary, its importance in EFL teaching and learning including what words are taught and how words are taught. Moreover, some aspects of their cognitions about vocabulary teaching emerge to be in congruence with their vocabulary teaching practices although some inconsistencies have been identified as well.

This study was qualitative in nature, using 10 members of English Club of English department students, Mulawarman University as the participants. The procedures of data collecting were videotape recording observation and semistructure interview. The data were analyzed by using conversational analysis and percentage frequencies. The result revealed that: 1) the kinds of turn-taking mostly used by the participants were adjacency pair and insertion sequence from the sequence type of turn-taking, almost all kinds turn-taking from the overlap turntaking except the third party mediation, and other-repair and self-repair from the repair turn-taking; 2) all members of the English Club felt they acquired their languages as they practiced them in either written and spoken communication; and 3) the female members dominated talk than the male ones.

However, little is known about the relationships between these two affective variables and learners' performance while speaking. As a result, the current research aims to determine: EFL learners' self-efficacy, foreign language learning anxiety (FLLA), speaking performance, and the relationship between speaking performance and self-efficacy, speaking performance and FLLA, and selfefficacy and FLLA. Methodology: This research enlisted the participation of seventy sixth-semester students. Three testing instruments were used: a self-efficacy questionnaire, an FLLA questionnaire, and one speech test to assess students' speaking abilities. Findings: Based on these findings, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected while accepting the alternative hypothesis (Ha). As a result, there was a substantial positive association between speaking success and self-efficacy, as well as a negative correlation between speaking performance and FLLA and self-efficacy and FLLA. It means that students with high-level speaking performance will have high-level of self-efficacy. Then, the higher students' speaking performance is, the lower their FLLA becomes. It is in line with the correlation between students' selfefficacy and FLLA, that students with high-level of self-efficacy would have low FLLA. Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, self-efficacy and FLLA were both positively and negatively related to speaking performance. When the two affective variables were correlated to see whether they had a meaningful relationship, it was discovered that the relationship was both negative and important.

This study aims to find out: 1) What types of speech style the EFL high school teachers speak in the classroom, and 2) What communication purposes the EFL teachers provide through particular types of speech styles in a classroom setting. By observing and interviewing two English teachers of a high school in Samarinda, it was revealed that the teachers generally applied three types of speech styles in their teaching practice, including formal, casual, and consultative. Age and teaching experience caused the different use of speech styles among the participants. Moreover, each speech style is diverse one another depending on their communicative purposes.
