This study is addressing the utilization of video materials as an essential strategy in the proce... more This study is addressing the utilization of video materials as an essential strategy in the process of materials design within the area of EFL/ESL teaching. The study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the utilization of video materials in EFL classroom, and exploring the reason(s) of incorporating video materials into the EFL classroom from the perspectives of teachers and students. The study draws on the paradigm of interpretivism employing its epistemology and philosophy as an underpinning stance. For gaining thick information, the researcher used the method of semi-structured interviews with teacher and student sample. Interpretations of data showed that teachers and students as well are highly interested in the utilization of video materials in the EFL classroom due to certain reasons. Based on the findings of data analysis, the study offers a number of implications and suggestions that are of value for teachers who are involved in the process of ELT.

Based on students’ views, blended learning theories, and several previous studies, the study also aims to develop a holistic contextualized flipped learning model that helps both students and teachers in the context of EAP to cope with the challenges of a multilevel EAP classroom. The study is guided by the epistemology and philosophy of the interpretive paradigm as an underpinning stance. Accordingly, the qualitative approach has been selected for determining the strategy and methods of sampling, and data collection and data analysis. Course design is viewed as the foundation of the curriculum development process that contributes ... more Course design is viewed as the foundation of the curriculum development process that contributes to shaping and guiding the subsequent stages of teaching and assessment. The study is a qualitative case study that aims to explore the factors that have influential effects on the efficiency of the process of course design from the perspectives of teachers who design their courses in a college context in Oman. It also aims to explore how these factors affect course design. The study draws on the philosophy and epistemology of the interpretive paradigm that shapes and guides its methodology, methods of data collection, and analysis of data. Findings of study show that there is a variety of factors that affect course design. These factors canbe categorized into two major categories, Student and Institutional Factors. Based on the findings of data analysis, the study offers a number of implications that are of value for those who are involved in the process of course design, particularly in the current context.
