Our motivation for this research is the belief that blind users cannot participate effectively in routine Web-based activities due to the lack of Web accessibility and usability for non-visual interaction. We take a cognitive, user-centered, task-oriented approach to develop an understanding of accessibility and usability problems that blind users face in Web interactions. This understanding is critically needed to determine accessibility and usability requirements for non-visual Web interaction. We employ verbal protocol analysis for an in-depth examination of difficulties participants face in completing an online assessment through a course management system. We analyze the problems that hinder accessibility and usability and explain the nature of these problems in terms of design principles. Absent theory, there is little to guide organizations to discover the motivational, discursive, or other aspects of social media that can inform their strategy. This paper presents a revelatory case to develop an empirically-based understanding of organizational engagement in social media to motivate strategic directed actions aligned with organizational goals, and provides a strong socio-theoretic foundation for further work to integrate extant organizational and management theory with strategies attuned to specific attributes and characteristics of social media.

Recent studies demonstrate how business-to-consumer (B-C) organizations can benefit by engaging with consumers through social media.2 To date, however, there is little guidance on how business-to-business (B-B) organizations can engage with stakeholders through social media to derive strategic benefit. The B-B social media space contains multiple important stakeholders for an organization, including current and potential customers, potential employees, shareholders, competitors, industry thought influencers and casual observers. Meaningful and focused social media conversations on ideas or issues of mutual interest to an organization and its stakeholders form the basis for strategic engagement. Organizations can engage with stakeholders via social media in a way that allows them to manage their brand and influence demand for their products and services, impact overall market directions and guide future strategy.3

User Driven Health Care offers the dynamic integration of patient values and evidence based solutions for improved medical communication in medical care. Introduction: This paper conceptualizes patient care-coordination through the lens of engaged stakeholders using digital infrastructures tools to integrate information technology. We distinguish this lens from the prevalent conceptualization of dyadic ties between clinician-patient, patient-nurse, clinician-nurse, and offer the holistic integration of all stakeholder inputs, in the clinic and augmented by online communication in a multi-national setting. Methods: We analyze an instance of the user-driven health care (UDHC), a network of providers, patients, stud...

The finite aquifer consists of two rectangular basins surrounded by open water bodies and shares a common impermeable or permeable boundary at the mid plane. The governing equations are solved by applying the Laplace transform and finite Fourier sine transform techniques. Accordingly, analytical expressions for water heads for two rectangular basins are obtained for various scenarios. The applicability of the solutions has been illustrated with the help of a case study and numerical examples, considering various cases. The region wise development of the groundwater mound indicates that the effect of heterogeneity becomes significant for small time duration whereas for long time it becomes insignificant. This result can have application in land reclamation problems...

From the theoretical underpinnings of interest-based homophily, action theory, and social movement theory, we propose a conceptual framework and analytics to consider the question "how can organizations motivate strategic directed action from participants within social media to accomplish organizational goals?" We discuss the theories of interest-based homophilies to identify and explain how organizations can develop information based analytics appropriate to motivate strategic action in social media using similar approaches to those utilized by social movement and social movement framing. There has been little theorizing on the nature and structuration of social media from which appropriate directed action can be strategically conceptualized. This paper presents novel theoretical foundations from which to understand social media and develop effective strategies to advance organizational interests.
