migrants or children of migrants from the country’s interior. Men and women
maintain ties with their families’ places of origin, coming and going regularly as part
of trade circuits or simply visiting, sharing important moments of family life. They are
also closely involved in the dynamics of the Haitian diaspora abroad: they travel to
other countries, help to organize and finance the travels of their partners, children,
other family members and friends, and receive money transfers and other items as
help from those living abroad.
