Palabras clave Temporalidad, metáfora, semiótica, viento, triple mimesis, estoraques. abstract the metaPhor of temPorality in estoraques, by edUardo cote lamUs This work, which makes part of the semotic research approach, intends to briefly present some ideas on the possibility of considering the work Estoraques, by Colombian poet Eduardo Cote Lamus, as a metaphor of temporality. In this study, a semiotic approach of the poem Estoraques is seen, especially a stanza that considers "men" craftsmen of time. For this semiotic analysis, these verses were selected due to the fact that, in them, it is possible to see the distance set between the authorial voice and their own species by mentioning "men" and by referring to "them" as time makers, which presupposes a subjective view as time only exists in and because of conscience.

VL is a potential risk for human health and regarding the economical loss as a result of the disease, endemic areas should be recognized the effective implementation of control measures, and detailed epidemiological surveys should be performed in an attempt to obtain information about the incidence and prevalence of the disease in locations where the disease is diagnosed. Besides, in our country, most of the traveling has been drifted to areas dominating Mediterranean climate increasing the importance of investigations on visceral leishmaniais in Aegean region. In this study, it was aimed to determine the seroprevalence of the infection from Selçuk/İzmir, Turgutlu/Manisa, Aydın city province, Kuşadası/Aydın, Marmaris/Muğla, Bodrum/Muğla in stray dogs that are regarded as the main reservoirs for Visceral Leishmaniasis. For this purpose, anti-leishmania antibodies were determined with immunofluorence antibody diagnostic prosedure in serum samples obtained from untreated and unprotected 300 stray dogs located in these settlements. According to the results of the study 27 (9%) out of a total 300 dogs were infected with canine visceral leishmaniasis (CanL). It was considered that the result of this study may be used as a reference for further studies regarding human and dogs residing in Turkey..

The results of an assessment of soil degradation in the Canary Islands, the processes, causes and impacts, are presented in this paper. Although several processes and factors contribute to soil degradation in the Canary Islands, two have been found to exert a greater qualitative influence: (a) accelerated erosion (water and aeolian); (b) salinization-sodification (natural and induced by agricultural use). Approximately 40 per cent of the Canary Islands' land is undergoing rapid erosion. The factors involved may be grouped into: natural erosion-torrential rainfall, sparse vegetation, high soil erodibility, rugged relief; and erosion due to human activities-unsuitable management of arable soils on the steep slopes, overgrazing and deforestation. About 60 per cent of the surface of the archipelago, including areas given over to intensive agriculture, is affected by salinization. The main factors responsible are: natural-an arid climate and a regime of oceanic winds; and human activitiesoverexploitation of the aquifers, irrigation with water having a high salt and/or sodium content, intensive monoculture, and excessive and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and other agrochemicals.

The ALICE ITS, Inner Tracking System, consists of six cylindrical layers of silicon detectors with three different technologies; in the outward direction: two layers of pixel detectors, two layers each of drift, and strip detectors. The number of parameters to be determined in the spatial alignment of the 2198 sensor ...

Research paper thumbnail of Groundwater origin and recharge in the hyperarid Cordillera de la Costa, Atacama Desert, northern Chile

Chemical and isotopic analyses of several small coastal springs and groundwater reservoirs between 22.5 °S and 25.5 °S allow understanding groundwater origin, renewal time and the probable timing of recharge. The aquifers are mostly in old volcanic rocks and alluvial deposits. All spring waters are brackish, of the sodium chloride type due to intensive concentration of precipitation due aridity and for deep groundwater to additional water-rock interaction in slowly renewed groundwater and mixing with deep seated brines. The heavy δ18O and δ2H values in spring water are explained by recharge by the arrival of moist air masses from the Pacific Ocean and the originally lighter values in the deep wells can be associated to past recharge by air masses coming from the Atlantic Ocean. Current recharge is assumed almost nil but it was significant in past wetter-than-present per...
