Study Design: Simple cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Kristen Indonesia, Jakarta- Indonesia, throughout August 2022. Methodology: Analysis of demographics data, gender and place of residence, of the cramming and non-cramming students, with the results of total 36 remedial exam scores for courses/block in the second, fourth, and sixth semesters. Results: Out of 2413, 739 (30.62%) were male and 1674 (69.37%) were female, and 1054 (43.68%) live in boarding houses and 1359 (56.31%) live in their own private house. Cramming conducted by 1553 students (64.35%) consisting of 505 males (32.51%) and 1049 female (67.54%). Based on the total number of participants taking the remedial exam, the prevalence of c...

Hypertension is characterized by systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg and diastolic 90 mmHg (according to JNC VIII). Uncontrolled hypertension can lead to complications such as stroke, ischemic heart disease, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, blindness, etc. According to Basic Health Research (Riskesdas 2018) the prevalence of hypertension for >18 years is 8.4%, and through measurements taken in health care facilities by 34.1%. Prevalence in the city was 34.4%, in the village was 33.7%, while according to gender 31.3% (male) and 36.9% (female). The purpose of the study was to find out the knowledge and awareness of laypeople on hypertension and its therapy. This was a cross-sectional online study with 11 questions. Respondents were recruited from social media groups. Results: five hundred respondents (62.8 % female, 37.2 % male). The most age range at the age 21-40 years (36.2 %), 41...

High recurrence rates and increasing antimicrobial resistance among uropathogens threaten to greatly increase the economic burden of these infections. This study aimed to measure the lowest concentration of Moringa oleifera Lam. Leaf that did not show any growth of the tested microorganisms. Methods: The antibacterial activity test was adapted from the CLSI broth microdilution assay, with minor modifications, were used for the evaluation of the antibacterial activity of M. oleifera extracts against tested bacteria. Three concentrations higher than the MIC standard were cultured on the MHA. The lowest concentration on agar which was not found any growth of the bacterial colonies was determined as the MBC. Results: The antibacterial ...

Factors associated with death and ICU referral were evaluated. Methods : This is a retrospective cohort study of hospitalized COVID-19 patients confirmed by real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Logistic regression was used to evaluate the associations between demographic and clinical characteristics with the outcomes. Results : A total of 477 patients have been hospitalized from October 2020 - February 2021, 112 patients were over 60 years old and 58.2% were women. There were 299 (62.7%) patients with clinical improvement and negative RT-PCR at discharge, 145 (30.4%) patients with clinical improvement and positive RT-PCR at discharge, 14 (2.9%) patients referred to ICU, and 19 (4%) patients died. The most common clinical symptoms were fever, cough, nausea and vomiting, and shortness of breath. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed age ≥60 years old, shortness of breath, obesity, oxygen saturation <95%, leukocyte count >10,000/L, and moderate-severe COVID-19 at admission were strongly associated with death or referral to ICU. Conclusion : Patients aged over 60 years old with obesity, low peripheral oxygen saturation, high leucocyte count, shortness of breath and moderate-severe COVID-19 at admission had higher risks of death or referred to ICU.

To some extent, faculty administrator had to improvisize in order to make adjustment, from the formerly class based lecture in to modified long distance/online lecture. This study aimed to measure the impact of COVID-19 on the medical education by asking the student’s perception on the practice of long distance learning delivered during this pandemi. Methods: The study held in Jakarta, Indonesia from the 1st until 3rd week of May 2020, after previously being approved by the faculty ethical committe. This is a simple survey based cross sectional study design using electronic questionairre which was arranged based on the result of previously conducted small focus group discussion and in-depth interview carried out on a number of selected students and lecturers. This study aims to determine the antioxidant potential of kabau seeds using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picril hidrazil (DPPH) and ferric reducing ability power (FRAP) methods and to identify active compounds of kabau seeds using GC-MS. Kabau seeds were macerated using 70% ethanol and 99.9% ethanol. The results showed that 99.9% ethanol extract of kabau seed coat had the highest antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 26.75 ppm for the DPPH method and 121.55 ppm for the FRAP method, respectively. Identification of active compounds using GC-MS showed that 99.9% ethanol extract of kabau seed coat contained the most 9,12-octadecadienoic acid compounds (linoleic acid) so that it could be developed as an antioxidant.
