Remote sensing is an effective mapping technique such as those depicting land cover as it provides a map-like representation of the Earth’s surface that is spatially highly consistent. This study compared the classification accuracies of land cover/land use maps created from Sentinel-2 and ASTER imagery with the Kalimanah Sub-district as a research area. Both images are clustered into 52 spectral clusters using Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) and K-means unsupervised classification algorithm. Each spectral cluster from each image was assigned into four land use/land cover classes, i.e. urban, agricultural, forest, and barren land. 240 data references were generated from Google Earth imagery as the sample data set is compared with the classification maps that is being assessed. With the kappa analysis approach, error matrices are made based on the same data references for each of th...

To regulate the spatial planning, the Sleman Regency Government has issued Sleman Regency Regional Regulation Number 12 of 2012 about the Sleman Regency Regional Spatial Planning. Pakem District is one of the areas included in that spatial planning law. This study aims to classify the land cover of forest, farm, rice field, building, and open land in the Pakem District using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. The land classification method was the maximum likelihood method and the accuracy testing methods were confusion matrix method and kappa value test. Classification accuracy test results in 92% overall accuracy values and 0.9157 kappa coefficient values, so that accuracy results of the Sentinel-2 satellite image classification can be used as a land classification map with very good accuracy. The area of each land classification classes ...

To accelerate the availability of village maps, a participatory mapping method was carried out so the community could determine the acquisition and utilization of mapping data according to their own needs. Through this research, Toyareka Village became one of the areas that were mapped using Google Earth Pro's very high-resolution image and remote sensing technique. This research method through the two steps i.e. the preparation and presentation steps. The Delineation step involves collecting various data processes about the map elements from the field observation and the interview process with the village government. The map elements which were obtained are toponymy; village boundary; transportation network/infrastructure; waters (rivers); along with the facilities and ...
