This research work will consider the cases in which there already exists some infrastructure for the smart city operations. NBIoT is used to improve the overall functions and to ease the process of resource management. Smart city initiatives are extremely popular in the developed world. In the developing countries too, it gains popularity in the recent years. There are a lot of tasks in the smart city initiatives. It covers the basic services such as water and electricity distribution, maintenance of streetlights, city traffic management, garbage management, and support in effective policing. It also provides the advanced services such as the safety and surveillance monitoring, smart healthcare, location and tracking based services, and smart vehicular networking services. Several information and communication technology-based services are used to assist in these functions. It has been found that IoT is exemplary in these service provision operations. For large scale deployment of IoT a lot of resources are needed. Now, it is well known that NBIoT is one of the resource efficient versions of IoT. It is suitable for large scale deployment in projects like smart cities and smart grids. This article shows that, NBIoT can assist in the smart city functions to a large extent.

In the modern times, PA uses a large number of sensors in a networked architecture to collect the information on the exact needs of the plants and their productivities. With the arrival of Internet of things (IoT), now PA can be implemented quite systematically. Undoubtedly, agriculture is one of the most important economic sectors of the world. For the developing countries, it is an essential sector. Agriculture is directly associated with the daily needs of human being such as food, clothing, and shelter. In the recent years, developing countries are facing a lot of difficulties in the agriculture related aspects such as lack of water for irrigation, desertification of fertile land, and reduction in harvests. PA can ease these problems through the use of IoT based applications. In this paper, we provide the recent frameworks of PA using IoT. We show how it can help the agricultural sectors of the developing countries in the long term.

A large number of machines, devices and people are connected with each other through different communication frameworks. Since the data is huge in amount and takes a large storage space, it is named as big data. Such big amount data cannot be analyzed using the traditional methods of data analysis. Big data analysis needs new methods and approaches to handle their complexities. Numerous methods have been developed in the recent years to process this large amount of data. The data can be stored in cloud anytime and can also be retrieved from cloud anytime based on the requirements. As an alternative for data analysis and computing various attempts have been made using new tools. Augmented reality (AR) is an extended feature of virtual reality and it is helpful in visualizing huge amount of data obtained from heterogeneous sectors in a simpler manner. There are a few digitized tools available these days with the help of which process of visualization can be made faster. The scheme of convergence of both the tools (i.e., big data and AR) results in productive applications that are better than a few of existing technologies. This article provides a detailed study on big data, AR, and the utilities of big data using AR. Also, this research work has gone through the foreseeable future scopes and the main issues and challenges associated with AR based big data analysis.

The waveforms proposed for 5G are very much different from those of 4G and 4.5G. It is primarily due to the existing demerits of the 4G/4.5G waveforms. There are also several additional reasons why 5G should have new waveforms. Energy efficiency of 5G technologies are intended to be exemplary. In this paper, we discuss the proposed 5G waveforms and their energy efficiency issues. We compare their overall efficacy in the cellular ambient environments.

However, in the recent years, it is found that maintaining that trend is very difficult. In this paper, we present and discuss different prospects of the current data rate trends in optical fibers. We analyze Keck's law and its success during the last 40 years. In the later part, we also present its prospects for the future. We show different solutions in sight to stay tuned with Keck's law.

Feeding system plays an important role to increase the number of bands(3).One of the original excitation methods for the microstrip patch antenna is edge fed or microstrip line fed technique. The proposed antenna structure consist of a I-shaped microstrip feed line and open slots of very small size in ground. Offset Feed increases overall performance of antenna to fulfill requirements of multiband communication. Further relationship of slots cut in ground to bandwidth performance has been analyzed.

Water is the most vital resource for living beings because there is no life without water as cellular activities never occur. Water is essential for the socio-economic development of human beings. Industrialization, urbanization, population explosion and green revolution have deteriorated the various sources of water. Keeping these points in mind, this study is designed to comparatively analyze the water quality of river Asan at upstream and downstream sites.
In this work, multiscale covariance analysis is proposed for multilead electrocardiogram signals ... more In this work, multiscale covariance analysis is proposed for multilead electrocardiogram signals to detect myocardial infarction (MI). Due to multiresolution decomposition, diagnostically important clinical components are grossly segmented at different scales. If multiscale multivariate matrices are formed using all ECG leads and subjected to covariance analysis at wavelet scales, covariances change from normal as MI evolves. This is due to the underlying pathology which is seen in few ECG leads. To capture the changes that occur during infarction, multiscale multivariate distortion metric is applied on covariance structures. To evaluate the proposed method, data sets are adopted from PTB diagnostic ECG database. This includes healthy control (HC), myocardial infarction in early stage (MIES), and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The results show that the proposed method can detect the pathological MI subjects. For MI detection, the accuracy, the sensitivity, and the specificity is...

In the new Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm, its importance has become even more critical. These services are used to obtain the current location of the mobile phones and other connected devices. LBSs facilitate access to the sensor enabled information around the locations of the connected devices. There are several LBSs in existence such as satellite based positioning which is commonly known as global positioning system (GPS), cellular network based positioning, wireless network based positioning, indoor positioning and several hybrid systems. In the recent years, we have seen the emergence of IoT which can be provided over the cellular and wireless systems as value added services. It has several features which can enable the new initiatives in LBSs. In this paper, we present the recent trends and advances in these technologies. We also present its future prospects.

All these aspects are going to be real in the frameworks of the fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks. 5G-based narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) networks have the capability to serve various innovative IoT applications at a great extent. NB-IoT is third generation partnership project (3GPP) standardized low power wide area (LPWA) technology which is designed for IoT devices requiring long battery life, low cost, worldwide coverage, and high system capacity. To improve the performance, 3GPP has agreed that the NB-IoT will continue evolving as part of the 5G specifications. NB-IoT along with 5G will work in several connected living applications. This combination will also be very useful in the industrial environments which need high data rates and low latency. All these features will be supported by 5G in the future. Hence, colour change has been considered as an important quality trait to assess ripening behaviour of tomato fruits. Present study depicts the use of two widely used colour based parameters for assessment of ripening behaviour of tomato fruits during storage. Tomato fruits of ten popular Indian varieties were harvested at green mature stage and stored up to 14 days at 22 ± 1°C with RH of 90 ± 5%. Ripening index (RI %) and red tomato (RT %) were used to determine the progress of ripening at 5, 10 and 14 days after harvest. Out of these two parameters, RI (%) was found to be better for assessment of tomato fruit ripening as it was more sensitive (2.5 times) to the change in rate of ripening than the RT (%). Hence, this colour change based simple, rapid and non-destructive parameter can be used suitably for assessing the progress of tomato fruit ripening. Based on the time-course values of RI (%), tomato varieties were classified as fast ripening, intermediate ripening and slow ripening types. Further, visual colour based evaluation of tomato fruits is discussed and its implications are being highlighted for other colour associated and ripening-related changes (maturity, firmness, nutritional status).
