The aim of this study is to identify the degree of possessing strategic planning skills by academ... more The aim of this study is to identify the degree of possessing strategic planning skills by academic leaders in Jordanian university. Strategic planning is not just a guarantee for an organization to sustain its financial position or supplying it with the ability to sustain its reserves, but it is a systematic process that involves several stages and steps through which the current position of the organization analyzes their strengths and weaknesses, the opportunities and threats they encounters, identifies its vision and aims, chooses the strategic alternatives to achieve the objective effectively within the surrounding environmental conditions, and setting the strategic general plan as well as the strategies related to different functional areas. Other reasons includes preparing the cultural environment of the organization, preparing administrative leaders and improving communications and giving out information which is necessary for making better decisions, and setting executive plans and schedules as well as monitoring, follow-up and evaluating the performance of the organization (Farrah et al. 2001). Hussy (Hussy, 1982, p3) suggested that strategic planning is "an essential part of management, and a vital element because it shows the awareness of the future, and prepares the requirements in dealing with it".

The study used a descriptive approach to the appropriateness of the nature and objectives of the study; helps in the detection of the concept of knowledge management and its dimensions , processes and outputs of educational institutions, and that this approach does not stop at the present , but extends into the future, so do not stop at the borders describe phenomena and problems, but extends to the analysis and interpretation, and out of the conclusions meaningful benefit in the treatment of the issue under study. Conclusions private institutions of Arabic higher education: The analytical study revealed that higher education institutions in general, Arab, and in Jordan, and in particular suffer from, The absence of the concept of knowledge management and practices addressing the issues of knowledge in a piecemeal fashion, double the investment of modern technologies in the field of conservation and dissemination of information ,lack of consensus skills and knowledge graduates with the requirements of the knowledge society, the weakness of the relationship between scientific research and knowledge management, with respect to the generation and dissemination of knowledge, need for higher education institutions to engage the Arab public in the era of knowledge and practices of knowledge management, through a good investment for intellectual capital available to them.

This study aims to determine whether ownership structure is linked to the dividend policy on indu... more This study aims to determine whether ownership structure is linked to the dividend policy on industrial companies are listed in ASE. The study sample consisted of sixty two industrial firms listed in ASE from (2000-2006).In order to achieve the objective of the study, annually dividend and annual report publications of public shareholding firms held by ASE. The Tobit model or censored regression model specification was used to test the study hypotheses for the level of dividends paid. The study was found more than half (55%) of the firm observation in our sample have zero dividends. Results shows that ownership dispersion as measured by the natural log of the number of stockholders (STOCK) seems to be not related to dividend policy in Jordan since it was insignificant in both analyses, Tobit and OLS. The fraction held by insiders (INSD), has negative impact on the level of dividends paid. The other ownership, family is negatively but not significantly, and institution is positively and significant influence on the dividend policy, the multiple ownership is negative and insignificant, the finally variable for ownership is foreigner positive and insignificant.

This study aims at identifying the extent of applying value chain analysis (VCA) to achieve and s... more This study aims at identifying the extent of applying value chain analysis (VCA) to achieve and sustain competitive advantage in manufacturing companies in Jordan. To achieve the study's objectives, a questionnaire was developed and pre-tested. The population of the study consists of the (93) company which are listed in the Amman Stock Exchange of Jordan in the end of the 2012, (65) companies of them accepted to fill the questionnaires. (81.5)% of the distributed questionnaires was received. Descriptive and analytical statistical techniques such as frequencies, percentages, standard deviation, means, one sample T test and one way ANOVA were applied to test the study's hypotheses. The study revealed the following results: manufacturing companies in Jordan apply VCA, but don't use it to achieve and sustain competitive advantage and there is no statistically significant effect of the respondents' demographic characteristics on their perceiving the importance of applying VCA to achieve competitive advantage. The study recommends manufacturing companies in Jordan train their employees on strategic analysis of the company's internal and external environment, exercise the value chain analysis, calculate the unit cost of production and enter them in courses for achieving and sustaining competitive advantage through cost reduction and differentiation strategies.
