The maximum level of insolation occurs only around noon. This leads to the panel to be under-utilised. To maximise the utilisation of the panel during the day, mechanical solar tracking is used. This method not only increases the utilisation of the, but increases the power being extracted from the panel. Solar tracking using one axis tracking increases the energy yield from the solar panel by 40 percent.

IET Power Electronics

The multiphase matrix converter outperforms the conventional three‐phase system with higher fault... more The multiphase matrix converter outperforms the conventional three‐phase system with higher fault tolerance capability and higher power control competency. This paper discusses the direct control based on different possible switching combinations of a three‐phase to five‐phase matrix converter (MC). The proposed control topology significantly reduces the switching commutations in a switching cycle when compared with its counterpart. The control is based on the modified space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) strategy. The proposed space vector scheme intelligently selects the voltage vectors to get the desired output characteristics with the least possible switching transitions in a switching cycle. Three possible cases exist in controlling space vectors based on their magnitude, the number of active switching vectors, and their commutations. The results for three different cases of SVPWM have been presented and compared. The total harmonic distortion (THD) obtained in the outpu...

Food contamination often caused by contact with tabletops or food handling surfaces where the pathogenic microbes are present due to unhygienic condition of people working there and the overall environment of the food serving area. In current study, four areas (local restaurants, fast food shops, university canteens and hospital canteens) were selected for collection of swab sample (per cm2 area) from the tabletops. Five samples from each area were taken for further studies. After microbiological analysis we found ten different types of bacteria (Esherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Klebsiella oxytoca, Corynebacterium xerosis, Staphylococcus aures, Salmonella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter aerogenes, pseudomonas aeruginosa and Alcaligenes fecalis) which are already considered to be pathogenic bacteria causing different health issues in immune-compromised and also in ...

We used moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS)-derived accumulated growing degree days (AGDD) and normalized difference water index (NDWI) with ground-based understory GGS observations at approximately 120 lookout tower sites during the period 2006 to 2008. During 2006, we extracted the temporal dynamics of AGDD/NDWI at the lookout tower sites and determined the best thresholds (i.e., 90 degree-days for AGDD and 0.45 for NDWI). These AGDD/NDWI thresholds were then implemented during 2007 and 2008; and observed that AGDD had better prediction capabilities in comparison to NDWI (i.e., ∼ 94 % and ∼ 65 % of the incidents fall within ± 2 periods or ± 16 days of deviations with the ground-based understory GGS observations using AGDD and NDWI thresholds, respectively). The outcomes would potentially be useful in understanding availability of food and habitat for wildlife species/animals; microclimatic environment, composition, and diversity of plant community; and forest fire danger and fire behavior in case of fire occurrences.

It results in muscle contraction of the adductor muscles of the thigh, which may lead to perforation of bladder wall with the resectoscope loop. The aim of the study was to compare the outcome of obturator nerve block by inguinal and transvesical approach. Materials and Methods: A prospective experimental study was done in the department of Urology Dhaka Medical College Hospital during the period of November 2016 to April 2018. Total 60 Patients were included for the study as per inclusion and exclusion Criteria. Patients were than allocated purposively into two groups by simple random sampling. The histological grade is an independent determinant of disease prognosis and survival. The Gleason System (GS) grading is the most widely accepted classification. Several recent studies have searched for factors that could predict GS upgrading. High prostate specific antigen density (PSAD) has been shown to be predictors of risk progression in many studies, reflecting the possibility of undetected aggressive cancer. Objective: To detect the association between PSA density and Gleason score in prostate cancer patients. Research paper thumbnail of Carbon Nanotube Field Emission Devices with Integrated Gate for High Current Applications

2008 8th IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology, 2008

We present a fabrication technique for the integration of a gate electrode with an array of carbo... more We present a fabrication technique for the integration of a gate electrode with an array of carbon nanotube (CNT) emitters. These gated cathode structures have high emission current density and may be utilized in X-ray tubes, traveling wave tubes, and ion propulsion systems. The CNT emitters are grown directly on polished bulk metal substrates and are comprised of CNT bundles that are vertically aligned and can be uniformly produced over a large substrate area. These arrays present many advantages including the capacity to sustain current densities greater than 60 mA/cm 2 and turn-on fields as low as 0.9 V/μm. We also present a detailed integration scheme utilizing these arrays of CNT emitters for the fabrication of gated cathode structures. Relative to other CNT emitters these gated structures have low operating voltages at higher emission current densities. Finite element analysis is used to investigate the electrostatic properties of both gated and ungated pillar structures. These results demonstrate that the benefits afforded by CPAs can be further enhanced by the addition of an integrated gate electrode.

For this, a total of 76 respondents took part on the study. Multiple regression is carried out to test the hypotheses of the study. From the descriptive statistics, it can be inferred that there is room for improvement in the three facets of organizational justice and job satisfaction as perceived by the respondents with their means being close to 3.0. The model explains about 75% of the variance in employee job satisfaction and finds that of the three hypotheses, while distributive and interactional justice have positive influence on job satisfaction, procedural justice does not show the same. The study discusses the managerial implications and puts forward some possible avenues for further research in this particular field.

The three traditional measures by Treynor, Sharpe, and Jensen are based on the Mean-Variance (M-V) rule, which is valid only when the distribution of asset returns is characterized by spherical symmetry to which class normal and similar distributions belong. But, Bawa has proved that the M-LPM2 (Mean- LPM of 2nd Order) rule can be used as a reasonable approximation of the optimal rule for the entire class of return distribution. Risk from the LPM perspective is measured by taking into account only those states in which return is below a pre-specified "target rate", like risk-free rate, and capturing the extent to which it is below. We also provide a new way to evaluate the performance of a portfolio, which is similar to the M2 [Modigliani-Modigliani] approach, but differs from it in an important way. 3
