There are many references relating to bacteria in ancient literature such as Rigveda, Atharveda, Shatapatha Bramhana etc. Krimi, Rakshas, Pishacha, Apsara, etc. terms are used for microorganisms and several types of microorganism have been recognized and described in Vedic literature. Some organisms are visible and macroscopic (Drishya) and some are of microscopic (adrishya). They may originate either inside or outside of body. They have identified for primary seat of infection (vesa) and secondary seat of infection (parivesa) in the body. Ayurveda recommended four methods to destroy microorganisms; viz. refraining, disentangling, removing and fumigating. The present study was intended to research the antioxidant potential of aqueous extract, Hydroalcoholic extract and Alcoholic extract from Martynia annua root. Martynia annua (cat’s claw, bichu) belongs to Martyniaceae family. For centuries, extracts of leaves, roots, stems, roots and seeds of M. annua have been used to cure eplilepsy, inflammation, tuberculosis, skin infections etc. Methods: The antioxidant activities of Aqueous, Hydroalcoholic and Alcoholic extractives were evaluated by using DPPH free radical assay. Dysmenorrhoea can also be associated with nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fatigue, blotting abdomen etc. As per Ayurveda Apanavata is the governing force of menstruation; its vitiation gives rise to many gynaecological diseases ( yonivyapad). Kashyapa has mentioned Shatapushpa (Anethum sowa Kurz.) as drug of choice for Artava related problems. So that group A is treated with Shatapushpa churana and group B with Shatapushpa taila matra basti. Shatapushpa Churna and Shatapushpa taila matrabasti showed extremely significant (P< 0.0001) relief in severity of pain however showed significant relief in duration of Pain, Nausea and Breast Tenderness. Materials and Methods: The present study includes organoleptic, microscopic physicochemical, phytochemical and chromatographic examination of leaf of Kushnatulasi. Results: macro and microscopic, organoleptic, physicochemical, phytochemical and chromatographic findings are observed as per API in present study. However, it is not standardized to date. So, the study aims to standardize H. verticillate as it is used as a primary medicine for human ailments . Materials and Methods: The plant was collected from Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College Hospital and Research Centre, herbal garden and authenticated by the pharmacognosy department of IPGT&RA, Jamnagar, Gujarat. A pharmacognostic study with microscopic and preliminary phytochemical analysis was carried out. Result: Microscopy study showed some characteristics of stomata, palisade, and surface, which is useful for the identification and standardization of H. verticillata.

A pharmacognostic study with microscopic and preliminary phytochemical analysis was carried out.
