There are state conservatories in many universities and they provide education on various instrum... more There are state conservatories in many universities and they provide education on various instruments on different levels and music genres. In Turkey the percussion instruments departments of the state conservatories are the leading institutions providing percussion education. Conservatories containing these departments may differ among themselves in the context of the educational process. It is known that orchestral or soloist artists are trained in these departments which mainly contain classical music. The education presented in the percussion instruments departments is considered to be long-term. The education starting on the primary level continues up to the undergraduate level and the graduate education is also available. During this process, which generally lasts 12 years as primary, secondary and bachelor degree in state conservatories, students' attitudes towards percussion instruments in individual instrument classes can affect their academic achievement. In addition, students' attitudes towards individual instrument education may vary in the context of their levels of the class. In this study, it was aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between the attitudes of the students according to their instrument levels, class levels and their academic achievement or not by using quantitative research techniques and correlational type relational screening model. As a result of the study, it was found that the students having individual instrument lessons develop positive attitudes towards percussion instruments, there is a meaningful relationship in terms of class levels and attitudes level decreases from lower to upper grades. In addition, it was found that there is a high level, positive and significant relationship between students' individual instrument education attitudes and their academic achievement.
