Maria Grazia Lurgo, aka Mya Lurgo, was born in Bordighera, Italy, in 1971. She has lived in Switzerland for more than 30 years.
Her artistic training does not follow the academic path but goes hand in hand with her youthful studies in linguistics and sports medicine. Later, as a self-taught artist, she embraced esoteric, philosophical, and psychological texts, declining the teachings learned in singular research and creativity, which link matter and spirituality.
Her artistic development involves constant study, experimentation, and renewal. She uses different expressive media—painting, light art, digital art, land art, video art, and performance—without putting anyone in the foreground. She defines this particular conception of art making as Acentrism, the absence of centralising or embanking “isms.”
Poetry and theoretical research spring from living and putting into action daily the alignment and connection with the super-conscious through meditative writing and inner or spirit listening.
The artistic-spiritual quest, which started from Acentrism, transits through the Immaterial inspired by Yves Klein (to whose “Manifesto” he devoted in-depth studies) to arrive at the ART OF THE SPIRIT, which is not necessarily immaterial or conceptual art, but rather a “creativity aligned in my whole being: physical, emotional, mental, animic/causal, spiritual. A creativity as well as a communication-communion with the superconscious.”
This approach is shared through interaction with the public and other artists in her atelier showroom in Aranno (in the Malcantone Region). Here, she conducts meetings, residencies, and workshops, creating a network of sharing activities dedicated to psycho-physical well-being, personal growth, and self-development.
