Research paper thumbnail of Newly Designed Mesoporous Silica and Organosilica Nanostructures Based on Pentablock Copolymer Templates in Weakly Acidic Media

Pluronic block templates were used mainly to prepare these pentablock copolymers with different molecular weights and volume ratios. Silica precursor tetraethyl orthosilicate and organosilicas precursor 1,4-bis(triethoxysilyl)benzene have been used as main source for synthesizing the silica and organosilicas samples. Weak Lewis acids iron(III) chloride hexahydrate, aluminum(III) chloride hexahydrate, and boric acid were utilized as catalyst instead of any strong inorganic acids and the molar ratio of catalyst/precursor has been optimized to 1–2 for preparation of ordered mesostructures. Reaction temperatures have been optimized to 25 °C for pure silica and both 25 °C as well as 40 °C for organosilicas to get the best result for mesostructures. A detailed a...

The rate determining parameters like, pH of the medium, concentration of the complex and dye, amount of H2O2, and light intensity on the degradation process were studied in detail. The rate of photocatalytic degradation of the dye was observed spectrophotometrically and

Peptic ulcer, which is also known as PUD or peptic ulcer disease, is an ulcer (mucosal erosions equal to or greater than 0.5 cm) of an area of the gastrointestinal tract that is usually acidic and results extreme pain. Symptoms include abdominal pain with severity relating to mealtimes, after around 3 hours of taking a meal; starvation; oily and spicy food intake; bloating and abdominal fullness; nausea, and copious vomiting; loss of appetite and weight loss etc. There are many herbs, nutrients, and plant products that have been found to play a role in protecting or helping to heal stomach and peptic ulcers. Few human trials are available, but many have shown good potential in animal or in vitro studies. And the present study was aimed to collect information on various herbs which are used in treating Peptic Ulcer in various parts of the world, depending upon the data's provided by various researchers.

Continuous effort to control and manage diabetes by acute monitoring of the blood glucose concentration requires the development of an efficient and reliable glucose sensing device. Although both enzymatic and enzyme-free methods of glucose detection are available in the market, non-enzymatic biosensors are more significant due to certain drawbacks in enzyme based sensors. In this article, a stable non-enzymatic sensing platform for d-glucose based on nickel hydroxide and nickel oxide nanomaterials has been described. Ni(OH)and NiO were synthesized through a facile hydrothermal route followed by the heat treatment. Detailed morphological and structural characterizations were carried out using GIXRD, transmission and scanning electron microscopy) (TEM and FESEM) which reveal that hexagonal β-Ni(OH)and cubic NiO phases have been formed. TEM image of NiO has shown that the nanomaterials...

Research paper thumbnail of Surfactant-assisted synthesis of ceria-titania-rich mesoporous silica materials and their catalytic activity towards photodegradation of organic dyes

The removal of the template resulted in the formation of mesoporous composites doped with Ce and Ti, which were thoroughly characterized via small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXRD), N2 adsorption, scanning and transmission electron microscopy analysis with energy-dispersive spectrometry mapping (SEM-TEM-EDS), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrophotometry (ICP-AES), and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectrometry (UV-visible). The electronic states of Ti and Ce species present on the surface of silica were also investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The catalytic activity of these Ti-modified ceria-silica samples for the photodecomposition of r...

The number of implantation sites calculated by adding the number of resorption sites and of fetuses was reduced in the zinc ingested group as expressed per mated female. Additional zinc intake was interpreted to interfere with implantation of the fertilised ova. But institution of zinc administration at the same dose 21 to 26 days prior to coitus and continued throughout gestation for 18 days did not affect the incidence of conception and implantation sites per mated female. The observation was probably due to an adaptation to precoital treatment with zinc. In both experiments stillbirth and malformed fetuses were absent and the number of resorption sites was negligible in the zinc ingested rats and their controls suggesting no major untoward effect of added zinc to fetal growth. This was further corroborated by unaffected fetal and placental weights.
