All consecutive injured patients who consented were included in the study. Ethical approval was obtained from the hospital ethical committee. Results: A total of 101 patients with various injuries were attended to at Emergency Department. There were 70(69.31%) males and 31(30.69%) females, with age ranging from 5 years to 85years (mean age is 34 years). Only 13(12.87%) of these patients had any form of pre-hospital care before presentation. Road traffic Accident accounted for 73(72.8%) cases, Fall 10(9.9%) cases, whilst assault accounted for 8(7.9%) cases. Home accident accounted for 2(1.98%) of cases, and Burns, Cult clash, Sport Injury and Dog bite accounted for 1 case each. Soft tissue Injury (Bruises/Lacerations) was the commonest type of injury (31.68%) followed by fracture (28.7%), Head injury (17.82%), Chest Injury (1.98%). Death was recorded in 1 case which was due to severe head Injury. Conclusion: Road traffic Accident is the commonest cause of musculoskeletal injuries seen at our centre. There is need to improve availability of pre-hospital care of accident victims across the country.

Congenital absence of the Flexor Pollicis Longus tendon is rare, and is one of the variants of type1 thumb aplasia and hypoplasia-a large spectrum of deficiencies. Absence of Flexor Pollicis Longus (FPL) without associated anomalies of thumb hypoplasia is rare, and its bilateralism is quite rare. A case of bilateral congenital absence of Flexor Pollicis Longus without thumb hypoplasia in a 12 years old Nigerian school girl is hereby presented. Inability to flex the thumb and lack of flexion crease are prominent diagnostic features.

The term is used to describe combined fractures of humerus and forearm bones in the same extremity. It could occur in children and adults. We describe a 49 years old righthanded male farmer who fell off a moving motorbike into a ditch, sustaining a closed injury to the right upper extremity. Radiographs showed right humeral shaft fracture, comminuted fracture of radial head, fracture of proximal 3 rd of Ulna and dislocation of the 5 th Metacarpo-phalangeal joint. He had plate and screw fixation of both humerus and ulna fractures, K wire fixation of 5 th MP joint and excision of radial head. All fractures united but he has residual stiffness of the fingers and limited forearm rotation 6 months postoperatively. No Neurological sequel.

This report examines the pattern of gunshot injuries in a secondary Health facility over a 24-month period. Patients and Methods: All cases of GSI seen at the Accident and Emergency department of the State Hospital, Abeokuta from January 2010 to December 2011 retrospectively analyzed. Results: There were 46 cases with males constituting 44(95.1%) of cases, whilst female accounted for 2 (4.4%) cases thus giving a M:F ratio of 22:1. GSI commonly occurs in the age group 21 – 40 years (65.1%), whilst the lower limb was the most common anatomic region affected (39.1%). The other body regions affected were upper limb (30.4%), Head & Neck (15.2%), Abdomen (6.5%), Chest (2.2%), Trunk(back) (2.2%). 4.4% of patients had multiple sites of GSI.13(28.3%) cases were recorded in 2010 as against the 33(71.7%) cases seen in 2011an ele...
