Mother's unpreparedness to care for their infants causes anxiety for them. Aims: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of home visit on anxiety of mothers having preterm infant discharged from neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Settings and Design: This was a experimental control group study on 50 mothers with preterm infant discharged from NICU of Shahid Sadoughi Hospital, an educational hospital with 30 beds in a city in the west of Iran in 2019. Subjects and Methods: Participants with a convenience sampling were randomly assigned in the experimental and control groups. In the experimental group, home visit was done on the 3rd and 5th days after discharging the infants, and the mothers received necessary instructions proportional to their needs. Data collection tools included demographic information and Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Statistical Analysis Used: The findings were analyzed by SPSS 20 software using Kolmogorov–Smirnov, independent t-test, and Chi-square. Results: The mean ages of the participants in the intervention and control groups were 30.59 ± 6.38 and 28.67 ± 5.05 years, respectively. There was no significant difference between the mean obvious and hidden anxiety in the two groups (P > 0.05) before the intervention. However, after the intervention, the mean obvious and hidden anxiety in the experimental group was lower than the mean of the control group, and this difference was significant (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Home visit is effective in decreasing anxiety in mothers of preterm infant who have been discharged from NICU.

Therefore, it is essential to understand the feelings of fathers towards infant care. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of kangaroo care on tension in fathers of premature infants hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit. METHODS: This quasi-experimental study was carried out in 2015 on 25 pairs of fathers and premature infants, hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Shahid Sadoughi Hospital of Yazd, Iran. Kangaroo care was applied for 60 min every day over two weeks after feeding the infants and changing their diaper. After wearing a hospital gown, fathers sat on a chair in a comfortable position (angle of 45-60°). Then, the nurse placed the infant under the father's gown in a vertical position on the father's chest (chest-to-chest placement). The fathers completed the parental stress scale before and after the intervention. FINDINGS: The mean total score of tension in fathers was 122.64±11.00 before the intervention and 90.72±13.04 after the intervention (p<0.001). According to the findings, there was a significant difference between the mean scores of all subscales before and after the intervention (p<0.001). CONCLUSION: The results of the present study showed that kangaroo care could be effective in reducing tension in fathers of premature infants, hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units.

Regarding that Iranians have a positive attitude towards complementary medicine; the demand for this type of treatments is increasing. However, those undergoing this treatment often have limited awareness on it. Objectives: This study aims at determining the perspective of cancer patients on using complementary medicine. Methods: In this descriptive study, 176 cancer patients from all over the country were selected by purposeful sampling, according to the inclusion criteria and, then, completed demographic characteristics questionnaire and the Questionnaire on Integrating Complementary Medicine in Oncology Treatment. The data were analyzed, using SPSS software version 20. Results: More than half of the patients used complementary medicine and according to their viewpoints, using herbal medicine was considered their first priority. At the same time, 46% of the research samples consulted with care providers on how to use complementary medicine for cancer treatment. The most frequent referrals to specialists were referrals to complementary medicine experts. The researchers expected complementary medicine to improve their symptoms of anxiety, fatigue, and depression. Conclusions: The use of complementary medicine as a complementary approach in cancer patients can have an impact on the improvement of symptoms, which ultimately enhances the quality of life in patients. Due to the concerns about applying these approaches, it is necessary to train care providers in order to consider the perspective of cancer patients in this regard and to obtain their past medical history.
