Thus, the aspects that relate to the objective of how to model the library supply chain were reviewed. These include all the important literature to support the required information for the library supply chain model such as the members/entities of a library supply chain model, the structural dimensions of a library chain network, and the different types of process links across a library supply chain. Finally, we also described several specific studies involving specific entities inside the library supply chain.

The proposed framework is a modification of the earlier model introduced by Engku Abu Bakar, Rahman and Yusof (2011). The framework consists of three models. The first model, Model A, is an LP model to maximize the total budget allocated to all the academic faculties/schools in the university subject to various factors such as total faculty members, total undergraduate student population, total postgraduate student population, age of programs, number of programs, total service course slots, total distance learning students, and total non-academic staff in the faculties/schools. It is hoped that with these simple illustrations those who are unfamiliar with decision science will be aware of its great potential in solving managerial problems.

This paper reports the findings of a survey analysis done to identify reasons for absenteeism and... more This paper reports the findings of a survey analysis done to identify reasons for absenteeism and suitable remedial mechanisms to curb absenteeism among employees at an organization.Eight criteria that mostly influence employee absenteeism were selected from fifteen criteria obtained through a survey involving twelve employees with highest absenteeism record.In addition, five remedial mechanisms to curb the problem were identified.The final decision on the remedial mechanism believed to be most suitable and efficient in curbing the absenteeism problem was determined using analytic hierarchy process.The findings revealed that uninteresting work, illness and job stress are three top contributors to employee absenteeism while the top three alternatives to curb this problem are through staff recognition, attendance financial bonus, and counseling.

This study proposes a supply chain model for the Excecutive Development Center of Universiti Utar... more This study proposes a supply chain model for the Excecutive Development Center of Universiti Utara Malaysia (EDC-UUM) to enhance the usability and the visibility of EDC-UUM, thus increasing the demand for EDC-UUM services and indirectly, the profit as well.Specifically, this study embarks on two objectives which are to determine the resources available and opportunities that can be grabbed to strengthen the functions and usability of EDC-UUM and to develop a supply chain model for EDC-UUM that will incorporate all the resources and opportunities so that the demand for and the utilization of the training/seminar rooms and hotel rooms can be increased.To achieve the first objective, a SWOT analysis is conducted by assessing the current practice and future plans of EDC-UUM.The second objective is achieved by studying the characteristic of a hotel supply chain, and then maps the supply chain to suit the characteristics of EDC-UUM. In this report, the supply chain model focuses only on the first and second tier for EDC-UUM's product development that directly involves the use of local commu-nity members.

Normally, in the case where inconsistencies are found, the evaluators might have to redo the pairwise comparisons, hence, disturbing the original preference.In this paper, we proposed an evaluation step prior to conducting the pairwise comparison in order to eliminate inconsistent comparisons.The evaluation step involves the rating of importance of criteria using a scale of 1- 9 whereby 1 represents least important while 9 represents extremely important.The resulted ratings are then used as a guide to construct the AHP-pairwise comparison matrix by using certain simple algorithm that is also proposed in this paper.Once the pairwise comparison matrix is obtained, the weights of criteria can be calculated using the existing AHP-technique. The process involved a thorough diagnostic of the proposed heuristic classification schemes in order to find unique characteristics that can assist us to distinguish each heuristic. We started by carrying out a survey of the heuristic classification schemes and templates previously proposed in the literature. We discovered that most of heuristic classifying schemes and templates proposed in the literature looked at individual heuristic class without integrating together all the classes of heuristics, thus justifying the need for a unified heuristic classifying scheme and templates.
