The European Expert Panel has advocated universal screening as a preferable approach of hypercholesterolemia screening as a part of the primary preventive effort. Objective: To assess the relation between dyslipidemia and its risk factors; age and body mass index. Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional study that included 357 of children who visited the Pediatrics General Outpatient Clinic at Zagazig University Hospitals. All subjects were subjected to full history taking, general examination, anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, and laboratory investigations including: non-fasting and fasting lipid profiles. Results: Non-fasting total cholesterol (TC) of ≥ 200 was (14.3%) and < 200 was (85.7%). Non-fasting (LDL) of ≥ 130 was (16.8%) and <130 was (83.2%). HDL category of < 40 was (61.3%) and ≥ 40 was (38.7%). There was no statistically significant difference between age, sex and lipid profiles. There was statistically significant positive correlation between non-fasting triglycerides (TG) and non-fasting HDL and non-fasting non-HDL-C. Conclusion: Obesity was associated with the prevalence of at least one abnormal lipid level. This highlights the importance of paying greater attention to the prevention of cardiovascular disease and obesity in children from an early age.

The conjugation of chitosan with green synthesized silver nanoparticles (SNPs) to form a nanocomposite film will greatly affect the structural properties of chitosan film. This study aimed to evaluate the physical properties of chitosan films doped with different concentrations of SNPs (100-400 g). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) were measured for pure chitosan and chitosan films doped with SNPs (100-400 g). XRD pattern for chitosan film doped with the highest concentration of SNPs (400 g) showed a decrease in the crystallinity of the chitosan matrix compared with the other doped films. Also, DMA results showed that the storage modulus of the nanocomposite films is dependent on the concentration of SNPs. Accordingly, chitosan film doped with high concentration of SNPs (400 g) affected the structure and viscoelastic behaviour of chitosan. Thus, the integration of green synthesized silver nanoparticles using aloe vera extract with chitosan films identifies promising candidate in biomedical applications.

The applications of silver nanoparticles in the biological environment are always obstructed by oxidation that causes aggregation of nanoparticles which lowers its antibacterial activity. In this research, silver nanoparticles were coated on the surface of mesoporous silica forming mesoporous silver nanoshells (Ag@ MSNs). The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by their zeta potential, particle size, UV absorption spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Additionally, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were also performed. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared Ag@MSNs was evaluated against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. The results showed that Ag@MSNs are monodispersed with an average size distribution 272 ± 61 nm. Ag@MSNs are highly stable with zeta potential value of 43.3 ± 6.5 mV and an absorption peak at 235 nm. Small-angle X-ray diffraction demonstrated a narrow and strong peak at 2ϴ = 1.71 ο indicating that the Ag@MSNs have an ordered porous structure. Surface coating of mesoporous silica nanoparticles with silver shells increased the contact surface area with the bacterial membrane. Thus, Ag@MSNs significantly inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and E-coli. In conclusion the present study gives new insights into the synthesis of antimicrobial nano-formulation that can offer a variety of uses in industry and biomedical applications.

It is frequently observed during delivery and can have detrimental effects on a mother's health and quality of life. Aim of the study to determine the effect of Aloe Vera gel versus normal saline on pain relieve and healing process of episiotomy. Materials and method: Design: A comparative quasi-experimental research design was utilized. Subjects: A convenience study subject of (120) women were selected from EL-Shatby Maternity University Hospital. Tools: Four tools were used by the researchers to collect the necessary data: Tool I: basic data structured interview schedule, Tool II: Pain Intensity Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Tool III: Wound Healing REEDA Scale and Tool IV: Bacteriological Wound Study. Results: There was a statistically significant differences between both groups in relation to perineal pain intensity after 10 postnatal days (X 2 = 7.937, p = 0.005). On the 10 th postpartum day, the entire Aloe Vera group did achieve complete healing of episiotomy wound compared to 80% of the normal saline group. There was a statistically significant difference between both groups (p < 0.0001).Conclusion: it could be concluded that the application of Aloe Vera gel was more effective on wound healing and perineal pain than normal saline among postnatal women with episiotomy. Moreover the growth of the isolated organisms among the episiotomy wound treated with the Aloe Vera gel were less than among those treated with normal saline.

Venous thrombosis has an overall yearly incidence of less than 1 in 1000 [2]. A middle-aged female patient without relevant medical history was admitted with syncope and pancytopenia to the critical care unit of Cairo University hospitals. Viral profile and renal and hepatic functions were normal, as well as bone marrow aspirate. Abdominal ultrasound followed by computed tomography of the abdomen showed moderate splenomegaly with no focal splenic lesions for clinical laboratory correlation and portal hypertension with portal vein cavernoma (mostly an organized old thrombosis during pregnancy) for color Doppler evaluation, which confirmed the diagnosis. Thrombophilia screening showed rare multiple thrombophilic genetic defects.
