Using both empirical and theoretical methods. Opinions of 50 respondents as sample size, with members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) as the target respondents being Public Relations practitioners in the State. The survey was carried out using structured questionnaires for the respondents The findings shows, that even though the Ogun State Government uses the media to spread information to the Public, many of these information were mostly propaganda to boost its image to the public. Public Relations which emphasizes the truth, is not effectively practiced by the Government, it was also discovered that the Government uses a lot of Public Relations tools, like meetings, deliberations and discussions between itself and affected individuals in the event of crisis but does not give adequate progress reports to the public concerning how the problems were solved. It was also found out that, the Government also sends out information is about the resolutions of the crisis but there are no clear cut plans on how it plans to carry out the wishes and desires of the affected individuals. Based on the findings, the study recommends that the Government should put more efforts to ensure transparency between itself and its publics and ensure the much needed Public Relation strategies are carried out effectively. Also, it is important for the Government to take necessary steps in ensuring efficient Crisis Management strategies to detect potential crisis before they occur which will prevent full blown crisis which can lead to loss to the Government itself and the people who are directly or indirectly involved in the crisis.
