In line with these challenges, this paper sought to review extant literature on the successes of entrepreneurship as an approach to solving unemployment across the globe. The study sought to specifically identify whether entrepreneurship alone is sufficient to achieve unemployment reduction or it must be used in tandem with other approaches, and the necessary conditions for entrepreneurship as an unemployment reducer. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was used to search for relevant journal articles from Scopus, Emerald Insight and Google Scholar search engines. The search criteria were limited to unemployment and entrepreneurship nexus globally, a period of 1970 to 2020 and journal articles. Using the SLR technique, a total of 32 articles were identified out of whi...

The study also investigated the quality and quantity of CSRD with its consequence in terms of quality and quantity of the impact on firm value. The study sampled 33 listed firms over 10 years, from 2011 to 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and panel regression analysis. The results of the study showed the weak relationship between the quality and quantity of CSRD. Regarding the nature of CSRD, community information was disclosed more often than any other category of information was. In addition, this research study demonstrated that a separate section for CSRD information was much preferred. Further, the financial sector disclosed more CSRD information than any of the other sectors did. On the consequences of CSRD, the results ...

Th... more Solid waste disposal, in particular, has become a daunting task for the municipal authorities. This paper presents an assessment of household's willingness to pay for improved solid waste management service. The paper engaged household's that demand the services of Solid Waste Management (SWM) within Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. Data for the study were collected through survey of households living at the Effiakuma estates. Three hundred questionnaires were administered to respondents to gather information on their willingness to pay and the amount they were willing to pay for an improved service. In this study, contingent valuation method (CVM) was used as a method of valuation. Probit and Tobit models were used in the empirical analysis to determine the factors that influence WTP and MWTP of households for improved SWM respectively. The outcome of the study shows that, environmental awareness, occupation, income, perception and house ownership significantly determined households willingness to pay for an improved SWM service. The paper recommends that government should create more employment opportunities so that people can earn regular income. In addition government and various stake holders should make efforts towards improving residents' income as willingness to pay relates positively to income. More so, educational programs about the dangers of waste in our communities should be organized by various organizations in a quest to increase environmental awareness so as to increase the WTP for improved environmental quality in general and improved solid waste management in particular. Last but not least, the policy frameworks which have been set aside by government for service providers or companies must be given a strict enforcement.

Periods of economic boom or growth of output can be associated with high rates of employment while recession periods correlate positively with woeful rates of unemployment. This undoubtedly suggests an inverse association between high rates of employment and recession; and high rates of unemployment and economic boom. This paper evaluates the robustness of the Job – Finding, Job Loss (JFJL) model in modeling the employment and unemployment rates in Ghana. It uses the job – finding and separation parameters as bases to model the employment and unemployment rates of Ghana in the form of simple Non – Homogenous First Order Ordinary Differential Equations. The resulting model is obtained by solving the differential equations via the Method of Variation of Constants (MVC). The JFJL model suggests an environment in which labour force is allowed t...

The study adopted the quantitative approach. The design employed the descriptive survey design. The study population was 62 permanent staff who were all considered for the study using the census method. Auxiliary employees such as cleaners, security staff and drivers were not considered. Questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.857 was the instrument used. The data were analysed using means, standard deviations, and linear multiple regression analysis. The findings show that staff of the bank perceived the organisational culture of the bank positively. Also, staffs were satisfied with the culture of the bank. The study found that though NIB’s organisational culture relates positively to staff level of satisfaction; it does not predict accounting procedures of the bank strongly. It does so through staff level of satisfaction. The study, therefore, conclude that organisational culture of the bank has significant influence on the bank’s adopted accounting procedures. It is recommended to board of directors and management of the bank to ensure that the bank nurture and regularised the internal control culture and roles of staff appropriately through the bank’s strategic planning. This will lead to high level of staff satisfaction in the bank’s culture. This condition will in the long run lead to the general improvement in the accounting procedures of the bank.
