The mechanism for the syntheses of inorganic framework materials based solely on polyoxometalate ... more The mechanism for the syntheses of inorganic framework materials based solely on polyoxometalate Keggin clusters has been examined and their electronic properties have been investigated. The assembly of the m odular net work co mpounds wit h th e mo lecular formula (C 4 H 10 NO) n [W 72 M 12 O 268 X 7 ] (with the heteroatom X = Si or Ge and the heterometal M = Co(II) or Mn(III)) is based on the isomerization of the metastable precursor material [γ-XW 10 O 36 ] 8− , followed by the inclusion of the heterometal and subsequent assembly into the extended framework structure. The two frameworks featuring manganese substitution can be dis-and reassembled in a recrystallization process while the cobalt versions do not show comparable behavior. The intrinsic differences of the four compounds with regards to their heteroatom and heterometal substitution are shown in terms of their redox behavior.

Both clusters are synthesized from the reactions of trilacunary polyoxotungstate precursor [α-P 2 W 15 O 56 ] 12− and FeCl 3 under strict pH control at atmospheric pressure. The compounds are fully characterised in the solid state (FTIR and single-crystal XRD, elemental and thermogravimetric analyses), solution (cyclic voltammetry and UV-Vis spectroscopy) and in the gas phase (ESI-MS). An {Fe III 13 } core is present in both clusters which can be described as Archimedean solids (truncated tetrahedron, 1; elongated cuboctahedron, 2). 1 shows iron delivery properties coupled to a K +-triggered transformation of the {Fe 13 } core to a {K⊂Fe 12 } core in solution. Cyclic voltammetry shows the presence of independent Wand Fe-centred redox processes that support the stability of the clusters in solution. ESI-MS analyses confirm further the stability of 1 and 2 in the gas phase.

Work in area of User Interface patterns is predominantly done at design phase but not enough work is dedicated to analysis patterns. This paper shows different examples of abstract user interface patterns and explores the impact of such patterns in the software lifecycle. Conceptual User Interface Patterns can be used for direct specification of device independent interfaces that can be refined using UI design patterns, or moreover, used to automatically obtain prototypes of the user interface specified in several devices.
