The development of a new simplified model predictive control algorithm has been proposed in this ... more The development of a new simplified model predictive control algorithm has been proposed in this work. The algorithm is developed in the framework of internal model control and it is easy to understanding and implement. We demonstrate the application of the proposed control algorithm to a linear and a nonlinear process models. Simulation results show that the control algorithm presents a good performance.

A SQL query may be expressed in different forms with varying execution costs; hence, it is essent... more A SQL query may be expressed in different forms with varying execution costs; hence, it is essential to choose the best when performance is considered. There are many factors that affect the cost and performance of a query. For instance, a query on a relation without proper indexes can cause full relation scans, which in turn causes either performance or locking problems. Query asking for a relation held by another query can cause dead locks and an improperly formed query can also lead to greater complexity. In this context, the paper presents an empirical analysis of the heuristic and cost-based query optimization techniques. The execution cost of a number of queries was calculated and compared with execution plans obtained after optimization. In particular, we have experimentally checked the impact of query rewriting; the ordering of SQL joins and Select statements and replacement of joins with semi-joins. The experiments have yielded a clear insight into the effect of the mentioned optimizations.

This raises the need for a thorough analysis of the networks in order to understand the network architecture and strength which in turn would be helpful in designing effective, relevant and robust network architecture for applications.. In this paper, we have analyzed a network from real life scenario using centrality measures in order to understand its structure, and have derived certain conclusions about the connectivity and robustness of the network based upon the observations. For carrying out the experiment Gephi tool is used. The results based upon the observations indicate that the network is robust, well-connected as well as reliable when seen from centrality point of view.

In today's era, organizations are developing applications which continuously and rapidly generate... more In today's era, organizations are developing applications which continuously and rapidly generates large amount of data. In this world of big data, NoSQL databases are rapidly becoming popular for storing information among organizations. Therefore, it is essential for an organization to choose a database which is compatible and efficient for their applications. To choose a correct database, it is essential to examine the performance of various databases under diverse workload conditions. In this paper, we are examining different document oriented databases on various workloads, so that we can categorize them according to application need. The evaluation has been performed on four NoSQL document oriented databases: MongoDB, ArangoDB, Elastic search and OrientDB with the help of Yahoo Cloud Service Benchmark (YCSB), which is a popular benchmark tool. Comparison is done in two parts: In the first part, all the databases are compared for single thread on the basis of throughput and runtime. Here, Mongo DB shows better results with highest throughput and lowest runtime among all the databases. In the second part, a thorough analysis is done in which MongoDB and ArangoDB are compared for some threads on different workloads. Here also, Mongo DB outperforms ArangoDB with a high percentage.

Clustering is one of such machine learning techniques. It is considered to be most important tool of unsupervised learning but it is sensitive to outlier. Thus it is essential to remove the outlier before clustering the data. Most of the outlier detection techniques require some user-defined parameters, which make their accuracy user-dependent. Thus an algorithm which is least dependent on user-defined values is proposed here. The algorithm takes number of cluster in which user want to cluster its data and detect outlier within those clusters using Silhouette Coefficient. The algorithm was compared with some of the existing algorithm in domain of outlier detection. T... more With the abundance of technology, digital natives prefer to be more comfortable and effortless. They expect an instant, correct and crisp response to their queries. Keeping this in mind, this paper proposes an agent, HELP, which fetches the unstructured data from the web, aligns it with the structured knowledge base by transforming it into rules and updates the CLIPS knowledge base progressively. It helps to conquer the issue of format non-uniformity. The proposed model is simulated for a technical education university. The objective is to provide an interface to the newcomers who are unfamiliar with the rules, regulations, and policies of the new environment and at the same time reluctant to pose to seniors or faculty.

With advanced innovation in digital technology, demand for virtual assistants is arising which ca... more With advanced innovation in digital technology, demand for virtual assistants is arising which can assist a person and at the same time, minimize the need for interaction with the human. Acknowledging the requirement, we propose an interactive and intelligent student assistant, StuA, which can help newcomer in a college who are hesitant in interacting with the seniors as they fear of being ragged. StuA is capable of answering all types of queries of a newcomer related to academics, examinations, library, hostel and extra curriculum activities. The model is designed using CLIPS which allows inferring using forward chaining. Nevertheless, a generalized algorithm for backward chaining for CLIPS is also implemented. Validation of the proposed model is presented in five steps which show that the model is complete and consistent with 99.16% accuracy of the knowledge model. Moreover, the backward chaining algorithm is found to be 100% accurate.
