Research paper thumbnail of Nativisation of the Christian Culture in India: Understanding Aspects of Indigeneity in their Identity

and culture of Indian Christians. It primarily focuses on how the Indian Christians have
moulded their rituals and customs, thus internalizing Christianity in the Indian spirit.
Such aspects of the nativisation of this religion become a telltale of their indigeneity.
Thus, these facts straightaway counter the assertions made by people who consider
Christianity to be a foreign religion. Besides, projecting the aspects of nativisation, the
current paper also establishes the longstanding history of this religion in our country.
Doing so, it upholds the identity of Indian Christians in the secular country. Apart from
making claims, this paper also makes an appeal to the people to stop atrocities committed
on a particular group of people for the sake of ethnic cleansing of the community.
Keywords: Indian Christian, Nativised Identity, Indigeneity, Ghar Wapsi, Social Discrimination

The film is very recent and has become immensely successful, thus establishing its relevance from the point of research. It mainly deals with the topic of surrogacy to further highlight certain problems impending upon the day-today lives of common semi-urban Indian women. In the first place, this film problematizes the aspect of technology that has encroached everywhere including the realm of motherhood. Secondly, it has also dealt with the question of eastern values vs western technology through a feminine lens. Apart from this, the realistic depiction of motherhood as an independent but shackling choice also deserves some attention. The film has been chosen over other socially relevant films because of its distinct concerns pervading semi-urban Indian women who lie somewhere in the middle of Eastern values and western influence. Finally, the film is chosen over other surrogacybased films for its practical representation of the concerns related to surrogate motherhood.

This long narrative poem deals with certain existing legends which have been a source of strength for the natives of Sundarban since ages. In this work, Amitav Ghoshbeautifully captures the spirit of the Jungle which stands as a grand entity inhabited by figures like Bon Bibi, Shah Jangoli, the evil Dokkhin Rai and the sometimes innocent, sometimes ignorant human beings. For the natives, the goddess-Bon Bibi is a saviour and an integral part of their identity. Irrespective of religion, people associate with her and seek solace. She commands respect and generates eco-spiritual values which renders the locals as eco-friendly people. In the current scenario, the thirdworld countries are struggling to build their post-colonial identity. The aspects of "Eco-spirituality" as upheld in this work can provide distinctness to the Indian spirit. Also, as a potential theoretical framework, this will generate ideas to the western world for sustainable development.

Both critics as well as the ordinary readers mostly receive them in a negative light. Doing so, they overlook the fact that women like these witches are relegated to the margins and share a history of being discriminated and vulnerable to attacks. Within the text, they are humiliated as the ‘weird others’ and compared to ‘bubbles’ on earth. To this date, people have the tendency to marginalize and discriminate women who posit their individuality in their socially reclusive lifestyle. While analyzing their character from a Feminist perspective, the paper will explore their trauma and identify their mischief as a source of rebellion. By making such an alternative reading of the text, the work aims to create a ‘shock-effect’ among people who continue to discriminate such marginalized women.

While most of women’s writings carry a feminist voice asserting women’s individuality, the writers of Gothic romances concentrate more on the celebration of the feminine self rather than challenging the binaries of gender. Stephenie Meyer, by putting her heroine Bella into a traditional feminine frame provides her full scope to exercise her freedom to choose even while carrying out the prescribed feminine roles. Through the analysis of the character, there will be an attempt to demonstrate that while enjoying one’s inequality how one can prove the uniqueness of one’s individuality.

An individual's characteristics are often typecast by the projection of a 'singular affiliation view'. Through the character of Dracula, an attempt will be made to demonstrate how 'singular affiliation view' can be deconstructed through 'alternative identification'. In the process, it will also examine the agencies, such as knowledge, power, and relations that make Dracula a functioning individual who lives with the ambition to empower the self.
