This study aims to prove that worksheets can be used as a medium to improve the fine motor skills of Intelligence Impaired Children . The method used in this study uses a single subject research (SSR) with an A-B-A design. Measuring and collecting data on baseline conditions (A1), providing intervention (B) with worksheet media, and baseline conditions (A2). Variable measurement using the percentage of the number of instrument items. The results showed an increase in fine motor skills cutting and sticking, where initially the baseline condition (A1) at the first and second meeting was 25%, 25%. The first to fourth interventions (B) were 33.3%, 50%, 58.3%, 62.5% and at baseline (A2) 83.3%, 83.3%. Based on these results, it shows that the worksheet is effectively used as a medium in ...

The method of this study was quasi-experiment with a matching pretest-posttest control group involving a control group with IQs of 55-70 and mental ages of 7-10. The subjects were 66 students and 45 teachers across West Java province. The results of the experiment showed that this model was proven to be significantly effective in improving reading skills and managed to change intellectually disabled children's study habits. The influential factors of linguistic awareness in improving reading skill were phonemic and syntactic awareness (path coefficient value=0.72), while the ones in visual perception awareness were discrimination and visual memory (path coefficient value=0.25). Linguistic and visual perception awareness influenced the whole reading process of children with intellectu...

Research paper thumbnail of Postural Control as Prerequisites of Handwriting for Children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Children with cerebral palsy shows wide range syndromes of brain disorder related with the motor ... more Children with cerebral palsy shows wide range syndromes of brain disorder related with the motor skills function in activity, physical, and balance limitations. This study reports postural control which includes body awareness in sitting position and movement of hand and arms in handwriting readiness for children with spastic cerebral palsy. A psycho rehabilitative approach was used as an intervention program to improve the child's basic motor skills. Experiment was conducted in a single subject research with spastic cerebral palsy at age of 6 years old. Pre-test and post-test were designed to see intervention effect on stability in stroking the line and quantity of the stroked lines. Results showed improvement in stability of stroking the lines after six session of intervention. However, the quantity of the stroked line did not meet the expected number. In conclusion the postural control using psycho rehabilitative intervention approach affect handwriting readiness. Further research is needed to define other factors that may be contributed to the ability of making a number of expected lines when the stability has actually achieved. This psycho rehabilitative approach also need to be further conducted in a classroom setting with a longer period of time and a more subject included.

Research paper thumbnail of Development of Functional Academic Assessment Instruments for Students with Intellectual Disabilities Transition Program

Journal of ICSAR, Jul 29, 2021

At the high school level, academic learning should support the skills given to students with intellectual disabilities during the transition period. Assessment is an important part that a teacher must carry out before preparing a lesson plan. A qualified assessment instrument will help teachers in the process of finding student learning needs. This study aims to develop a functional academic assessment instrument that is valid and practical to support data collection for learning purposes. The development model used is the ADDIE model with the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate stages. The results showed that the assessment instruments in the functional academic field consisted of the aspects of reading, writing, and arithmetic accompanied by guidelines for their use. The results of expert validation and product practicality tests carried out on the developed instruments are categorized as very valid, practical, and effective. Therefore, the instrument can be used as a guide in assessing learning needs in transition programs for students with intellectual disabilities.
