A 36-year-old female patient presented with a slow-growing, painless mass on the tip of her right fourth toe that had started 2 yr before being referred to the outpatient orthopaedic clinic. The patient was unable to wear her usual shoes. On physical examination, a firm, non-tender, well-demarcated mass was palpated deeply on the tip of her right fourth toe. Excisional biopsy found a benign softtissue myoepithelioma. This study showed the importance of considering myoepithelioma tumor in differentials of the toe and foot masses to avoid misdiagnosis of this rare tumor.

Therefore, surgeons should be well-trained regarding the pattern and features of GITIs. In the recent study, we aimed to describe the epidemiological features and intra-operative characteristics of all patients sustaining GITIs.Methods: A 2-year retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted in the only referral trauma center in the south of Iran, from June 2018 to September 2020. A well-formed search was conducted within the database of our center to find patients with GITIs. Demographic data, on-arrival vital signs, and the outcomes were extracted from the patients' medical records and our center's database. In addition, intraoperative features of injuries were extracted from the operation note.Result: Totally, 247 patients were detected 142 (57.5%) had blunt abdominal trauma. The most common mechanism of injury was motor vehicle acc...

The most common clinical manifestations are cough, fever, and dyspnea; however, non-specific findings are also reported. This virus affects all age groups with a predilection to the adults, but children and neonates can also be affected. Case Presentation: An 11-days-old male neonate was brought to the hospital with chief complaints of vomiting and severe watery diarrhea. All laboratory data, including the stool OB/OP test, were normal except for leukocytosis. His parents were asymptomatic. In the following, qRT-PCR from neonate’s nasopharynx reported positive. Supportive and symptomatic treatments were done. The neonate discharged from the hospital without any significant sequelae. Conclusions: Extrapulmonary manifestation of COVID-19, especially gastrointestinal findings, should be considered in neonates to avoid possible complications and further spread of...

JBI evidence synthesis, 2020

INTRODUCTION Methanol poisoning occurs in individuals or as an outbreak. Illicit productions are responsible for most methanol poisoning outbreaks; however, there are some occupational, suicidal, and homicidal incidences as well. In methanol poisoning outbreaks, medical facilities get overwhelmed quickly. The current WHO fact sheet dates back to 2014 and there have been no updates since. Based on our preliminary search, it seems that the course of methanol outbreaks has changed. INCLUSION CRITERIA The study will include peer-reviewed articles and gray papers that focus on epidemiology of methanol poisoning outbreaks. This review will consider all methanol poisoning outbreak victims without any limitation in geographical, social, cultural, or gender-based demographics. METHODS A three-step...

To find out the basics of developing a reopening roadmap, we reviewed 16 roadmaps. The most notable findings are as following: Protecting the high-risk groups, increasing testing and contact tracing capacity, making decisions scientifically, and making the decisions to impose the lowest risks to the economy were the most principles mentioned in the roadmaps. Social distancing, using a face-covering mask, and washing hands were the necessary preventive actions that were recommended for individuals. Health key metrics pointed out in the roadmaps were categorized into four subsets; sufficient preventive capacities, appropriate diagnosis capacity, appropriate epidemiological monitoring capacity, and sufficient health system capacity to be resilient in facing the surges and next phases of the pandemic. The current study aimed to determine which cut off limit of cardiovascular risk for starting intensive blood pressure reduction is beneficial. Design A Secondary Analysis of Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). Methods Data from the SPRINT Trial was obtained from the NHLBI Data Repository Center. In the SPRINT, non-diabetic participants with SBP of ≥ 130 mmHg were randomly assigned to intensive and standard treatment arms with SBP targets of < 120 and < 140 mmHg, respectively. This study analyzed data from non-diabetic participants less than 75 years of age without cardiovascular or chronic kidney disease. The primary composite outcome was myocardial infarction, and other acute coronary syndromes, stroke, heart failure, or death from cardiovascular causes. Cox regression models were used to examine the risk ...

Due to the harsh consequences of lockdowns, governments are willing to find reasonable pathways to reopen their activities. Methods: To find out the basics of developing a reopening roadmap, on 6th-10th August 2020, we conducted a systematic search on Pubmed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science, but no roadmap was found. Then, we manually searched Google to review the grey literature. Two independent authors extracted the data, and the senior author solved the discrepancies. Results: According to the search strategy, finally, sixteen roadmaps were included. Data categorized into four sections: principals, general recommendations for individuals, health key metrics, and in-phases strategy. The number of phases or stages differed from three to six, with a minimum of two weeks considered for each one. Objective To collect paediatric COVID-19 cases worldwide and to summarize both clinical and imaging findings in children who tested positive on polymerase chain reaction testing for SARS-CoV-2. Materials and methods Data were collected by completion of a standardised case report form submitted to the office of the European Society of Paediatric Radiology from March 12 to April 8, 2020. Chest imaging findings in children younger than 18 years old who tested positive on polymerase chain reaction testing for SARS-CoV-2 were included. Representative imaging studies were evaluated by multiple senior paediatric radiologists from this group with expertise in paediatric chest imaging. Results Ninety-one children were included (49 males; median age: 6.1 years, interquartile range: 1.0 to 13.0 years, range: 9 days-17 years). Most had mild symptoms, mostly fever and cough, and one-third had coexisting medical conditions. Eleven percent of children presented with severe symptoms and required intensive unit care. Chest radiographs were available in 89% of patients and 10% of them were normal. Abnormal chest radiographs showed mainly perihilar bronchial wall thickening (58%) and/or airspace consolidation (35%). Computed tomography (CT) scans were available in 26% of cases, with the most common abnormality being ground glass opacities (88%) and/or airspace consolidation (58%). Tree in bud opacities were seen in 6 of 24 CTs (25%). Lung ultrasound and chest magnetic resonance imaging were rarely utilized. Conclusion It seems unnecessary to perform chest imaging in children to diagnose COVID-19. Chest radiography can be used in symptomatic children to assess airway infection or pneumonia. CT should be reserved for when there is clinical concern to assess for possible complications, especially in children with coexisting medical conditions.

Medical students, as frontline healthcare workers, are more susceptible to be infected by the virus. The aim of this study was to assess COVID-19 related knowledge, self-reported preventive behaviors and risk perception among Iranian medical students within the first week after the onset of the outbreak in Iran. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted from 26th to 28th of February, 2020. Participants were Iranian medical students (5th-7th year) whose knowledge, preventive behaviors and risk perceptions of COVID-19 were assessed using an online questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 26 questions including 15 items about COVID-19 related knowledge, 9 items regarding preventive measures and 2 items about COVID-19 risk perception. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were shown to be satisfactory. RESULTS A total of 240 medical students completed the qu...
