Jean-Francois Jarrige, membre de l’Institut de France (Academie des Inscriptions et Belles‑Lettre... more Jean-Francois Jarrige, membre de l’Institut de France (Academie des Inscriptions et Belles‑Lettres) a marque de son empreinte l’archeologie du sous-continent indien, notamment a travers ses fouilles de Mehrgarh et de Nausaro au Baluchistan Pakistanais, faisant reculer de plusieurs millenaires le passe de l’Asie du Sud. Mais il a aussi participe a l’histoire des musees francais puisqu’il a dirige pendant vingt-deux ans le Musee national des Arts asiatiques Guimet, a Paris, dont il a mene la complete renovation. Pour lui rendre hommage, 46 chercheurs (archeologues, conservateurs, universitaires, etc.) se sont associes pour lui dedicacer vingt‑quatre articles dont la diversite temoigne des interets varies de Jean-Francois Jarrige et de la richesse des etudes orientalistes actuelles.

The excavations resulted in the discovery of a Christian church complete with two crosses made out of stucco. The building and its contents are described, and a preliminary attempt is made at determining the period of Failaka's evangelisation and of the flourishing of Christianity there.
