The aim of the present work is an investigation of wind energy potential for construction a wind ... more The aim of the present work is an investigation of wind energy potential for construction a wind farm in (Tuz-Khormatu) in Iraq using the world wind map of RETScreen software. The wind data were obtained from RETScreen and Windographer programs for 15 years and eight months. Three wind turbines were selected from the library of the RETScreen and matched with wind data to assess the potential of the proposed wind farm at the selected site (Tuz-Khormatu ).The wind turbine model (Enercon-33-50m,330KW) has the highest capacity factor 31.5% and the maximum wind energy from the wind farm 6874 MWh/year .
In this study, the preliminary economic feasibility study of the project of wind power at the sit... more In this study, the preliminary economic feasibility study of the project of wind power at the site of Al-Shehabi (Wasit-Iraq) was conducted using measured wind data at altitudes of 10 m, 30 m, 50 m and 52 m per 10 minutes. For the purpose of comparison, data from NASA space was used at the same location at 50 m height. The lowest unit cost of electricity from wind energy was found (0.0618 /Kwhand0.0786/Kwh and 0.0786 /Kwhand0.0786/Kwh) by using standard methodology Levelized cost of Energy (LCOE) equation and Net Present Value (NPV) procedure respectively. Furthermore, RETScreen software was used to perform the economic prefeasibility study of a proposed wind farm. The study concludes this site is economically feasible if a wind farm 5.0MW of ten wind turbines (EWT DW54) were erected with NPV of $11,309,956, After-tax IRR 24.7% and simple payback period 6.1 years at capacity factor of 38.34%. Finally, wind farm development will result in a reduction in greenhouse gases of 31876 tCO2 per each year. The sensitivity and risk analysis were performed and guarantee the safety of specified financial input parameters values.
The need for electricity plays a vital role in the development nature life of communities who liv... more The need for electricity plays a vital role in the development nature life of communities who live in marshes, which is far from any other electricity sources. For this regard, a stand-alone solar power system was proposed for electrification as sample solar photovoltaic system for daily used in Haur Al-Hammar at Al-Nasiriya Governorate. The assessment of 4kW peak capacity Stand-alone Solar PV system was showed to be acceptable for providing electricity for all home appliances with an access energy that could be used for future extended. This procedure can be used as a guideline design of solar power systems for electrification of many homes which close to each other. The solar photovoltaic home system could provide electricity at daylight for operation all the assumed appliances at full load with a current for appliances about 7 A for continuous 10 hours during night time at 50% depth of discharge. However, the performance ratio varies from month to month throughout the year with an average value of 50.3%.
The seasonal climate changes have direct effects on determination of crop water requirement, irri... more The seasonal climate changes have direct effects on determination of crop water requirement, irrigation scheduling and the potential of solar energy generation to operate the pumping system for watering crops. This research paper studied the technical evaluation of solar pumping and pressurized drip irrigation systems to investigate the recommended water required for suggested tomatoes crop in area of (one hectare) at AL-Salman district using measured climatic data from AL-Salman Agro-meteorological weather station for a period (2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017). The maximum average monthly of solar radiation was 7.6 kWh/m2 at June in all the years of recording data, while the minimum average monthly value was 3.37kWh/m2 at December where the sun at lowest point across the sky. The annual average hours of peak sun that corresponds to the operation time of the pumping system at maximum water consumption was calculated at eight months from March to October with a value of 7.2 hours/day, while it was 5.2 hours/day during the other four months (January, February, November and December). The Solar pumping sizing based on H-Q performance curve of a maximum flow rate of 64.45 m3/h and pump capacity of 16.79 kW with compounds motor pump efficiency of 61.2%. The total water production was 230000 m³/per year which indicates compatible overall system design and adequate to irrigate more planting land with same or other crop types.

The data of Monthly averaged daily insolation incident on a Horizontal Surface (kWh/m2/day) was obtained from NASA-SSE over the 22-year period (Jul 1983 -Jun 2005) satellite measurements. Two methods were adopted (Mathematical modeling and PVsys6.43 software package) in calculation and evaluation of the proposed project.

Th... more In a cement factory the number of employees is 150, the working time 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. The operation mode in a year of baseline year 2021 was recorded as in following: the processing of cement production line consumes an average of 200kWh to produce 200 tons /hour. If the ventilation system consumes 10kWh/hour, the process heating of for crushing limestone needs to 250kWh/hour. The cooling capacity required 40000BTU/hour (Convert to kWh/hour). The operation mode of the improved year 2022 was due to some measures of energy improvements as following:-Cement production line consumes an average of 150kWh to produce 210 tons /hour. Ventilation system consumes 8.5 kWh/hour. The cooling capacity required 25000BTU/hour.(Convert to kWh/hour) Calculate the values of all the following:

Many remote populated areas in the world are still without power as those are so far from the centralized grids. For the locations where the renewable energy sources as (wind, solar, water power system .etc), are available, it is ideally to benefit from the integration of these systems and generate their own electricity from their local resources[1].
