This research paper has explored the semiopragmatics of disruption in the eye of youngsters, on h... more This research paper has explored the semiopragmatics of disruption in the eye of youngsters, on how the form, the meaning, and the effect are seen by youngsters. The forms and the meanings are obtained from the URLs or web-sites (web-data) and the effects are obtained from the responses by 100 Indonesian millennial youngsters. This research has a semio-pragmatic design with a literature review through interpretive techniques and a coding analysis. The research findings show that disruption commonly refers to the ideologies of disturbance, disorder, interruption, confusion, and break. Most Indonesian youngsters are aware of living in the disruptive era, but they have different responses on the ideologies as well as on disruption as an icon, as an index, and as a symbol. Youngsters also have different opinions on disruptive era as a barrier, as an opportunity, and as a challenge. These positive attitudes of youngsters are beneficial to the advancement of Indonesia, as its young millennial generation are optimistic and prepared to face their future. The government should see this fact and should make efforts to encourage youngsters to exercise as well as to develop their potentials for the present and future advancement of Indonesia.

This study aims to discuss "Links in Journey of Idea to Product in Creative Writing". The study e... more This study aims to discuss "Links in Journey of Idea to Product in Creative Writing". The study explores influencing elements in creative writing process up to be a literary work as a masterpiece. Methods of the study consist of qualitative design in explaining discourse, library research in collecting data, and causal approach in answering the problem statement that is how and why creative writing can promote local culture. Units of analysis cover the factors in the elements building the literary work as the product of creative writing conducted by author. Writing is a form of personal freedom. It frees the author from the mass identity he or she sees all around. In the end, he or she will write not to be outlaw hero of some under culture but mainly to save him or herself, to survive as individuals. Furthermore, creative writing is anything in which the purpose is to express thoughts, feelings and emotions rather than to simply convey information.

This review paper has explored politeness in non-verbal form to come to hints for indicating the ... more This review paper has explored politeness in non-verbal form to come to hints for indicating the ideology. Politeness in non-verbal form is researched by reviewing verbal politeness theories through interpretive techniques, and then the data in form of interpreted hints based on the reviews are analyzed by employing a coding technique. The six non-verbal hints of politeness found out based on the theoretical reviews are silence for politeness, gestures for politeness, gifts for politeness, observance of norms, rules, and regulations for politeness, adjusted behavior for politeness, and performance for politeness. The hints expectedly provide a sufficient account for non-verbal politeness in interactions or communication between a speaker and a hearer. The findings also encourage promoting harmony among speakers of languages in non-verbal interactions or communication, especially in formal situations or in the general public. The hints are hopefully also worth considering in the context of English language teaching and learning across languages and cultures in the world.

Paradigma kualitatif ethnografis digunakan untuk mendapatkan gambaran fenomena pendidikan keluarga wanita lokal Indonesia yang bersuamikan ekspatriat secara alamiah dan sesuai dengan latar tempat dan budayanya dan digunakan untuk mendapatkan deskripsi menyeluruh tentang cara wanita lokal istri ekspatriat memberikan pendidikan keluarga kepada anak serta melihat cara pandang dan bertindak masyarakat sesuai dengan kondisi tempat mereka, melalui pengamatan dan wawancara yang mendetil. Hasil penelitian adalah rancangan model pendidikan keluarga bagi wanita lokal istri ekspatriat untuk menanamkan nilai budaya lokal dan nilai positif budaya asing pada anak adalah model konseptual dan model prosedural. Model konseptual merupakan deskripsi verbal sebuah pandangan atas realitas. Model ini bersifat deskriptif yang mendeskripsikan peristiwa relevan berdasarkan proses deduktif dari logika atau analisis dan juga kesimpulan dari observasi. Model prosedural berbentuk preskriptif yang didefinisikan dengan aturan yang jelas tentang kegiatan-kegiatan,tindakan, tugas, dan hasil kerja yang diperlukan untuk mengembangkan softskill berkualitas tinggi.

The study entitled "Actantial Model in The Owl and The Pussy Cat by Edward Lear: A Narrative... more The study entitled "Actantial Model in The Owl and The Pussy Cat by Edward Lear: A Narrative Scheme on Poem " revealed a narration scheme to find out three models in narration text, namely the function model, action model, and narration model realized in the poem. The approach used to solve the problem is a structuralism approach by using Greimas' Actant theoretical base. The method of data collection in this study is objective literary research. Presentation of data processing is a report using the qualitative description design. The benefits of this study are expected to be one of the developments in literary studies, especially the study of poetic literary works for future students, teachers, researchers and literary critics. The results of this study are the discussion of narration schemes, which consist of the functional model, action model, and narration model of the poem.

This scientific article is entitled "Synchronizing between Lasswell's Communication Model and Abr... more This scientific article is entitled "Synchronizing between Lasswell's Communication Model and Abrams' Critical Orientation as a Sophisticated Concept of Literary Communication and Its Associated Studies". By using a multidisciplinary study, one study in solving a problem using various points of view of many relevant sciences in this case, such as literature and communication science, the research question of this article is synchronizing between Lasswell's Communication Model and Abrams' Critical Orientation as a Sophisticated Concept of Literary Communication and Its Associated Studies. The literature review used as a scientific foundation in conducting this theoretical review, among others, is Nature of Literature and Literary Works, Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic: Mind Structure and Topography, Intertextuality Act, Mayer Howard Abrams' Critical Orientation, and Harold Dwight Lasswell's Communication Model. The design of this article represents a theoretical review of a comparative study between communication science and literary studies. The technique of data analysis used is Lasswell's model to describe components of literary communication and its associated studies. The results of this article are the components of literary communication consisting of the source as the ideas, the artist as the communicator, the main idea in literary work as the message, the figurative language as media, and the audience as the receiver, and impact as the effect. The studies of each component are that mimetic, expressive, objective, and pragmatic studies.

Salah satu alasan kritis dalam perkembangan keragaman ilmu pengetahuan masa kini adalah polemik dalam memahami hakikat, kemanfaatan dan metodologinya. Setiap ilmu pengetahuan memiliki sarana observasi dan teori tertentu. Setiap ilmu pengetahuan mempunyai tipe hipotesis tertentu. Keragaman ilmu pengetahuan tidak hanya terletak dalam objek materialnya saja, tetapi juga terutama karena objek formalnya. Orang kurang tertarik pada ilmu sastra dengan alasan ilmu sastra dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang abstrak, sebagai ilmu yang tidak diminati dan tidak memberikan kepastian. Secara aksiologi, yaitu aspek kemanfaatan ilmu pengetahuan, mempelajari ilmu sastra merupakan salah satu kemungkinan yang terbuka bagi manusia untuk membuka problemantika kemanusiaan. Ilmu sastra merupakan ilmu pengetahuan yang berada dalam institusi pendidikan tinggi, yaitu dalam Fakultas Bahasa dan Sastra, Fakultas Ilmu Humaniora, atau Fakultas Ilmu Pengatahuan Budaya. Salah satu cara memahami suatu ilmu pengetahuan adalah dengan mengetahui kemanfaatan ilmu tersebut bagi masyarakat.

This paper entitles "Alternative Development and Implementation of Teaching English Poetry to You... more This paper entitles "Alternative Development and Implementation of Teaching English Poetry to Young Learners" revealing the way to teach English poetry to young learners. To implement this way of teaching, young learners will learn to recognize and practice (1) how to analyse poetry to develop intellectual skill and (2) how to reproduce poetry to motivate creativity skill. By achieving the two skills, the young learners are able to apply literary research and creative writing especially on English poetry. The inspiring moment to share this paper can be seen from any aspect in teaching English poetry such as cases, challenges, understandings, and mindsets in studying English poetry. The cases are (1) young learners dislike poetry or poem, moreover any literary work, and (2) Because poetry can be ambiguous and complex, many young learners fear and shy away from poetry. The challenges in learning poetry are (1) it is true poetry can be very laconic in nature with multiple forms of interpretation, and then (2) in essence, poetry is open to interpretation and poetry as a creative form of writing, is no exception as long as there are concrete facts or well formed arguments to support an interpretation. To develop and implement this way in teaching English poetry are expected to be the objectives after finishing the process such as (1) young learners should understand the importance of literary work for life, (2) assisting young learners in formulating their own poetic interpretation and creativity, (3) young learners should not, by any means, feel frighten to express their thoughts, ideas, questions while attempting to interpret a poem, and (4) they are interested in interpreting and creative writing in all part of excitement and mystery of learning English poetry. The mindsets that can be shared-knowledge at least is young learners are happy and fun to express their thoughts, ideas, questions while attempting to interpret and create a poem. The benefit of the paper is that the way in teaching English poetry can be a helpful model to English teachers, learners, and translators of any languages.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas muatan budaya dalam produk menulis kreatif dalam pemahaman bagaimana budaya lokal dapat dipromosikan melalui menulis kreatif. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi unsur-unsur yang berpengaruh dalam proses penulisan kreatif hingga menjadi sebuah karya sastra sebagai sebuah karya utama. Metode penelitian ini berupa desain kualitatif dalam menjelaskan wacana, penelitian kepustakaan dalam mengumpulkan data, dan pendekatan kasual dalam menjawab pertanyaan penelitian yaitu bagaimana dan mengapa menulis kreatif dapat mempromosikan budaya lokal. Analisis unit meliputi faktor dalam unsur-unsur yang membangun karya sastra sebagai produk dari menulis kreatif yang dilakukan oleh penulis. Menulis adalah betuk kebebasan pribadi. The study offers variant translations of Robert Burns' A Red, Red Rose has written in Indonesian.... more The study offers variant translations of Robert Burns' A Red, Red Rose has written in Indonesian. The research design of this paper is qualitative descriptive, in any case, the source of the data is a text of poem presented in a description of the products of translating the poem; The source of data is the original Scots dialect Poem text of Robert Burns' A Red, Red Rose, as the source text (ST). The units of analysis are words, phrases, and sentences in lines and stanzas of the poem. In translating process, the writer conducts three steps. Those are (1) analysing the source text by close reading using syntactic framework by identifying clause and sentences in order to comprehend the substance of the text, (2) Transferring the meaning of the source text into the target text. This step can be defined as evaluation and revision activity in creating appropriate equivalence, and (3) restructuring the equivalence meaning to the target text. The significant findings of the study as the implication are Indonesian translation variants of Robert Burn's A Red, Red Rose and helpful model to English teachers, learners, and translators of any language.

The study entitled "Actantial Model in The Owl and The Pussy Cat by Edward Lear: A Narrative... more The study entitled "Actantial Model in The Owl and The Pussy Cat by Edward Lear: A Narrative Scheme on Poem " revealed a narration scheme to find out three models in narration text, namely the function model, action model, and narration model realized in the poem. The approach used to solve the problem is a structuralism approach by using Greimas' Actant theoretical base. The method of data collection in this study is objective literary research. Presentation of data processing is a report using the qualitative description design. The benefits of this study are expected to be one of the developments in literary studies, especially the study of poetic literary works for future students, teachers, researchers and literary critics. The results of this study are the discussion of narration schemes, which consist of the functional model, action model, and narration model of the poem.

This scientific article is entitled "Synchronizing between Lasswell's Communication Model and Abr... more This scientific article is entitled "Synchronizing between Lasswell's Communication Model and Abrams' Critical Orientation as a Sophisticated Concept of Literary Communication and Its Associated Studies". By using a multidisciplinary study, one study in solving a problem using various points of view of many relevant sciences in this case, such as literature and communication science, the research question of this article is synchronizing between Lasswell's Communication Model and Abrams' Critical Orientation as a Sophisticated Concept of Literary Communication and Its Associated Studies. The literature review used as a scientific foundation in conducting this theoretical review, among others, is Nature of Literature and Literary Works, Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic: Mind Structure and Topography, Intertextuality Act, Mayer Howard Abrams' Critical Orientation, and Harold Dwight Lasswell's Communication Model. The design of this article represents a theoretical review of a comparative study between communication science and literary studies. The technique of data analysis used is Lasswell's model to describe components of literary communication and its associated studies. The results of this article are the components of literary communication consisting of the source as the ideas, the artist as the communicator, the main idea in literary work as the message, the figurative language as media, and the audience as the receiver, and impact as the effect. The studies of each component are that mimetic, expressive, objective, and pragmatic studies.

Salah satu alasan kritis dalam perkembangan keragaman ilmu pengetahuan masa kini adalah polemik dalam memahami hakikat, kemanfaatan dan metodologinya. Setiap ilmu pengetahuan memiliki sarana observasi dan teori tertentu. Setiap ilmu pengetahuan mempunyai tipe hipotesis tertentu. Keragaman ilmu pengetahuan tidak hanya terletak dalam objek materialnya saja, tetapi juga terutama karena objek formalnya. Orang kurang tertarik pada ilmu sastra dengan alasan ilmu sastra dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang abstrak, sebagai ilmu yang tidak diminati dan tidak memberikan kepastian. Secara aksiologi, yaitu aspek kemanfaatan ilmu pengetahuan, mempelajari ilmu sastra merupakan salah satu kemungkinan yang terbuka bagi manusia untuk membuka problemantika kemanusiaan. Ilmu sastra merupakan ilmu pengetahuan yang berada dalam institusi pendidikan tinggi, yaitu dalam Fakultas Bahasa dan Sastra, Fakultas Ilmu Humaniora, atau Fakultas Ilmu Pengatahuan Budaya. Salah satu cara memahami suatu ilmu pengetahuan adalah dengan mengetahui kemanfaatan ilmu tersebut bagi masyarakat.

This paper entitles "Alternative Development and Implementation of Teaching English Poetry to You... more This paper entitles "Alternative Development and Implementation of Teaching English Poetry to Young Learners" revealing the way to teach English poetry to young learners. To implement this way of teaching, young learners will learn to recognize and practice (1) how to analyse poetry to develop intellectual skill and (2) how to reproduce poetry to motivate creativity skill. By achieving the two skills, the young learners are able to apply literary research and creative writing especially on English poetry. The inspiring moment to share this paper can be seen from any aspect in teaching English poetry such as cases, challenges, understandings, and mindsets in studying English poetry. The cases are (1) young learners dislike poetry or poem, moreover any literary work, and (2) Because poetry can be ambiguous and complex, many young learners fear and shy away from poetry. The challenges in learning poetry are (1) it is true poetry can be very laconic in nature with multiple forms of interpretation, and then (2) in essence, poetry is open to interpretation and poetry as a creative form of writing, is no exception as long as there are concrete facts or well formed arguments to support an interpretation. To develop and implement this way in teaching English poetry are expected to be the objectives after finishing the process such as (1) young learners should understand the importance of literary work for life, (2) assisting young learners in formulating their own poetic interpretation and creativity, (3) young learners should not, by any means, feel frighten to express their thoughts, ideas, questions while attempting to interpret a poem, and (4) they are interested in interpreting and creative writing in all part of excitement and mystery of learning English poetry. The mindsets that can be shared-knowledge at least is young learners are happy and fun to express their thoughts, ideas, questions while attempting to interpret and create a poem. The benefit of the paper is that the way in teaching English poetry can be a helpful model to English teachers, learners, and translators of any languages.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas muatan budaya dalam produk menulis kreatif dalam pemahaman bagaimana budaya lokal dapat dipromosikan melalui menulis kreatif. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi unsur-unsur yang berpengaruh dalam proses penulisan kreatif hingga menjadi sebuah karya sastra sebagai sebuah karya utama. Metode penelitian ini berupa desain kualitatif dalam menjelaskan wacana, penelitian kepustakaan dalam mengumpulkan data, dan pendekatan kasual dalam menjawab pertanyaan penelitian yaitu bagaimana dan mengapa menulis kreatif dapat mempromosikan budaya lokal. Analisis unit meliputi faktor dalam unsur-unsur yang membangun karya sastra sebagai produk dari menulis kreatif yang dilakukan oleh penulis. Menulis adalah betuk kebebasan pribadi. The study offers variant translations of Robert Burns' A Red, Red Rose has written in Indonesian.... more The study offers variant translations of Robert Burns' A Red, Red Rose has written in Indonesian. The research design of this paper is qualitative descriptive, in any case, the source of the data is a text of poem presented in a description of the products of translating the poem; The source of data is the original Scots dialect Poem text of Robert Burns' A Red, Red Rose, as the source text (ST). The units of analysis are words, phrases, and sentences in lines and stanzas of the poem. In translating process, the writer conducts three steps. Those are (1) analysing the source text by close reading using syntactic framework by identifying clause and sentences in order to comprehend the substance of the text, (2) Transferring the meaning of the source text into the target text. This step can be defined as evaluation and revision activity in creating appropriate equivalence, and (3) restructuring the equivalence meaning to the target text. The significant findings of the study as the implication are Indonesian translation variants of Robert Burn's A Red, Red Rose and helpful model to English teachers, learners, and translators of any language.

This review paper has explored politeness in non-verbal form to come to hints for indicating the ... more This review paper has explored politeness in non-verbal form to come to hints for indicating the ideology. Politeness in non-verbal form is researched by reviewing verbal politeness theories through interpretive techniques, and then the data in form of interpreted hints based on the reviews are analyzed by employing a coding technique. The six non-verbal hints of politeness found out based on the theoretical reviews are silence for politeness, gestures for politeness, gifts for politeness, observance of norms, rules, and regulations for politeness, adjusted behavior for politeness, and performance for politeness. The hints expectedly provide a sufficient account for non-verbal politeness in interactions or communication between a speaker and a hearer. The findings also encourage promoting harmony among speakers of languages in non-verbal interactions or communication, especially in formal situations or in the general public. The hints are hopefully also worth considering in the context of English language teaching and learning across languages and cultures in the world.
