The proposed antenna uses FR-4 substrate having thickness of 1.6mm and dielectric constant of 4.4. This antenna achieves an enhanced impedance bandwidth of 2.98GHz. Most of the work in cognitive radio domain has been done in the frequency range of 3.1GHz to 10 GHz, but this paper presents a CMA operating over frequency band of 0.6GHz to3.58GHz. The proposed antenna was designed and analyzed by using software HFSS (Higher frequency simulation software) 13.0 which is suitable for cognitive radio applications.

The proposed antenna uses FR-4 substrate having thickness of 1.6mm and dielectric constant of 4.4. By using two switches a combination of wideband and narrowband antennas into the same substrate is designed. The antenna can be used as a wideband antenna when both switches are in on position. Micro strip-fed planer glass-shaped monopole operates from 2.6 GHz to 12.6 GHz which is used as a sensing antenna. The narrowband antenna designed to operate from 9.4- 12.08GHz (s1 on, s2 off), 6.68-9.4GHz, 10.76-12.37GHz (s1 off, s2 on), 9.62-12.62GHz, 4.09-4.2GHz (s1 off, s2 off). The proposed antenna was designed by using software HFSS 13.0 (Higher frequency simulation software).

The proposed microstrip-feed antenna mainly consists of a compact circular monopole antenna (CMA) with defected patch structure and two conducting rectangular strip parallel to feed line for cognitive radio application is presented. The design considerations for achieving wideband and reconfiguration operation of the proposed antenna are discussed. Ground plane is shaped so that they can simultaneously satisfy the requirement of impedance matching with 50ohm tr ansmission line. The proposed antenna uses FR-4 substrate having thickness of 1.6mm and dielectric constant of 4.4. This antenna achieves an enhanced impedance bandwidth of 184.12 %. Most of the work in cognitive radio domain has been done in the frequency range of 3.1GHz to 10 GHz, but this paper presents a circular monopole antenna operating over frequency band of 800MH...
