The present study was conducted to translate and validate the Academic Resilience Scale (Martin &... more The present study was conducted to translate and validate the Academic Resilience Scale (Martin & Marsh 2006) in Urdu on Pakistani school students. For this purpose, forward and backward translation method (Brislin, 1976) was utilized to translate original English version into Urdu. Urdu version had high test-retest reliability coefficient i.e., r =.903**. For validation, a sample of 340 students was selected conveniently from different schools Multan, Pakistan. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed to measure the factor structure of scale and it was discovered to be one-dimensional. ARS-Urdu version had significantly good reliability coefficient (α = .843). The scale validity and reliability were found to be satisfactory. Therefore, its findings demonstrated that it is appropriate for measuring academic resilience of school students.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the incidence of anxiety and depression among AMI patients ... more Objective: This study aimed to assess the incidence of anxiety and depression among AMI patients during COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan. Material & Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted from February 27 to June 2, 2020, at the Cardiology ward of Dera Ghazi Khan Teaching Hospital. Total 611 patients selected through convenience sampling. The patients were requested to respond to Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and demographic information. An independent samples t test was applied for comparisons. Results: Patients' age was ranging from 41 to 79 years, with a mean age of 52.35 ± 5.12. There was a high frequency of anxiety (51.72%) and depression (34.86%) among AMI patients. A significant difference was observed in the level of anxiety (p = 0.001) and depression (p = 0.000) among male and female patients. Conclusion: The present study findings affirmed that increased level of anxiety and depression are prevalent in AMI patients. Additionally, both anxiety and depressive symptoms were more common in female patients.

This study utilizes cross-sectional survey research design, by employing a sample of 340 students conveniently approached from different schools of Multan, Pakistan. Data is collected through Academic Resilience Scale-Urdu version (Fatima, 2021), Academic Self-Concept Questionnaire-Urdu version (Fatima, 2021) and grade/percentage obtained in a test for academic achievement. The result of the correlation coefficient shows academic resilience, academic achievement and academic self-concept are positively as well as significantly correlated. The findings of the linear regression depict that academic achievement is significantly predicted by academic resilience and academic self-concept. Methodology: This cross sectional study was conducted at Cardiology CentreMultan from 1 February to 31 August, 2016. As the study was of particularimportance for examining the significance of coping strategies used bycaregivers to cope with their burden during treatment of CHD patients; the gender,age, relationship with recipient, and duration of disease were taken asindependent variables. Information about independent variables, copingstrategies, and burden were collected using scales; Way of Coping Scale andZarit Burden Interview Scale respectively. Results: A total of 312 care givers were included. The analyses from structureequation model affirmed the moderating roles of different coping strategies.Findings showed that female caregivers used emotion focused strategies andmale caregivers used problem focused strategies. Results demonstrated thateffects of age, relationship with recipient, and duration of disease weremoderated by coping strategies; emotion focused (B = .31, p >.01) andproblem focused (B=.25, p >.01). Conclusion: Based upon the statistical analyses, present findings added to theliterature by affirming the role of caregivers coping ways in dealing with theirburden. Effects of caregivers' gender, age, relationship with patient, and durationof CHD are significant and are moderated by coping strategies.

This study was conducted to (a) examine the correlation, coefficient matrix of internet usage wit... more This study was conducted to (a) examine the correlation, coefficient matrix of internet usage with social connectedness, life contentment and learning achievement of undergraduate university students, (b) evaluate the impact of internet usage on social connectedness, life contentment and learning achievement of undergraduate university students, and (c) determine the gender differences in internet usage, social connectedness, life contentment and learning achievement of undergraduate university students. It was a descriptive study and adopted a survey approach. Its population consisted of undergraduate university students of the Departments of Social Sciences of the Bahuddin Zakariya University Multan, Pakistan. A sample of 300 students evenly divided into gender (150 male students & 150 female students) was taken conveniently from the population. The data were collected by using Internet Usage Scale (Wanajak, 2011), Social Connectedness Scale (Lee and Robbins, 1995), Contentment with Life Assessment Scale (Lavallee, Hatch, Michalos and Mckinley, (2007); whereas, learning achievement was measured through CGPA obtained by students. Results indicated significant correlations of internet usage with social connectedness, life contentment and learning achievement. Findings also demonstrated that internet usage has a significant impact on social connectedness, life contentment and learning achievement of undergraduate university students. The significant difference appeared regarding gender of the respondents in the level of internet usage and social connectedness, whereas no gender differences were found regarding life contentment and learning achievement of the undergraduate university students.
