However, in the recent past, there has been a gradual decline in use of group tutorials discussions due large classes a lecturer is expected to teach. With the advent of emerging technologies such as cloud computing there is need to rethinking about how tutorials can be conducted in order to retain its benefits. This paper reports on an online tutorial management system (Tutmas) developed to improve the management of tutorials. It is based on research conducted at Kenyatta University where respondents were identified through snowballing. Data was collected through questionnaires, interviews and observations then Agile Software Development approach was used to develop the platform. Tutmas is a platform that provides lecturers with a forum to setup classes, add tutorial questions or topics, schedule class presentations, monitor group activities and assess the performance of individual groups. On the other hand, students are able to enrol in tutorial groups, indentify questions to write on, collaborate in writing the paper, upload and share the final papers to class members.

It adopted descriptive survey design where the target population was limited to; 24 secondary schools, 24 head teachers and 100 geography teachers. Purposive sampling was used to select the sample, which comprised of: 40 respondents; 30 geography teachers and 10 head teachers. Piloting: validity and reliability of research instruments was conducted in two schools; one from a Sub-County school and the other from a day secondary school to pre-test and adjust the instruments. Validity was ensured by face, construct, and content validity while test re-test technique ensured instruments' reliability. Data was collected using: questionnaires; for geography teachers, and interview guides; for head teachers. The findings were analysed both quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitative data was analysed using measures of central tendency to determine the mode and mean. Measures of spread were used to determine the standard deviation. Qualitative data was processed by first sorting and discussing responses for each item according to the objectives before editing, coding and reporting through descriptive narrative of the views, experiences and opinions of both geography teachers and head teachers. From the findings of the study, majority of the respondents had not attended in-service training and therefore, were not conversant with the concept of the CBC. It was therefore, concluded that, a good number of them were struggling with the concept of the CBC and lacked the capacity demanded by the CBC framework. It was established that teachers should be subjected to in-service training to be equipped with core competencies. Early preparedness would encourage them to be proactive in initiating subject dialogue in order to increase their experience hence enhancing the implementation of the CBC.

English grammar, specifically, covers a wide area in the English syllabus, as it is present in all the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and vocabulary. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of videos on students' achievement in English grammar. To achieve this, the study examined whether video based instruction that was developed using David Jonassen's constructivist principles could have any impact on students' achievement. This study utilized a mixed method design, specifically the Convergent / parallel approach. Videos were integrated in the teaching of grammar in the treatment group whereas students in the control group learnt the same topics using conventional methods. Quantitative data were analyzed using t-tests. The statistical significance of the results was examined at the confidence level of 95%. Qualitative data analysis considered the findings from observation and inferences from the opinions of the respondents in the interviews. Findings revealed that videos utilized on the basis of Jonassen' characteristics of meaningful learning had a positive influence on the performance in grammar. In addition, the study found out that teaching and learning grammar with videos was interesting, engaging, interactive and rewarding.

The portion of this study presented here used survey techniques and specifically addressed the student teachers' perspectives on the preparation processes, and ability to plan, instruct and use feedback to improve instruction in teaching practice. Stratified sampling of student teachers (n=360) and supervisor (n=240) was used. The student teacher questionnaire covered several educational components such, as professionalism, lesson material preparation, content knowledge, teaching performance skills, and reflection based on classroom observation feedback. The major findings were student teachers inability to integrate Information Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching, a gap in the teacher education curriculum on the role of ICT in teacher education, and lack of supportive supervisory feedback to the teacher candidates during teaching practice. The study recommends mapping of teacher education courses to ensure that ICT and expert feedback are covered before teaching practice by offering coursework on modern accessible ICT and facilitating rigorous microteaching experiences.
