Questions have been raised in past as to what led to crisis, people who were instrumental in driving the downturn and people affected by same1. Speed and force without direction can be destructive and the global financial crisis has set a clear tone and precedent to this effect thereby affecting trade, commerce, financial channels, and more. One of the other areas that was also significantly affected was the real estate sector.

If so, why do businessmen often resort to and rely on ‘a man’s word’ knowing that a transaction may involve inherent risks? Even in the current investment climate, are contracting parties now employing more sophisticated or advanced risk planning and management policies or pleasantries and ambiguity in contracts still continue to operate? If the objective of contractual clauses is to cement the relationship between the parties then why is such binding effect often flexible and informal? Would imposition of strict legal sanctions disrupt the relationship of two contracting parties? The term contract as per standard contract law textbook theory is nothing but meeting of ‘wills’ or ‘minds’. If the will is really free, why can it not change its mind? Will holding parties strictly to their promises, operate harshly and unfairly in many instances?

Back then, it did not serve an easy task, to locate that unearthed gem- the buyer, who sold that specific commodity in return for the ideal trade. Ergo, early humans carved giant coin stones in order to project the concept of money and stabilize trade. From there, one can easily trace the evolution of money up a progressive rope of intelligence to the passbooks and ATM cards in our wallets today. However, can these passbooks and ATM cards be considered the peak form of modern currency? Could one truly convince themselves these forms of money will abstain from evolving any further? Well, if that were the case, we would find ourselves accompanied by bags filled with vintage coins and stones whilst making payment at the local store. In order to meet the needs of the modern era, human beings have advanced from carving the value of currency on rocks and stones to the minting of bitcoins on powerful computers not disregarding the fact that bags filled with stones would prove very heavy! In this issue of Court Uncourt, our attorneys will discuss various dynamic legal topics including the role of the multi-level marketing strategy in the bitcoin industry. The issue renders our readers with a lucid understanding of the legalities surrounding the modern forms of currency in the global sphere we live in today. We welcome you to this issue of Court Uncourt wishing you a rich and insightful read!

Today, the access given to us by the internet is so expansive that we can do anything from ordering a meal, to attending classes and obtaining a degree, by the simple click of a button; and its payments, of course! However, what may have slipped your mind is the Internet’s effect on the legal platform. Protracted legal processes and the need for parties to be physically present in court has proved to be a bane to all litigants. Therefore, the Dubai Courts recently dipped its feet in the internet pool by permitting parties to register cases online without the mandate of being present at court. What may be concluded by the beginning of this swim is that, the positive reach of the internet has made its way to the legal profession by eliminating the hassle that parties endure in a lawsuit. Is it too far a stretch to hope that in a few years we might not have to get out of our houses for anything other than to pay the internet bill? In this issue of Court Uncourt, our attorneys will discuss a motley of topics ranging from the legalities involved in this recent innovation by the Dubai Courts to the ambit of the new real estate law that is set to elevate the Indian real estate industry to international standards. We welcome you at the gates of this electronic age and thank you once again.

Previously, sports enthusiasts could be seen strolling through arenas and football grounds. However, the twenty-first century has proved to be quite a paradox to this axiom. With today’s sumptuous technology, one does not even need to break a sweat to enjoy his favourite football match in another corner of the globe. Topics of health and sport could easily render the image of a tall, sharp man in our minds; late Muhammed Ali. Not so long ago, we were celebrating his famous knock-out victory over Sonny Liston. He could arguably be described as one of the greatest boxers in history and the most thriving athlete of all time. However, the next Muhammed Ali might as well be enjoying the boxing spirit on a wide flat television in the comforts of his bedroom couch!
Did you know that boxing was first introduced as an Olympic sport as early as 688 BC in Ancient Greece? The concept of sport is most probably as old as humanity itself. It has affected popular modern culture and profoundly reflected on the diverse attitude and structure of the social platform. Although sports may be considered an unswerving backdrop to our life, its sheer popularity may imply an awful lot of potential issues. This edition of Court Uncourt aims to knock-open the dynamic topic of sport law, keeping our readers on their toes on the legalities surrounding one of the most influential industries of our generation. We welcome you to this arena and thank you once more.

Speaking of soda-cans, it is a genius outcome of industrial design! 75% of these cans are made from aluminum - the third most common element in nature represents 8% of the earth’s crust (after oxygen and silicon) and is one of the lightest metals on our planet (yes, microlattice is lightest, we agree!). Besides its lightness these cans are easy to stack, hold, open, print, design and are even nonrusty! A soda-can can really outdo other traditional cans! By the way… did you know that the can industry and beverage manufacturers have to comply with international legal standards to ensure the quality and integrity of their products?

Besides its lightness these cans are easy to stack, hold, open, print, design and are even nonrusty! A soda-can can really outdo other traditional cans! By the way… did you know that the can industry and beverage manufacturers have to comply with international legal standards to ensure the quality and integrity of their products?
Whether you just opened the previous issue of Court Uncourt to read more about ‘pull-tab’, or if you just want to know more about legal regulation, Welcome to Court Uncourt - your guide to all things legal. We are back with our third issue with some very interesting articles written by our team at STA. By the way… regarding the wi-fi enabled perfumes, we heard they are out of stock!

The term implies that proceedings relating to Justice are slow in general. But what would the citizens of the world think of legal regimes if justice was labeled, indeed more descriptively, as Slow Justice? In the world, as we know it, the law has become an effective development tool that helps organize and manage the societies we live in. If a dispute arises between individuals or companies, there is a recourse to resolve the conflict: the legal authorities of the state. The problem occurs when this body is not performing its job efficiently, or at least not well enough. In this case, we are all left with no adequate protection. Most legal regimes today undertake lengthy processes to solve cases. It may be unfair to criticize this aspect of such bodies insofar as the lengthy process ensures a fair decision, but in some regard, the time courts take to pronounce a judgment can have a detrimental effect on the parties: additional costs, delay in serving the fine or sentence.
In this issue of Court Uncourt, our astute attorneys will explain a broad range of legal matters, ranging from speedy justice to the legality surrounding marketing of foreign funds in the UAE. Or it could have been caused due to the continental drifting of tectonic plates beneath the earth’s surface. However, neither geography nor the laws of
physics can bind our legal boundaries. The metaphisicality of legal borders result in the enforcement of international agreements, courts and arbitration proceedings to provide another realm of jurisdiction that does not reside within the existing norms.
Therefore, the International Court of Justice came into existence to enforce the scope of international law which falls outside domestic legislation. However, there exists a thin boundary illuminating the superiority of national law over international law. Ergo, to implement an international judgment means to allow the metaphysical border to surpass the traditional geographical border. In this issue of Court Uncourt, our renowned attorneys will not only expand on the legality and reach of national and international jurisdictions but also discuss issues
ranging from fair dealing to debt recovery in the maritime sector, among others. By this, we intend to keep our readers updated on the latest legal developments in the jurisdictions they reside in. Thank you, and we wish you an insightful read of this issue of Court Uncourt.

Occasionally a yellow or white carrot may have popped up in the vegetable patch, but these were considered as mutations and were thrown on the compost heap – until Dutch farmers began to use such cast-o s to develop the orange variety that adorns our grocery store shelves today. The newly-developed orange carrot proved to be a commercial success, and the once-unremarkable purple root crop transformed into one of the world’s most popular vegetables.
The law is a 17th century purple carrot - despite being omnipresent, it doesn’t capture the fascination and interest of the general public. And we at STA are your Dutch farmers, presenting prevalent legal topics in a new and appealing fashion for your consumption.
Welcome back to Court Uncourt – the orange carrot of the legal newsstand! Our newest issue is sure to tingle your legal taste buds with a variety of trending discussions on the law of the UAE and beyond. Bon appetite!

A more harmonious world is fashioned where business, social, and legal cultures intertwine. With the concept of survival of the fittest in mind, you might not initially believe it, but the need to symmetrically co-exist and get along can be said to be a fundamental human nature. Globalization, therefore, facilitates the standardization of systems to streamline the ideas and implementation thereof, in various jurisdictions.
As a result, the legal world is witnessing the effects of worldwide integration on adjudication, contractual drafting, and everything that may follow. The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils - FIDIC) applies the concept of integration by providing templates that are used as guides to drafting contracts internationally. The requirement of such synchronized documents succor in maintaining equitability and uniformity. So, would these harmonized and aligned legal systems result in the efficacious delivery of justice, promised by law?
In this issue of Court Uncourt, our astute international attorneys aim to clarify the application of and equitability of various legal matters ranging from maritime arbitration to Islamic financial leasing. We intend to provide our readers with a clear picture on these legal issues by providing a substantial analysis on each topic. Thank you and we wish you an insightful read in this issue of Court Uncourt.

In 1990 a professor at an American university asked that very question, and the “State of the Village” was born. Now often called the “Global 100”, this study considers the statistics of a hypothetical situation in which the world was reduced to a village of 100 people proportionally representing the global population. Here, 3 people would speak Arabic and 5 would speak English. 5 would speak Spanish and 3 would speak Hindi; 12 would speak Chinese and 3 would speak Portuguese. 3 would speak Bengali, 2 would speak Japanese and 2 would speak Russian. The remaining 62 would speak different languages altogether. 17 would be illiterate, 78 would have no access to a computer or the internet, and only 7 would have completed higher education.
