Most masses are benign, but breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. The Study is done with an aim of assessing the added and singular dependability of modified triple testing in making a pre-procedural diagnosis of a breast lump. A random sample of 150 patients attending the surgery outpatient department was taken. Of the 150 patients presenting with breast lumps most of the lumps were painless 81.3%(n=122),10% (n=16)of the lumps were associated with pain and 8%(n=12) were associated with nipple discharge. A fine collaboration between experienced radiologists, cytologist and the Clinician is required.Ultrasound when replacing mammography serves as effective an imaging modality in palpable breast lumps and is more comprehensive.Ultrasound breast aids biopsy techniques by guidance to the representative area than increasing yield. They are situated between the muscular layers of the abdominal wall and can be easily overlooked because of abdominal obesity. Generally difficult to diagnose because of their location and vague non-specific symptoms radiographic studies have been beneficial in confirming the diagnosis. The diagnosis has been considerably aided by the introduction of ultrasonography and Computed Tomography (CT). Once the diagnosis is made operative management is indicated due to chances of incarceration. We report a 48 years old patient from the IMS and SUM hospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India who presented with colicky lower abdominal pain associated with a non-tender swelling above and lateral to the left inguinal canal. A diagnosis of Spigelian hernia was made and confirmed on exploration. The hernia was reduced and the defect repaired. His recovery was uneventful.

Band gaps and their related energy depend on the relationship between the size of the crystal and the exciton radius. The height and the energy between different energy levels varies inversely with the size of the quantum dot. The smaller the quantum dot, the higher is the energy it possesses. Quantum dots are defined as very small semiconductor crystals of size varying from nanometer scale to a few micron i.e. they are so small that they are considered dimensionless and are capable of showing many chemical properties by virtue of which they tend to be lead at one minute and gold at the second minute. Quantum dots generally house the electrons just the way the electrons would have been present in an atom, by applying a voltage. And therefore they are very judiciously named as the artificial atoms. This application of voltage may lead to the modification of the chem...

Also called as the chronic sclerosing sialadenitis it resembles a plasmocytic and lymphocytic inflammatory process and presents as a hard and painful mass which clinically mimics a malignancy and raises significant concerns. The objective of the present study was to evaluate cases of Kuttner’s tumor and discuss its clinical and pathological aspects to distinguish it from a definite malignancy and create a grown acceptance of the presence of such an entity in our setting. Methods: We collected 170 cases of submandibular swellings and evaluated in detail the clinical and pathological aspects of eight cases out of them which were later diagnosed to as Kuttner’s tumour. Results: The age of the patients varied between 23 to 61 years (mean age 42.5 years) with 3 males and 5 females. 6 patients reported with a firm to hard painless submandibular mass (5 left sided; 3 right side...

Meckel’s diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the gastrointestinal tract that is generally asymptomatic and only manifests in a specific way when complications exist. An unusual complication of Meckel’s diverticulum is known as Littre’s hernia. It comprises less than 1% of all Meckel’s diverticulum. Usual sites of Littre hernia are right inguinal (50% of cases), umbilical hernia (20%), and femoral hernia (20%). We present a case of Littré’s hernia where we found a strangulated Meckel’s diverticulum in an inguinal hernia sac.

Most of them being pulsion diverticulum are mostly the result of intestinal dyskinesia. These lesions are usually asymptomatic and may produce chronic symptoms and an acute complication in a patient. It is because of the rarity of the entity that they often produce a diagnostic as well as therapeutic dilemma resulting in unnecessary morbidity and mortality. These diverticula should not always be dismissed as incidental for they may be the underlying cause of some vague symptomatology. Complications arising from these lesions are rare but do definitely occur. Optimal treatment of these lesions requires an understanding of their anatomy and the disease process they produce. We report a case of multiple jejunal diverticulitis in a 40 year old patient presenting with acute abdomen and discuss the clinical as well as diagnostic aspects along with a management algorithm in such patients.

Tumors arising from these tissues are rare. Choroid plexus papillomas (CPPs) have been denoted as WHO grade I of the choroid plexus tumors. Among the intracranial tumors, neoplasms of the choroid plexus constitute around 0.36-0.6%. CPPs are mostly slow growing and cause symptoms due to mass effect and obstructive hydrocephalus, resulting in increased intracranial pressure. We report a case of CPP arising from the temporal horn in a 7-year-old girl presenting with progressive head enlargement since birth due to bilateral massive hydrocephalus without any obstruction, making it purely a hypersecretory hydrocephalus. A drainage procedure followed by complete tumor resection was carried out in our case and the patient showed marked relief from her symptoms.

History of trauma or surgery to the site of tumor origin is elicited in up to one in four cases and they most commonly develop in the anterior abdominal wall and shoulder girdle but they can arise in any skeletal muscle. The clinical behavior and natural history of desmoid tumors are unpredictable and management is difficult with many issues remaining controversial, mainly regarding early detection, the role, type and timing of surgery and the value of non-operative therapies. We report a case of anterior abdominal wall desmoid tumor in a 40-yearold male with a previous history of surgery.
