Plant associated microbes can help plants in acquisition of soil nutrients to enhance productivity in stressful conditions. The current study was designed to illuminate the effectiveness of desert rhizobacterial strains on growth and net-return of chickpeas grown in pots by using sandy loam soil of Thal Pakistan desert. A total of 125 rhizobacterial strains were isolated, out of which 72 strains were inoculated with chickpeas in the growth chamber for 75 days to screen most efficient isolates. Amongst all, six bacterial strains (two rhizobia and four plant growth promoting rhizobacterial strains) significantly enhanced nodulation and shoot-root length as compared to other treatments. These promising strains were morphologically and biochemically characterized and identified through 16sRNA sequencing. Then, eight consortia of the identified isolates were formulated to evaluate the growth and development of chickpea at thr...

Salinity is a barrier towards growing a sustainable food production system and environment management. PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) under salt stressed conditions causes 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase action which minimizes the intensity of ACC and endogenous ethylene justifying the toxic effects of salt stress on plant growth. The plants inoculated with PGPR having ACC deaminase are relatively more tolerant to salt stress. The study was conducted at National Agriculture Research Centre, Islamabad to examine the consequence of PGPR on wheat crop under saline environment to see that bacterial strains having ACC deaminase had significant effect on wheat growth and ionic concentration. The design was completely randominzed with three repeats. Wheat seeds were inoculated with rhizobacterial strains which were: WPR-51, WPR-61, ...

Therefore, this study was carried out at National Agriculture Research Centre Islamabad to screen rhizobacteria containing ACC deaminase for inducing salt tolerance and improving rice plant growth and enhancement in paddy production under salt-stressed conditions. (ECe=9.65 dS m-1) during June, 2015 to November, 2016. Rice variety Basmati-385 seeds were inoculated with rhizobacterial strains which were: SBCC (M9), RPR (32), RPR (33), WPS (8) PBS, SBCC (M8) and RPR (41). Salinity (9.65dS m-1) was artificially developed using salts. This study resulted that rice crop improved growth and yield under salt stressed conditions with the induction of salt tolerance through ACC deaminaze PGPR and this was accomplished with the reduction in ethylene production. Reduction in sodium uptake by the utilization of different...

Thirty six bacterial strains were isolated but only eight were selected because of their high indole acetic acid (IAA), phosphorus solubilization (PS) and ACC deaminase activity. These strains were tested in two field trials under different salinity levels (9.43 and 7.51 dS m -1 ). Sunflower seeds were inoculated with biofertilizer containing these strains. Six treatments; T1 (un-inoculated), T2 (KS 44), T3 (KS 7), T4 (KS 41), T5 (KS 42) and T6 (KS mixture) were tested in these experiments. Economic analyses of two field experiments was carried out to select the best alternative treatment bearing optimum economic benefits against control (un-inoculated). The data revealed that treatment T2 (KS 44) had the highest cost benefit ratio (1:4.36), marginal rate of return (16665) and residual value (117190) Rs ha -1 among all treatments at site1 (EC 9.43dS m -1 ) whereas at site 2 (EC 7.51dS m -1 ) treatment T2 ...

This study used water soluble PEG bases (1000, 4000 and 6000) in different combinations to formulate suppositories, which were further subjected for their physicochemical properties evaluation such as weight variation, average melting point, content uniformity and disintegration. Dissolution test was used to perform the in vitro release rate studies of the suppositories. The suppository (P3) containing PEG-6000 (50%) and PEG-4000 (50%) exhibited rapid in vitro release rate of diclofenac sodium. Moreover, homogeneous distribution of diclofenac sodium is found in all six formulations. The in vitro release patterns of diclofenac sodium from the marketed Voltral suppository (100mg) and formulated suppositories were also compared and found in standard limits.

Current study was designed to evaluate the plant growth promoting and disease suppressing traits of indigenous bacteria from the rhizosphere of potato, Solanum tuberosum. For this purpose, out of 160 isolates, 20were further investigated to determine their ability for producing hydrogen cyanide (HCN), ammonia (NH3), indole 3-acetic acid (IAA), lytic enzymes, solubilize phosphate and antagonize Fusarium oxysporum. Results revealed that 12 isolates were able to solubilize phosphate thereby creating halo zone between 1.00-2.40 mm, where PRP-6 caused maximum solubilization. Three strains, PRP-6, PRS-17 and PRS24 were able to produce IAA, but the concentration was significantly different (p<0.01) from each other. Majority of the isolates exhibited strong potential (++) for producing NH3 and HCN. Lytic enzymes production trait was observed in 83% of isolates but with varying potentials (weak, medium, st...
