The Principle of Least Effort (PLE) minimises the effort subject to the constraint that the entropy remains constant. The paper investigates the relation between these two principles. It is shown that (MEP) is equivalent with the principle "(PLE) or (PME)" where (PME) is (introduced in this paper) the Principle of Most Effort, meaning that the effort is maximised subject to the constraint that the entropy remains constant.

After having given a definition and built up a sample of 289 journals, orders for them during 1996-1999 were analysed. Then, the possible relationships between orders to INIST-CNRS and the impact of journals on the scientific community (from Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) data) were examined. Finally, a study was made of relationships between document orders to INIST-CNRS and the indexation of European pharmaceutical journals in bibliographic databases.

The study aims to investigate the relationships between consumption of e-journals distributed by ... more The study aims to investigate the relationships between consumption of e-journals distributed by Elsevier ScienceDirect platform, publication (articles) and impact (citations) in a sample of 13 French universities, from 2003 to 2009. It adopts a value perspective as it questions whether or not publication activity and impact are some kind of return led by consumption. A bibliometric approach was used to explore the relations between these three variables. The analysis developed indicators inspired by the mathematical h-Index technique. Results show that the relation between consumption, publication and citations depends on the discipline's profile, the intensity of research and the size of each institution. Moreover, although relations have been observed between the three variables, it is not possible to determine which variable comes first to explain the phenomena. The study concludes by showing strong correlations, which nevertheless do not lead to clear causal relations. The article provide practical implication for academic library managers who want to show the added value of their electronic e-journals collections can replicate the study approach. Also for policy makers who want to take into account e-journals usage as an informative tool to predict the importance of publication activity. Originality: The study is the first French contribution to e-journal value studies. Its originality consists in developing a value viewpoint that relies on a bibliometric approach.

For the two samples, the IF and the h-index rankings of the journals are very different. The correlation coefficient between the IF and the h-index is high for Psychiatry but lower for Pharmacology. The linearity test performed between the h-index and 1 1 1.      n IF showed the great sensitivity of the model compared with . The IF and h-index can be completely complementary when evaluating journals of the same scientific discipline.

Our study tried to propose a new rating system (journal h-index) applied to a sample of psychiatry journals and compared to IF. Method: In order to strictly compare their IF and h-index using the same data, we wanted to work on all the citations obtained in 2006 by the articles published in 2004-2005 in the 50 journals of our Web of Science sample of psychiatry. We studied the statistical correlation between the IF 2006 and hindex 2006. Results: The rankings of the 50 psychiatry journals were different when we took into account respectively the descending order of IF 2006 and h-index 2006 which revealed 16 steps and therefore 16 groups of journals. We noted that two journals were up 21 places (record) in h-index 2006 ranking and one journal lost 17 places. Nevertheless we obtained a high correlation coefficient well illustrated by the group of the seven first journals whose the two rankings were very close. We noted that our sample had only two journals really specialised in the publication of reviews. Conclusions: The rating of journals starting from the h-index may represent an interesting and complementary alternative to the well-known rating based on the IF. The h-index rating proposes a categorization of journals making it possible to create classes of journals with the same h-index. This type of ranking by classes is often appreciated and used by experts and scientific committees of evaluation.

ABSTRACT "Distance" Hypothesis applied to robot-pedagogy for children in kindergarten. The Blue Bot project involved 230 five-year-old pupils of kindergarten in the Nord-Pas de Calais Region (France). The goal was to introduce them to coding, decoding and programming design. A ludopedagogy session was proposed with three main modalities: Body, Robot and Tablet. The statistical results confirmed the reliability of the scientific experiment and highlighted that the two modality combining Robot and Tablet recorded the highest performance scores in a pre-and posttest type evaluation method. The objective of this communication is to expose the "Distance" hypothesis as an attempt to explain this phenomenon.

Though, because a manual qualification at the Web scale is not accessible, this track is little followed. We propose a semi-automatic method for propagating metadata. In a first step, homegeneous corpus are extracted. We used in our study the following properties: the authority type, the site type, the information type, and the page type. This first step is realized by a clusterization which uses a similarity measure based on the cocitation frequency between pages. Given the cluster hierarchy, the second step selects a reduced number of documents to be manually qualified and propagates the given metadata values to the other documents belonging to the same cluster. A qualitative evaluation and a preliminary study about the scalability of this method are presented.

Conclusion. La corrélation entre commandes et citations diminue au cours du temps. Elle est influencée par l'arrivée de la version électronique des revues.

After having given a definition and built up a corpus of 289 journals, orders about them during 1996-1998 were analysed. Then, the possible relationships between orders to INIST-CNRS and impact of journals on scientific community (from Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) data) were examined. Finally, relationships between document orders to INIST-CNRS and, on the one hand european pharmaceutical journals indexation in bibliographic databases and, on the other hand their possible indexation in the French National Collective Catalogue were studied.
