It has been defined as the marketing, distribution, prescription and use of drugs in society with special emphasis on the resulting medical and social consequences. Urinary tract infection (UTI) is caused by pathogenic invasion of the urinary tract which leads to an inflammatory response of the urothelium. Urinary tract infections are common burden in patients with diabetes mellitus. Cystitis, ascending infection leading to pyelonephritis, impaired leucocyte function, recurrent vaginitis, emphysematous complications and renal/perinephric abscesses are well recognized in this group of patients if glycemic control is poor. The present study was undertaken to identify the common pathogens and drug sensitivity pattern of the isolate among patients who attended the medicine outpatients department so as to guide empirical treatment. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate prescription pattern of antibiotics in UTI in medicine...

We have suggested a novel soft computing strategy for the training of unknown weights involved in the feed-forward artificial neural networks (ANNs). Our neuroevolutionary approach is used to suggest approximate solutions to a highly nonlinear doubly singular type of differential equations. We have considered a real application from thermodynamics, which analyses the temperature profile in porous fins. For this purpose, we have used the optimizer, namely, the fractional-order particle swarm optimization technique (FO-DPSO), to minimize errors in solutions through fitness functions. ANNs are used to design the approximate series of solutions to problems considered in this paper. We find the values of unknown weights such that the approximate solutions to these problems have a minimum residual error. For global search in the domain, we have initialized FO-DPSO with random solutions, and it collects best so far solutions in each generation/ iteration. In the second phase, we have fine-tuned our algorithm by initializing FO-DPSO with the collection of best so far solutions. It is graphically illustrated that this strategy is very efficient in terms of convergence and minimum mean squared error in its best solutions. We can use this strategy for the higher-order system of differential equations modeling different important real applications.

The problem dealt with here involves a fractional-order damping coefficient in the form of fractional derivatives that present a better mathematical model of the vibration systems. Fractional derivatives are widely used to characterize the viscoelastic features in structural designs. Unlike the integer order differentiation, fractional-order derivatives consider local as well as the global evolution of the system. Therefore, fractional differential equations can be indicated as a reasonable choice for modeling certain physical phenomena, and to present more accurate mathematical solutions to real-world applications than the ordinary differential equations. We have proposed a novel unsupervised machine learning procedure that first designs general solutions, with the help of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), for the fractional-order differential equation containing unknown decision weights. These weights are worked out with the help of Fractional-Order Darwinian Particle Swarm Optimization (FO-DPSO) algorithm by setting a fitness function for each case. Results obtained from our simulations are better in the sense that they are overlapping with the analytical solutions available in the literature.

The unknown weights involved in approximate solutions obtained through ANN are tuned with the help of FO-DPSO. To test the robustness of our approach and conditionality of CSM, we have considered several cases of CSM with different aspects of the problem. Solutions obtained by Adam's method are used as a reference point for the sake of comparison. We establish it that FO-DPSO is a suitable technique for tuning the unknown weights involved in the solution designed with ANNs. Our results suggest that the proposed approach is a suitable candidate for solving real-world problems involving differential equations. In this paper, a metaheuristic is combined with neural computing modelling to study the effects of temperature changes in a porous fin model. Cuckoo search algorithm is used as an efficient optimization technique to find the best weights to reduce the mean squared error in the required temperature profile. The governing partial differential equation is converted into a non-linear ordinary differential equation subject to certain boundary conditions. Two individual cases, of silicon nitride (Si 3 N 4) and Aluminium (Al), are considered. In the proposed procedure, the Cuckoo Search(CS) algorithm is combined with the artificial neural network (ANN), namely CS-ANN, to solve the differential equations and obtain solutions with better accuracy.

Its incidence and need for surgical treatment has increased exponentially in line with the increase in shoulder arthroscopies. It is of particular importance in the elite over head athlete and the young. A range of arthroscopic techniques and devices have been described with good functional results. The ability to return to pre injury level of sports remains a concern.

A detailed finite element (FE) model of spacer grid cell with fuel rod-to-support has been developed to determine the contact pressure between the supports of the grid and fuel rod cladding. The FE model of a fuel rod-to-support system is produced with shell and contact elements. The spring hold-down force is calculated using the contact pressure obtained from the FE model. Experiment has also been conducted in the same environment for the measurement of this force. The spring hold-down force values obtained from both studies are compared, which show good agreement, and in turn confirm the validation of this analysis. The Stress obtained through this analysis is less than the yield strength of spacer grid material (Inconel-718), thus fulfils the structural integrity criteria of grid.

This study has been made in an attempt to find the structural integrity of the fuel assembly (FA) of Chashma Nuclear Power Plant-1 (CHASNUPP-1) at room temperature in air. The non-linear contact and structural tensile analysis have been performed using ANSYS 13.0, in order to determine the fuel assembly (FA) elongation behaviour as well as the location and values of the stress intensity and stresses developed in axial direction under applied tensile load of 9800 N or 2 g being the fuel assembly handling or lifting load [Y. Zhang et al., Fuel assembly design report, SNERDI, China, 1994]. The finite element (FE) model comprises spacer grids, fuel rods, flexible contacts between the fuel rods and grid's supports system and guide thimbles with dash-pots and flow holes, in addition to the spot welds between spacer grids and guide thimbles, has been developed using Shell181, Conta174 and Targe170 elements. FA is a non-straight structure. The actual behavior of the geometry is non-linear due to its curvature or design tolerance. It has been observed that fuel assembly elongation values obtained through FE analysis and experiment [SNERDI Tech. Doc., Mechanical strength and calculation for fuel assembly, Technical Report, F3.2.1, China, 1994] under applied tensile load are comparable and show approximately linear behaviors. Therefore, it seems that the permanent elongation of fuel assembly may not occur at the specified load. Moreover, the values of stresses obtained at different locations of the fuel assembly are also comparable with the stress values of the experiment determined at the same locations through strain gauges. Since the results of both studies (analytical and experimental) are comparable, therefore, validation of the FE methodology is confirmed. The stress intensity of the FE model and maximum stresses developed along the guide thimbles in axial direction are less than the design stress limit of the materials used for the grid [ASTM, Standard specification for precipitation hardening nickel alloy (UNSN07718) plate, sheet, and strip for high temperature service, B 670-80, USA, 2013], fuel rod [ASTM, Standard specification for wrought zirconium alloy seamless tubes for nuclear reactor fuel cladding, B 811-02, USA, 2002] and the guide thimble [ASTM, Standard specification for seamless stainless steel mechanical tubing, A 511-04, USA, 2004]. Therefore, the structural integrity criterion of CHASNUPP-1 fuel assembly is fulfilled safely at the specified tensile load.
