Pengadaan barang dan jasa bidang pekerjaan umum harus melalui proses penyelenggaraan pekerjaan konstruksi, meliputi tahap perencanaan pekerjaan konstruksi, pelaksanaan beserta pengawasan pekerjaan konstruksi, dan operasi serta pemeliharaan penyelenggaraan pekerjaan konstruksi oleh Departemen Pekerjaan Umum. We study the relation between the shape anisotropy changes, Δα, and the optical birefringence, Δ ... more We study the relation between the shape anisotropy changes, Δα, and the optical birefringence, Δ n, of dry and swollen rigid bi-functionally (8.0 mol %, 8A2) and flexible tri-functionally [5 mol % (5V3) and 7 mol % (7V3)] cross-linked liquid single crystal elastomers (LSCEs) as a function of temperature. 4-n-pentyl-4-cyanobiphenyl (5CB) is used as the solvent. Plotting Δα as a function of Δ n, a linear dependence is observed for all LSCE samples. This indicates that Δα results from the liquid crystal ordering. The largest Δα (˜0.2 at T=30 °C) is observed in dry 8A2, which has a large frozen-in orientational order (FOO). The swollen samples show much smaller Δα, ˜0.03--0.05, because of a smaller modulus elasticity after the swelling process.

A kind of electrohydrodynamic instability, the prewavy instability, in nematic liquid crystals is... more A kind of electrohydrodynamic instability, the prewavy instability, in nematic liquid crystals is reported. The characteristic of the instability was optically investigated and discussed in comparison with some similar instabilities. Obviously the instability partially shows an isotropic feature around the nematic-isotropic transition temperature. Owing to the characteristic properties of the flow and the spatial periodicity, it should be distinguished from a previously proposed isotropic instability.

Swelling behavior and deformations of main chain liquid crystal elastomers (MCLCEs) have been rep... more Swelling behavior and deformations of main chain liquid crystal elastomers (MCLCEs) have been reported. The swelling agent used here is a low molecular weight liquid crystal (LMWLC), 4-n-pentyl-4-cyanobiphenyl (5CB). Monodomain MCLCE swells anisotropically with the swelling degree q mono = 11.9 and polydomain MCLCE swell isotropically in 3D with q poly = 12.1. These values are much larger than observed in swelling side-chain LCEs (SCLCEs). In the stress-strain measurement, the plateau area is found among two steep areas. The electromechanical effects of monodomain MCLCE is also observed, and the results show that the maximum contraction in ∥ is about 7%. The threshold for the onset of the electromechanical effect is about 10 V, which is larger than observed in SCLCEs.
