Rashmika Mandanna on co-stars: ‘Ranbir Kapoor is no-nonsense, my energy matches with Allu Arjun, Vicky Kaushal is amazing’ (original) (raw)
Rashmika Mandanna is on an all-time high considering the back-to-back successes of her films, Animal and Pushpa 2: The Rule. If she ended 2023 with the blockbuster success of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, she closed 2024 with the humungous success of Allu Arjun’s pan-Indian film. Now, she is set to kickstart 2025 with the much-awaited historical film, Chhaava. In an interview during her promotional rounds for the film, Rashmika opened up to Gulf News about shaping her Hindi film career, and her equations with her various co-stars.
When asked about how she charts her career in Bollywood, Rashmika said, “I love being part of great stories. I love it when audiences watch a film and think, ‘What did they just create?’ I want to be part of those kinds of stories.” Sharing how her filmography is also filled with films where she is the ‘hero of the story,’ self-obsession isn’t part of her repertoire. “I can hold the screen when I’m on it, but I don’t mind being part of someone else’s story,” said Rashmika stressing on the importance of looking at the bigger picture of supporting the film.
Praising his co-stars Vicky Kaushal, Allu Arjun and Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika said that each of them are ‘giving and genuinely nice people.’ In fact, Rashmika felt that all her present co-stars are ‘kind and no-nonsense’ actors. “With Allu Arjun sir, our energies match and make us feel comfortable. With Ranbir, we both don’t like nonsense. We focus on the characters and don’t talk about anything else. With Vicky, every day on set, I’d think, ‘This guy is amazing.’ It’s so rare to find people like them, and I’m really grateful to work with them,” said Rashmika.
Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, is set to hit the screens on February 14. Apart from Chhaava, Rashmika also has an interesting lineup of films, including Rahul Ravindran’s The Girlfriend, AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar, headlined by Salman Khan, and Sekhar Kammula-Dhanush’s Kubera.
