The study aim was to assess HPV knowledge among university students, staff, and faculty

In this study examined adolescents were divided into four groups after calculating BMI, and after the correlation between BMI and %BF. The obtained results show that there are significantly more (p < 0.01; p < 0.05) boys (ages, 15-18) with a healthy weight than girls. The correlation between BMI) and %BF was very strong, positive, among examined girls (r = 0.975) and boys (r = 0.752). In a group with normal % BF and increased BMI there were significantly more (p < 0.01) boys than girls, and the opposite situation were in a group with increased BMI and % BF, where it was significantly more (p < 0.05) girls than boys. Obtained results show that the majority of adolescents in the Serbian Republic have normal body weight, with a tendency of increase, especially among girls who are more prone to unbalanced nutrition.

However, knowledge of the disease is an important prerequisite for behavior change. In this study, we assessed urban-rural differences in HIV/AIDS knowledge of senior secondary school students in Ekiti State, Nigeria. A cross sectional study of 372 students was conducted. Descriptive statistics were used to describe variables of interest and one-way analysis of variance was used to assess differences in the HIV/AIDS knowledge mean scores. Overall, the level of HIV/AIDS knowledge was relatively high. Nevertheless, the results revealed high level of misconceptions regarding preventive measures, modes of transmission and treatment. Our results showed significant urban-rural and gender differences in students’ HIV/AIDS knowledge. Urban students had higher mean scores, indicating higher level of HIV/AIDS knowledge (M=14.1; SD=3.4 vs. M=11.4; SD=3.7; P < 0.001). Urban female students had higher knowle...

However, the relationship between physical activity, physical fitness, and academic performance remains to be clearly established. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between physical fitness and academic achievement among a sample of Illinois high school students. Analyses were based on the 2016–2017 school year Archival Fitnessgram physical fitness test scores and cumulative GPAs of ninth- through twelfth-grade students (N = 371). Pearson correlation assessed the relationship between physical fitness and academic performance. Multiple linear regression predicted students’ academic achievement. There was a positive association between total fitness and academic achievement, although not statistically significant, r (369) = .002, p = .49. The regression prediction model was statistically significant (p < .001) and accounted for approximately 25% of the variance in academic...

This cross-sectional study assessed the utility of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in understanding and predicting healthy eating intention among Midwestern truck drivers in the United States. Participants were recruited through online trucker forums and advertisements at truck stops. Each participant completed an anonymous, web-based questionnaire that measured attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. One hundred and forty-six truck drivers responded, with the average Body Mass Index (BMI) 32.7 and working as a truck driver for 10.3 years. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis assessed the predictive value of individual TPB constructs and the model. The predictive model containing the TPB constructs explained 18% of the variance in healthy eating intention, with attitude and subjective norm making significant and unique contributions. With the variance explained, the findings minimally supported the utility of TPB in understanding and predicting healthy eating intention among the truck drivers. These findings should be interpreted in view of the study limitations; the small sample size and being a self-report study. Notwithstanding, the findings highlight the importance of attitude and subjective norms in understanding and predicting healthy eating intention among Midwestern truck drivers in the United States.

A cross-sectional study of 392 students was conducted using a self-administered structured questionnaire that measured socio-demographics, perceived risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, and TPB constructs. Analysis was based on 273 students who had never been tested for HIV. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis assessed the applicability of the TPB in predicting HIV testing intention and additional predictive value of perceived risk of HIV infection. The prediction model containing TPB constructs explained 35% of the variance in HIV testing intention, with attitude and perceived behavioral control making significant and unique contributions to intention. Perceived risk of HIV infection contributed marginally (2%) but significantly to the final prediction model. Findings supported the TPB in predicting HIV testing intention. Although future studies must determine the generalizability of these results, the findings highlight the importance of perceived behavioral control, attitude, and perceived risk of HIV infection in the prediction of HIV testing intention among students who have not previously tested for HIV.
