The allograft used in this study was morselized cancellous freeze-dried allograft. We examined these 9 patients with technetium-99 m methylene diphosphonate bone scintigraphy at an average of 14 (range 12–20) months after surgery. All of them had a good clinical outcome, with an average postoperative Hip Society Score of 89 (range 65–98) and no evidence of radiolucency or subsidence on direct radiography. Scintigraphic examination demonstrated that the area corresponding to the allograft had a remarkable radioactivity accumulation suggesting new bone formation. The allograft in total hip revision using the impaction grafting technique undergoes a significant neovascularization and new bone formation. This study suggests than when vigorous impaction is used, freeze-dried cancellous allograft can be used for impaction grafting.

Case study is preferred as research method. An interview form devised by the researcher, composed of open-ended and scenario type questions was used as the data collecting tool. Interviews taking average 60 minutes were carried out with five academicians from Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) Fatih Faculty of Education in spring term of 2006-2007 academic year. By using Magolda's Epistemological Reflection Model, the data obtained were analyzed. It was found that the participants' beliefs about teacher role fairly comply with the philosophical notion of the new mathematics curriculum in Turkey. We believe that by conducting similar studies with larger samples, it might be possible to get additional perspectives on and contribute to teacher training researches.

Case study method was used in this descriptive study. The data of the study were obtained by conducting a questionnaire which consists of eight open-ended questions to total 125 10 th grade students studying in two different secondary schools in Trabzon during 2006-2007 school year. The views of the students regarding proof were coded and their levels of proof were analyzed based on the classification of Miyazaki related to proof. At the end of the study, high school students' competencies of doing proof were found below the desired level, as well as their use of different proof types. Based on these results, it's recommended to give room in the classes to activities that would improve students' mathematical thinking skills and increase their levels of proof.

For this purpose, a worksheet on decimal fractions, a conceptual change text and an anology map were developed. These instructional materials were administered to 62 students selected from two different 6 th grade classes in a primary school in Trabzon in 2008-2009 school year. Semi-experimental method was used in this study. At the end of the study, it was seen that the instructional materials developed increased students' success.

This study was carried out by using survey method. As data collection tool, Mathematics Attitude Questionnaire (MAQ) which consists of 37 items each with five response alternatives covering the attitudes of students towards mathematics was used. In this research, this questionnaire was administered to 200 elementary school students from two different primary schools in 2007-2008 education terms in the city of Trabzon, TURKEY. The data were analyzed by One-Way (Factor) ANOVA and independent-samples t-tests using the statistical package program (SPSS 10.0). As a result, it is revealed that there are statistically significant differences in terms of the attitudes towards mathematics according to their grade levels, but gender of students.

The study uses a case study method. Convenience sampling was used in order to obtain more in-depth knowledge. The data we examine came from the semi structured interviews conducted with 4 mathematics teachers working in different primary schools in Trabzon province. The results of the study are that the teachers experienced distress in finding the necessary materials required for the activities in the textbook and the activities could not be implemented effectively in the over-populated classes. The study ends with the recommendations as the materials required for the activities in the textbooks should be easily accessible and the activities should be prepared considering the number of students in mathematics classes.

Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop instructional materials for students based on one of the four-stage models of constructivist approach related to the unit of "decimals". With this aim, a worksheet, analogy map and conceptual change text on the unit of decimals were developed. Case study method was used in the study. A pilot study was conducted with 32 6 th graders studying in an elementary school in Trabzon in order to use the instructional materials in the classes more effectively and to test their feasibility. At the end of this preliminary study, the students were determined to find the materials effective, visual and interesting. Therefore, it's recommended to use the materials developed during the course in mathematics classes and to develop similar materials for other subject matters.
