Sunset to the Sea is the collaborative improvised duo of accomplished guitarists Chris Brokaw (Codeine, Come) and Jeff Barsky (Insect Factory). Their first release together, this tape documents live sets from 2014. If you think you know what to expect from these two based on their previous recordings in various units, think again. Together they weave a heavy and dense magic, with repetition and depth key characteristics. There’s a bleak dystopian feel in places that recalls the most probing and exploratory corners of industrial zones, but also a crackly warmth and humanity that only two skilled improvisers like these could add. Dark and hypnotic in the best way possible.
