Absentee ballots for Angaur State’s gubernatorial primary election on September 10, 2024, were not counted after missing the submission deadline, according to unofficial results from the Palau Election Commission.

A total of seven absentee ballots were sent off-island, but only one, cast by a walk-in voter, was received and counted. The remaining absentee ballots failed to arrive on time, rendering them ineligible for inclusion in the final results.

Natus Misech, who received 48 votes, and Steven R. Salii, with 44 votes, will move on to the Angaur general election scheduled for November 5, 2024.

Election officials have not yet confirmed the final results, but for now, the late absentee ballots will remain uncounted. The delay in receiving these ballots could have implications for the upcoming general election.
