The aim of this study is to discover the perception of employees, who are the ones that experience these applications first hand in a company. A pilot survey has been prepared and conducted for construction sector professionals. Factor analysis has been applied by SmartPLS 3.0 software after the elimination of key indicators. To define "Individual mindfulness, " mediation effect has investigated between "Environmental sustainability" and "Environmental CSR" by using PROCESS macro on SPSS. The results indicated that individual mindfulness level has a positive effect on the relationship between environmental sustainability (ES) and environmental CSR. However, other values like experience, age, etc., have been found irrelevant to this relationship. Therefore, to explain more about control variables, correlation tests have been executed.

Thus, this review considers the impact of information communication technology on the communication behaviour of individuals in Libyan organisations. In this paper recent information communication technology studies are examined in order to investigate its impact on the organisational structure and communication among staff in Libyan public organisations and to provide suggestions for future research on this issue. It also analyses the extent to which information communication technology affect the communication behaviour of individuals in terms of harmony and organisational hierarchy structure in Libyan organisations. 2 METHODOLOGY This paper draws on an ongoing doctoral study in the area of communication in Libyan public organisations. This paper, however, is primarily based on a thorough and critical review of literature. It documents and discusses key issues drawn from related literature and areas of communication behaviour, or-ganisational dynamics and power influences in public and private organisations in Libya. Academic journals, conference proceedings, text books and websites are the main sources of information. 3 CULTURE Culture is strongly connected with communication and is defined in many ways. Martin & Nakayama, (2004, p. 337) have defined culture as "learned patterns of behaviour and attitudes shared by groups of people". Moreover, the American Psychological Association (2002) defined culture as "The belief system and value orientations that influence customs, norms, practices and social institutions including psychological processes (language, care taking practice, media and educational systems) and organisations (media educational system)". Thus, culture at the societal level is manifested in values and less in practice. However, culture at the organisation level is more likely to be manifested in practice and less in values (Hofstede, 1997). Therefore, culture can be defined as the shared patterns of behaviours and interactions, cognitive constructs, and effective understanding that are learned through a process of socialisation. These shared patterns identify the members of a culture group while also distinguishing those of another group. Due to national cultural influences, Twati & Gammack (2004) consider organisational culture in Libya as a strong culture,

Hence, exploring antecedents of organizational identification in organization settings within the construction industry is vital in understanding the role of organizational identification in performance outcomes. Organizational identification, which refers to an individual's psychological attachment to the organization, has gained increasing attention because of its assumed link with behavior associated with enhanced organizational performance. Yet little work has been done on what fosters organizational identification, particularly within the context of construction industry. The main aim of this study is to determine the relationships among organizational communication, selfconstrual, perceived external prestige, organizational communication, turnover intention and organizational identification within the context of Turkish Construction Industry. A research model, which i...

These efforts need to be supported by all countries for permanent success. For this reason, universities, as multidisciplinary and multicultural platforms, are important for establishing international and multidisciplinary collaboration and move towards sustainability. This paper aims to analyze general tendencies, behaviors and consciousness about sustainability studies among universities’ students. With this aim, after providing informative classes about sustainability to a class of international and multidisciplinary students studying in different universities in various countries, students were asked to fill in the questionnaire and to participate in the brainstorming session about sustainability education and sustainable behavior. Findings revealed that the awareness about sustainability should be improved through education and that universities play an important role in the fight against climate chan...

Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire survey with a total of 95 respondents from both certified and noncertified office buildings was conducted. Two independent sample comparisons were executed to understand the influence of sustainable building certificates on occupants’ environmental values, beliefs, awareness and PEBs. Findings Ecocentric value, belief and awareness were found as the predictors of pro-environmental workplace behavior. Certified office occupants showed higher awareness about buildings’ environmentally oriented characteristics. Despite higher awareness, certified office occupants revealed less PEB compared to those who work in noncertified office buildings. Originality/value This study determined the influencing factors on PEBs in workpla...

Responsible Consumption and Production, among the Sustainable Development Goals, indicates that h... more Responsible Consumption and Production, among the Sustainable Development Goals, indicates that humans should be aware of environmental problems which are to some extent, direct or indirect consequences of their behaviors. This indicates that the question of what shapes proenvironmental behavior (PEB) is difficult to understand. There has been an increasing concern towards individuals' PEBs both at home and in the workplace. However, although some studies have shown significant concern-behavior relationship, others have revealed that environmental concern (EC) fails to predict PEB. Thus, whether individuals with higher levels of environmental concern perform more PEB has not received robust empirical support. Drawing on the corresponding literature, concern-behavior gap can be explained by the concept of cultural environmental biases. This study aims to test how cultural biases shape PEB. Following the model proposal which explores the effect of cultural biases on EC and PEB, a 42-item questionnaire has been developed and applied with the university students as they are expected to be the most informed and aware people about environmental issues. The findings are expected to deepen the understanding of concern-behavior relationship and cultural environmental biases as well as provide new insights for sustainable development practices.

Therefore, this study aims to investigate the concept of CSR from the perspective of construction industry by questioning CSR awareness, CSR activities, and CSR integration with a comparative case study between UK and Turkey. Design/methodology/approach Conducting comparative and qualitative research using a case study methodology, this study sets the context for understanding differences in these two countries as to how CSR is perceived and put into practice by selected case firms. Findings The results revealed that construction companies are aware of the increasing importance of the CSR; however, company scale and the characteristics of the country have great impact on CSR preferences. Despite the differences in the approaches all firms take with regard to CSR domains and CSR types, ethical domain ...

Joint ventures, a special type of strategic alliances, have been enjoying increasing popularity i... more Joint ventures, a special type of strategic alliances, have been enjoying increasing popularity in global competition. Employees of international joint ventures may come from different countries and thus hold diverse values. It is therefore important to address cultural differences in the context of international construction joint ventures (ICJVs). During the implementation of international construction projects, there will always be many kinds of claims arousal from all contractual parties. In this context, claims management has become more and more important and imminent in the international construction contract environment. This paper aims to focus on cultural differences in explaining how claims management situation affects international construction companies. Besides, it explores to answer additional supportive questions like; what causes the claims and what are the claim conditions applied and what are their interpretation and related resolution. A questionnaire survey was designed to achieve this objective. It included questions regarding causes of claims, factors affecting claim management, and self-construal statements of Marcus & Kitiyama (1991). On the basis of the findings, this paper corroborates the argument that the dominant cultural values and/or perceptions of the society are not very much influential on individuals' perceptions, and may differ from the same values of the society.

This was achieved by a questionnaire survey. Questionnaire data obtained from 65 participants working in a multinational joint venture project have demonstrated that a person's self concept can explain certain types of conflict management behavior. In a conflict situation, independent persons tend to use avoiding and compromising, whereas interdependent persons tend to use integrating.
