Research paper thumbnail of Research Proposal on the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Resilience of Primary Health Care Workers

EFPC-Conference-2021-Bergen, 2021

While chronic patients need the same amount of care during the pandemic, the personal resources that are available for those patients in primary health care have declined.
Primary Health Care professionals are confronted with increasing workload and are at high risk of being infected with COVID-19 themselves. Increasing challenges to primary health care workers’ mental health can be observed during the COVID-19. Primary health care workers’ resilience is challenged strongly.
Theory: Resilience is an outcome of one’s successful adaptation to various stressful situations. Resilience refers to the ability to assess the situation, take the decision and adapt behaviour positively. ‘Being resilient’ means to be able to cope with a challenge and to recover when
facing a challenge. Resilience can also be understood as the potential to regain mental stability after challenge is over and use that experience for personal growth.
Methods/Findings: This presentation will discuss a research proposal developed by a multidisciplinary team, including a nurse, family physicians, researchers and PhD students from various countries
during the “PRIMORE Masterclass: interprofessional PC Research project”. A research proposal aiming to explore resilience among health professionals in primary care in four countries (Turkey, Germany, Thailand, Qazaqstan), in the context of COVID-19 pandemic will be
presented and discussed with participants of this workshop. The research proposal comprises qualitative inquiries (Interviews with experts and focus group interviews) and an E-survey using
the CD-RISC measure.
Discussion: After a short introduction on the topic and the research proposal, participants are invited to comment and discuss the research proposal

The study was also examined the diet, physical activity, screen time, and sleep habits of adolescents. Methods: This study is a methodological and descriptive design. The sample of the research consists of 320 students. The validity of the HHQ was evaluated by the content validity index, the reliability by test-retest correlations, and the kappa coefficient of agreement. Number and percentage values were used for descriptive features. Results: The content validity index of HHQ was found to be 0.96. The test-retest correlations of questions containing continuous variables were found to be between 0.44 and 0.91. Kappa values of questions containing categorical variables were between 0.7 and 0.94. It was found that 91.8% of the adolescents consumed less than three servings of vegetables, 76.9% of them consumed less than 2 servings of fruit, and 80.5% of them consumed less than 2 glasses of milk. In addition, it was determined 40.2% of the adolescents used screen use more than two hours, 47.6% did less than one hour of physical activity and 30.2% slept less than eight hours. Conclusion: HHQ was found as a valid and reliable measurement tool. It was determined that the adolescents did not consume enough vegetables, fruits, water, and milk and did not engage in sufficient physical activity.

problems today. Identifying factors that affect obesity in adolescents and developing programs to prevent obesity are very
important. This research aims to test Turkish psychometric properties of the scales to predict adolescent obesity (Healthy
Lifestyle Choices Scale, Perceived Healthy Lifestyle Difficulty
Scale, Activity Knowledge Scale, Nutrition Knowledge Scale,
Healthy Lifestyle Attitude Scale, Healthy Lifestyle Belief Scale).
The psychometric properties of the Scales were tested test-retest reliability, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, the item-total
correlation, and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The relationship between the Scales was measured using the Spearman’s
correlation analysis. The level of internal consistency of the
scales to predict adolescent obesity was found good. The goodness of fit values of the Belief Scale were measured as significantly high (χ2 = 177.24, df = 0.99, χ2/df = 1.79 (p < .001),
Comparative Fit Index = 0.91, Goodness of Fit Index = 0.91,
Normed Fit Index = 0.92, Incremental Fit Index = 0.92, Root
Mean Square Residual = 0.05, Root Mean Square Error of
Approximation Residual = 0.05). The psychometric analyses of
the Scales were found to be very similar to the results of the
original scales. There was a positive correlation between the
Choice, Attitude, Belief, Nutrition and Activity Knowledge
Scale, and a negative correlation with the Perceived Difficulty
scale. The scales which measure adolescent obesity were
accepted as valid and reliable measuring tools. This study will
be an important resource for researchers working on the adolescent health and obesity.

Research paper thumbnail of The impact of COVID-19 anxiety on eating disorders in medical and Master’s students

Our goal was to investigate the relationship between COVID-19 anxiety and eating disorders among front-line physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This study is observational, prospective and analytical. The study population age range is from 18 to 65 years and includes healthcare professionals with a Master's degree or higher or subjects who have completed their education. We administered the Demographic Data Form, the Eating Disorder Rating Scale (EDRS), and the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) to "Health professionals with a Master's degree or higher education, or who are receiving or have received Medical Specialization Training" across Turkey. RESULTS: The study initially included 312 people in total, but 19 were excluded (9 due to a pre-existing eating disorder, 2 for pregnancy, 2 for colitis, 4 for Diabetes Mellitus, 1 for depression, 1 with generalized anxiety disorder-GAD), leaving 293 subjects (82 men and 211 women). Assistant doctor was the highest status in the study group (56%), while specialization Training was the highest level of training (60.1%). CONCLUSIONS: We presented a detailed account of effects of scales and parameters related to the COVID-19 process on eating disorders and weight change in a specific population. These effects show both anxiety scores related to COVID-19 and eating disorders on various aspects and identify various variables influencing these scales in the main groups and subgroups.
