Conflict is a leading driver of hunger, disrupting food production, supply chains, and local economies. As global challenges grow, these are ways WFP uses food assistance to address the root causes of conflict and foster peace. WFP identifies three pathways for fostering peaceful co-existence in communities, learn more 👇 #UNGA79 - Without global action to address climate change, we will see unprecedented levels of hunger. Vulnerable communities, who often rely on agriculture, fishing, and livestock - and who contribute the least to the crisis - will continue to bear the brunt of the impacts. #COP29

Four years ago, these families were reliant on WFP food assistance. For the last three, they have been taking care of themselves. WFP's Country Director in #Afghanistan Hsiao-Wei Lee shows how irrigation canals are helping families in the country regain independence, feed their families, and turn 'dying lands' into thriving ones. 🍏💚 #COP29 -

WFP is proud to have convened United Nations staff, field-based Interagency PSEA Coordinators, and local NGO partners from around the globe for the Global Training Workshop on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse(PSEA) in Partnerships. For the first time ever, stakeholders came together to discuss practical strategies to reduce the risk of sexual exploitation and abuse in our collaborations. 🔑 Key Highlights: ⚪ Our commitment to creating a culture of accountability and safety for those we serve is stronger than ever. ⚪ We acknowledge the invaluable work done by the Interagency Standing Committee(IASC) and Partner Protocol Working Group(IPPWG) in advancing PSEA efforts and will continue to bolster our collaboration with partners. ⚪ UN partners play a critical role in delivering aid effectively in challenging environments, leveraging their local insights and long-term presence to mitigate risks associated with Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. Together, we can create a safer environment for affected communities and strengthen our collective action against sexual exploitation and abuse. Let’s lead with integrity and ensure that our humanitarian response reflects our commitment to protection and respect. In the face of shifting environmental challenges, 2,000 smallholder farmers in Tigray, #Ethiopia, are working towards a more resilient future. Through the “Enhancing Resilience and Livelihood Capacity” project, WFP and our partner, REST, are helping farmers adapt with sustainable farming solutions, such as drought-resistant crops, irrigation rehabilitation, and mechanized tillage. These efforts are creating more secure food systems and protecting livelihoods from future environmental shocks. 🌾🌍 #COP29Hear from WFP's Ezgimelese Tecleab 👇 -

Communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis need support. Without urgent climate action, hunger and displacement will soar. At #COP29, we must commit to more climate finance to protect the most vulnerable communities as the climate crisis intensifies. Climate action isn’t just about reducing emissions—it’s about protecting livelihoods. WFP’s anticipatory action programs reached over 4 million people in 2023, preventing the worst impacts before disaster struck. -

Only 54% of humanitarian appeals linked to extreme weather were funded in the last 5 years. We need to invest in long-term solutions now, not just respond to crises. #COP29 #ClimateAction🔗 https://lnkd.in/dTQguZT2
