Utilising the Marine Ecological Carrying Capacity (MECC) Index, one can determine how well marine ecosystems can support human activity while preserving their ecological integrity. By a case study in the East Nusa Tenggara coastal area, this study aims to evaluate the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing the MECC in the Blue Economy scheme. The case study has been analysed using a comprehensive evaluation index system for coordinated development among marine resources, the environment, and social-ecological systems. The study also reviews relevant literature on the Blue Economy and the New Ocean Economy. The study has offered a quantitative evaluation of the Blue Economy Index's economic effects, with an emphasis on Indonesia. The study found that effective implementation of the Index in the Blue Economy could increase the ocean economy's contribution to East Nusa Tenggara's GDP by at least 2-3%. 1 Introduction The concept of the "Blue Economy" has become more popular recently, especially in the 21st century. It is a macroeconomic idea that incorporates all facets of national and international governance, economic growth, environmental protection, sustainability, and intercultural communication [1]. The Blue Economy encompasses three economic sectors, including the development of the marine economy, the innovative development economy, and the economy coping with the global water crisis [1]. The Blue Economy emphasizes comprehensive planning and coordinated development between marine ecosystems and

The study utilizes a case study approach, analyzing the impact of environmental disasters on food systems in selected regions of Indonesia and proposing a mathematical function using an inverse function to map the food systems vulnerability index to the disaster capacity index. The study also considers social, economic, and cultural dimensions in the analysis to ensure the strategies are contextually appropriate. The analysis focuses on identifying successful strategies for environmental disaster reduction and quantitatively assessing their impact on food systems. The research highlights the importance of investing in adaptive and coping capacity to enhance food security and mitigate the impact of environmental disasters, with the potential to increase production by 3-5% in local areas in Indonesia. The study's findings have important implications for policy and practice, emphasizing the importance of integrating environmental disaster reduction strategies into national and regional development plans to ensure the resilience and sustainability of the food systems in Indonesia.

With climate change predicted to increase the adverse impact of extreme weather, it is crucial to keep track of and gauge the severity of storm events. Storm Severity Index (SSI) can be used to measure the severity of storms, which is defined by their intensity, duration, and extent. SSI has been used in continental areas. However, the application of SSI in the maritime continent is still limited. This study explores the application of SSI to measure extreme storms in Indonesia based on wind gust speed. This study uses wind gust data in 1959-2021 from ERA5 reanalysis data and calculates the SSI based on the 98th percentile and the 50-year return value of the wind data. This study also explores the meteorological events that coincide with high SSI values. This study found the SSI able to capture high wind gust events in Java Island. This study finds high SSI value coinci...

At the same time, climate has a very significant impact on agricultural patterns in Indonesia. With the decision support systems in crop calendars based on climate prediction, farmers can have good harvests because climate pattern is taken into account ascultivation strategy. But on the other hand, by knowing the best time to grow crops, farmers’ demand for seeds, pesticides, water, and fertilizer supplies will become very high at certain time and cannot be fully met if the market does not have time to prepare all the farmers’ needs. This study aims to develop a conceptual framework to meet market needs by identifying the demand of farmers at a certain time, so that supplies for planting activities in certain areas can be prepared usingSmart Information System of Agribusiness/SistemInformasiCerdasAgribisnis (SICA) onmobile platform. As one of the prevention efforts, the Government of Indonesia seeks to prevent the ignition of forest and peatland fires both anthropogenic and naturally as a result of prolonged drought. These efforts could be carried out well through the implementation of remote sensing observations and through predictive technology on the position of the hotspot. However, it should be noted that historical data that have been used in those predictive technology on these hotspots are not yet verified and validated with fire occurrences and burned area footprints. Therefore, in this study, verification of historical fires hotspot will be conducted with the occurrence of wildfires based on land use satellite imagery to validate the events. This verification test will use overlay and spatial statistical methods. based on the results of the verification test, a number of hotspots...

Some major factors affecting this hazard are high topography and weak soil structure. Every incident of flash flood has caused losses in the form of damage to infrastructure, victims, and the other losses. Therefore, flash flood hazard areas should be mapped so that community and local government can anticipate the event during heavy rainfall. This study developed a flash flood hazard index using a decision-making model, with approach of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). With this method, four parameters were calculated, namely the distance to the stream channels, slope, cover and soil types. The weight and rank values were assigned to the layers and classes of each layer respectively. A hazard map was obtained using an algorithm that combines factors in weighted linear combinations. The index of flash flood hazard zone with rainfall factor was analysed with sensitivity analysis shows better result since 13 of 16 flash flood points (81.25%) are in high vulnerability to flooding.
