The Meluhu Formation consists of quartz sandstone, red shale, siltstone, and mudstone at the bott... more The Meluhu Formation consists of quartz sandstone, red shale, siltstone, and mudstone at the bottom part, and alternating black shale, sandstone, and thin limestone in the upper part. Petrographic components composition can reveal the litho-tectonic setting of a region. The composition of sandstone can be done by determining and counting the proportion of a quartz minerals, feldspar, and rock fragment from thin sections using petrographic analysis. This result can guide to depositional setting and paleoclimates of a region. The Provenance and paleoclimates studies of Meluhu Sandstone are still relatively new. The purpose of this study was to find out the provenance and paleoclimate of sandstone of Meluhu Formation which is exposed in 14 sites along Kendari and adjacent area. The method used to make petrographic observations followed by data processing using the point counting method. The sandstone in this study area was classified into sublitharenite, lithic arenite, arkose, subarkose, and greywacke. The origin of rock was interpreted as located in the recycled orogenic province, interior craton, and undissected arc. The paleoclimate that occurred in the formation of these siliciclastic rocks was arid to humid.

Research on the Weda Formation in the northern part of Halmahera Island is relatively minimal because most of the research about this formation has been carried out in the southern part of Halmahera Island. The lack of road access and its remote location have resulted in the lack of intensive research on this formation. This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity and diversity of trace fossils in the submarine fan facies association of the Weda Formation. Sedimentological studies include sedimentary texture, sedimentary structure, turbidite material type, and layer thickness. As the continuity of NW Australia margin, outer Banda Arc become the distribution area of the equivalent of Plover Sandstone units. Therefore, a clear distinction and characterization of equivalent of Plover Sandstones distributed in this area is needed. Thick unit of quartz rich sandstone is scrap out in south Savu Island. Refers to the location where the lithology is found widely distributed, the unit is suggested to be called as Pedaro Formation. The characteristic of the lithology is determined through detailed measured section from two trajectories and laboratory analysis, including fourteen samples of petrography analysis, eight samples of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis, and three samples of X-Ray Difraction (XRD) analysis. Fomasi Kuantan merupakan batuan tertua pada terrane Sumatra Barat yang tersingkap di Ngalau Basur... more Fomasi Kuantan merupakan batuan tertua pada terrane Sumatra Barat yang tersingkap di Ngalau Basurek, Sijunjung, Sumatra Barat. Penelitian tentang batugamping Formasi Kuantan masih relatif sedikit sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik mikrofasies dan diagenesis batugamping Formasi Kuantan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan membuat lintasan geologi disepanjang Goa Ngalau Basurek. Deskripsi petrografi digunakan untuk menentukan mikrofasies, zona fasies, dan diagenesis batugamping. Formasi Kuantan di Ngalau Basurek menunjukkan memiliki empat mikrofasies yaitu mudstone, coated bioclastic grainstone, peloid grainstone, dan batugamping kristalin yang dikelompokkan ke dalam standar mikro fasies 11. Salah satu formasi batuan sedimen di Lampung adalah Formasi Sabu yangtersusun atas konglomerat aneka bahan, batupasir, dan batulempung berumur Paleosen hingga Oligosen yang belum diteliti karakteristik batuan asalnya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui variasi jenis provinsi tektonik sedimen Formasi Sabu menggunakan metode modal komposisidengan metode perhitungan poin counting terhadap dua belas sampel sayatan tipis yang diambil dari hasil pengukuran penampang stratigrafi setebal 47 m. This study aims to reconstructed formation of the Lampung granitoid in a tectonostratigraphic framework. The research was carried out by mapping the field in four places, Tanjung Bintang, Branti, Padean, and Tarahan to reconstructed genesis of granitoid formation using a tectonic approach based on the order of rock age. This study shows that the Lampung granitoids can be divided into three different tectonostratigraphy, are subduction related granitoids, collision-delamination granitoids, and post-orogrnic granitoids. Penelitian geokimia batuan dilakukan menggunakan metode analisis XRF dan ICP-MS menunjukkan basalt memiliki karakteristik basalt subalkalin, bersifat tholeitik yang terbentuk pada busur gunungapi tholeitik akibat penunjaman Lempeng Samudera Hindia di bawah Busur Banda yang berumur Miosen-Pliosen. Basalt subalkali di Sungai Metan menunjukkan pengayaan unsur logam dan unsur large ion lithophile (LILE) yang dipengaruhi fluida, ditunjukkan oleh adanya hubungan positif antar unsur logam jejak mudah bergerak. Pengayaan yang dipengaruhi oleh fluida ditafsirkan sebagai produk akibat meleburnya lempeng samudera yang menunjam di bawah busur gunung api.

Kumpulan nannofosil gampingan Formasi Ofu berumur Neogen terdiri tujuh famili dan 25 spesies. Nannofosil gampingan berumur Neogen didominasi genus Discoaster, Dictyococcites, dan Reticulofenestra sedangkan umur Kuarter didominasi oleh genus Gephyrocapsa. Nannofosil gampingan Neogen terdiri dari dua zonasi, dan satu zona Kuarter. Permulaan Miosen, Burdigalian-Tortonian (zona NN 4-NN 10) ditandai pemunculan awal Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilica hingga pemunculan awal Discoaster quinqueramus. Zona NN11 yang berumur Tortonian-Messinian ditandai pemunculan awal hingga pemunculan akhir Discoaster quinqueramus. Kuarter (Zona NN20) ditandai pemunculan awal Ponthospaera indooceanica.

This research aims to provide information and the enrichment process of rare earth elements in Manamas Formation on the Timor Island and their tectonic implication. Manamas volcanic rock exposed in Bihati River, Baun, Timor consists of two different types of basalts, namely alkaline basalt and sub alkaline basalt. Analysis using ICP-MS method shows enrichment in large ion lithophile element and high field strength element. Subalkaline basalt has N-MORB patterns and alkaline basalt have OIB patterns. The Nb element is relatively impoverished that indicates influence of subduction activities. Thorium and uranium elements also show significant enrichment, due to sedimentary rocks contamination or continental crust or directly from the asthenosphere due to magma upwelling. Belum adanya penelitian tentang diversitas dan zonasi umur nanofosil gampingan menjadikan riset ini penting dilakukan. Riset ini berhasil mengidentifikasi tujuh famili dan 19 spesies nanofosil gampingan. Nanofosil gampingan didominasi genus Discoaster, Dictyococcites, dan Reticulofenestra yang dapat dibagi menjadi tiga zonasi, dan satu zona transisi Pliosen-Pleistosen. The presence of calcareous nannofossils in samples of the Post-Gondwana sequences (Kolbano and Vi... more The presence of calcareous nannofossils in samples of the Post-Gondwana sequences (Kolbano and Viqueque sequence) gives guidance about the relative age of the study area located in the Outer Banda Arc, namely Timor, Rote, and Sawu Island. The study was carried out on six traverses, Timor Island traverse (Baun and Camplong), Rote Island traverse (Termanu and Central Rote), and Sawu Island traverses (West Sawu and East Sawu). There is 29 outcrop sample prepared using the smear slide method and observed using a polarizing microscope with 1000x magnification. The results of the study showed the presence of Cretaceous, Paleogene, and Neogen-Quarternary calcareous nannofossil. There are 82 species from 14 families identified in the post-Gondwana sequence. The results showed that the assemblage of calcareous nannofossil in Cretaceous characterized by the presence of Watznaueria fasciata, Watznaueria cynthae, Cyclagelosphaera brezae, Orastrum campanensis, and Micula concava. Keramikan, without exception, located in the borders of Kecamatan Suoh and Bandar Negeri Suoh has captured many local tourists by its exceptional geological and scientific importance: geothermal site. However, both tourists and the management have to struggle to enjoy this attractive geosite because of the lack of accessibility and amenity. Therefore, attempt measures were done to exaggerate the beauty of Keramikan geothermal site as a tourism site or geosite, including a) story-based socialization for locals that they can explain many 'whys' inside the site to the coming tourists, b) explaining through video the existing condition of accessibility and amenity as well as how the management can improve, c) poster making and distribution to start the health and safety awareness of the public, independent tourism organization, and Keramikan workers, and the government. Although attractions are undeniably appealing for stakeholders and tourists, the fact that accessibility and amenity cannot be improved due to regulation and license restrictions will be the downfall for the management. Therefore, this socialization is aimed to educate as well as to address the fundamental problems to the authority.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui genesa dan proses yang terjadi pada batuan beku Formasi Manamas dalam kerangka tektonik yang terjadi di Pulau Timor berdasarkan analisis petrografi dan geokimia. Analisis geokimia dilakukan dengan menggunakan X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) dan Inductively Coupled Plasma-mass Spectrometery (ICP-MS) untuk mengetahui senyawa utama, unsur jejak, dan unsur tanah jarang. Batuan beku Formasi Manamas berupa intrusi basal dengan afinitas alkali yang menunjukkan pola pengayaan unsur tanah jarang yang identik dengan Ocean Island Basalt (OIB). The Matano Formation on Sulawesi Island has Cretaceous oceanic red bed (CORB) facies, but there i... more The Matano Formation on Sulawesi Island has Cretaceous oceanic red bed (CORB) facies, but there is no further research on the geochemical characteristics of the sedimentary rocks. This study aims to classify the CORB of the Matano Formation and reveal the polymetallic element enrichment in CORB by using the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis method. Matano Formation in the research area consists of two different facies: radiolarites facies and red clay facies. Radiolarites facies grouped as Si-ORB, dominated by siliceous pelagic bioclastic and deposited under oxic environment. The red clay facies grouped as Al-ORB, the components dominated by hemipelagic material with a small amount of silica shelled pelagically and deposited under reduction environment. This study aims to reconstructed formation of the Lampung granitoid in a tectonostratigraphic framework. The research was carried out by mapping the field in four places, Tanjung Bintang, Branti, Padean, and Tarahan to reconstructed genesis of granitoid formation using a tectonic approach based on the order of rock age. This study shows that the Lampung granitoids can be divided into three different tectonostratigraphy, are subduction related granitoids, collision-delamination granitoids, and post-orogrnic granitoids. Penelitian geokimia batuan dilakukan menggunakan metode analisis XRF dan ICP-MS menunjukkan basalt memiliki karakteristik basalt subalkalin, bersifat tholeitik yang terbentuk pada busur gunungapi tholeitik akibat penunjaman Lempeng Samudera Hindia di bawah Busur Banda yang berumur Miosen-Pliosen. Basalt subalkali di Sungai Metan menunjukkan pengayaan unsur logam dan unsur large ion lithophile (LILE) yang dipengaruhi fluida, ditunjukkan oleh adanya hubungan positif antar unsur logam jejak mudah bergerak. Pengayaan yang dipengaruhi oleh fluida ditafsirkan sebagai produk akibat meleburnya lempeng samudera yang menunjam di bawah busur gunung api.

Kumpulan nannofosil gampingan Formasi Ofu berumur Neogen terdiri tujuh famili dan 25 spesies. Nannofosil gampingan berumur Neogen didominasi genus Discoaster, Dictyococcites, dan Reticulofenestra sedangkan umur Kuarter didominasi oleh genus Gephyrocapsa. Nannofosil gampingan Neogen terdiri dari dua zonasi, dan satu zona Kuarter. Permulaan Miosen, Burdigalian-Tortonian (zona NN 4-NN 10) ditandai pemunculan awal Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilica hingga pemunculan awal Discoaster quinqueramus. Zona NN11 yang berumur Tortonian-Messinian ditandai pemunculan awal hingga pemunculan akhir Discoaster quinqueramus. Kuarter (Zona NN20) ditandai pemunculan awal Ponthospaera indooceanica.

This research aims to provide information and the enrichment process of rare earth elements in Manamas Formation on the Timor Island and their tectonic implication. Manamas volcanic rock exposed in Bihati River, Baun, Timor consists of two different types of basalts, namely alkaline basalt and sub alkaline basalt. Analysis using ICP-MS method shows enrichment in large ion lithophile element and high field strength element. Subalkaline basalt has N-MORB patterns and alkaline basalt have OIB patterns. The Nb element is relatively impoverished that indicates influence of subduction activities. Thorium and uranium elements also show significant enrichment, due to sedimentary rocks contamination or continental crust or directly from the asthenosphere due to magma upwelling. Belum adanya penelitian tentang diversitas dan zonasi umur nanofosil gampingan menjadikan riset ini penting dilakukan. Riset ini berhasil mengidentifikasi tujuh famili dan 19 spesies nanofosil gampingan. Nanofosil gampingan didominasi genus Discoaster, Dictyococcites, dan Reticulofenestra yang dapat dibagi menjadi tiga zonasi, dan satu zona transisi Pliosen-Pleistosen. The presence of calcareous nannofossils in samples of the Post-Gondwana sequences (Kolbano and Vi... more The presence of calcareous nannofossils in samples of the Post-Gondwana sequences (Kolbano and Viqueque sequence) gives guidance about the relative age of the study area located in the Outer Banda Arc, namely Timor, Rote, and Sawu Island. The study was carried out on six traverses, Timor Island traverse (Baun and Camplong), Rote Island traverse (Termanu and Central Rote), and Sawu Island traverses (West Sawu and East Sawu). There is 29 outcrop sample prepared using the smear slide method and observed using a polarizing microscope with 1000x magnification. The results of the study showed the presence of Cretaceous, Paleogene, and Neogen-Quarternary calcareous nannofossil. There are 82 species from 14 families identified in the post-Gondwana sequence. The results showed that the assemblage of calcareous nannofossil in Cretaceous characterized by the presence of Watznaueria fasciata, Watznaueria cynthae, Cyclagelosphaera brezae, Orastrum campanensis, and Micula concava. Keramikan, without exception, located in the borders of Kecamatan Suoh and Bandar Negeri Suoh has captured many local tourists by its exceptional geological and scientific importance: geothermal site. However, both tourists and the management have to struggle to enjoy this attractive geosite because of the lack of accessibility and amenity. Therefore, attempt measures were done to exaggerate the beauty of Keramikan geothermal site as a tourism site or geosite, including a) story-based socialization for locals that they can explain many 'whys' inside the site to the coming tourists, b) explaining through video the existing condition of accessibility and amenity as well as how the management can improve, c) poster making and distribution to start the health and safety awareness of the public, independent tourism organization, and Keramikan workers, and the government. Although attractions are undeniably appealing for stakeholders and tourists, the fact that accessibility and amenity cannot be improved due to regulation and license restrictions will be the downfall for the management. Therefore, this socialization is aimed to educate as well as to address the fundamental problems to the authority.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui genesa dan proses yang terjadi pada batuan beku Formasi Manamas dalam kerangka tektonik yang terjadi di Pulau Timor berdasarkan analisis petrografi dan geokimia. Analisis geokimia dilakukan dengan menggunakan X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) dan Inductively Coupled Plasma-mass Spectrometery (ICP-MS) untuk mengetahui senyawa utama, unsur jejak, dan unsur tanah jarang. This study aims to classify the CORB of the Matano Formation and reveal the polymetallic element enrichment in CORB by using the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis method. Matano Formation in the research area consists of two different facies: radiolarites facies and red clay facies. Radiolarites facies grouped as Si-ORB, dominated by siliceous pelagic bioclastic and deposited under oxic environment. The red clay facies grouped as Al-ORB, the components dominated by hemipelagic material with a small amount of silica shelled pelagically and deposited under reduction environment. Red clay facies have higher enrichment elements Mn, V, Ni, Zn and La than radiolarites facies.
