It is important to quantify the required resources to comply with the computational workloads at the rack-level. In this paper, a novel reliability index called loss of workload probability is presented to quantify the rack-level computational resource adequacy. The index defines the right-sizing of the rack-level computational resources that comply with the computational workloads, and the desired reliability level of the data center investor. The outage probability of the power supply units and the workload duration curve of servers are analyzed to define the loss of workload probability. The workload duration curve of the rack, hence, the power consumption of the servers is modeled as a function of server workloads. The server workloads are taken from a publicly available data set published by Google. The power consumption models of the major components of the internal power supply system are also presented which shows the power loss of the power distribution unit is the highest compared to the other components in the internal power supply system. The proposed reliability index and the power loss analysis could be used for rack-level computational resources expansion planning and ensures energy-efficient operation of the data center. INDEX TERMS Adequacy, data center, energy losses, internal power supply system, reliability.

As the capacity of networks is increasing to handle and process huge volume of information traffic, the management of such information systems is becoming a trivial issue. The Internet being the largest source of information provision is heterogeneous in nature with constantly evolving environment. New information services are added whereas some are modified or removed. User’s demands and interests also change constantly. In such a dynamic environment it is very difficult to maintain a coherent picture of the information services. A novel technique proposed recently employs autonomous mobile agents in faded information field architecture to facilitate information provision and servicing in this new era of information age. The architecture is decentralized in nature whereby both the service provider and information seeker communicate through mobile agents. One of these proteins is cathepsin B (CATB), a lysosomal cysteine protease that induces neuronal apoptosis, and increases in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid from HIV-1 infected patients (Cantres-Rosario et al. AIDS 27(3):347-356, 2013). Cocaine further potentiates CATB neurotoxicity in vitro and in vivo (Zenón et al. J NeuroImmune Pharmacol 9(5):703-715, 2014). Modulation of sigma-1 (Sig1R) by cocaine increases oxidative species, cytokines and other factors that promote lysosomal disruption. However, the role of Sig1R in CATB secretion and HIV-1 replication in macrophages exposed to cocaine is unknown. We hypothesized that pharmacological modulation of Sig1R would alter CATB secretion from HIV-1 infected macrophages in vitro and in vivo. To test our hypothesis, monocyte derived...

Notably, DPC neurons coded stimulus patterns as broader categories and signaled them during working memory, comparison, and postponed decision periods. Here, we show that such population activity can be condensed into two major coding components: one that persistently represented in working memory both the first stimulus identity and the postponed informed choice and another that transiently coded the initial sensory information and the result of the comparison between the two stimuli. Additionally, we identified relevant signals that coded the timing of task events. These temporal and task-parameter readouts were shown to be strongly linked to the monkeys' behavior when contrasted to those obtained in a non-demanding cognitive control task and during error trials. These signals, hidden in the hetero...

Economic reasons difficult the installation of harmonic measurement devices in all the buses of the system. Instead, it would be possible to install harmonic measurement equipment in selected buses, in a fraction of the buses of the network. With them, estimation of harmonic current injection can be made. In this paper, a method to estimate the best buses to install harmonic voltage measurement equipment is presented. Based on the configuration of the network supplied by the TSO (by means of its impedance matrix), the method allows to determine which are the best buses. The method is being implemented for the Spanish TSO REE, to allow the watching of the harmonic and unbalanced presence in the Spanish transmission network, with the actual equipment and to determine the future equipment installation buses. It is developed by the UPM Electrical and Mathematics Departments under an investigation project (GENINF) with REE funding.

We recorded single-neuron activity in primary somatosensory (S1) and dorsal premotor (DPC) cortex while trained monkeys performed a challenging pattern discrimination task. We found a faithful representation of the stimuli in S1 and a heavily transformed, more abstract, and highly varied set of responses in DPC. Most notably, in addition to memory-related activity and responses encoding the monkeys’ choices, the DPC data included a large set of categorical neurons that code specific combinations of past and present stimuli and, at the same time, are strongly predictive of the monkeys’ behavior.

The observed phase of P_2_ shows that at least for this period, the previous ephemeris is no longer valid. Various hypotheses are proposed to account for the observed amplitudes variations.

These data can be usually accessed in HTML form only, which makes it difficult for software programs to obtain them in structured form. Nevertheless, web sources usually encode data records using a consistent template or layout, and the implicit regularities in the template can be used to automatically infer the structure and extract the data. In this paper, we propose a set of novel techniques to address this problem. While several previous works have addressed the same problem, most of them require multiple input pages while our method requires only one. In addition, previous methods make some assumptions about how data records are encoded into web pages, which do not always hold in real websites. Finally, we have tested our techniques with a high number of real web sources and we have found them to be very effective.

To that end, we accomplish several tasks. First, we perform a thorough analysis of the different client-side technologies and the main features of the Web 2.0 pages in order to determine the initial levels of the aforementioned scale. Second, we submit a Web site whose purpose is to check what crawlers are capable of dealing with those technologies and features. Third, we propose several methods to evaluate the performance of the crawlers in the Web site and to classify them according to the levels of the scale. Fourth, we show the results of applying those methods to some OpenSource and commercial crawlers, as well as to the robots of the main Web search engines.

Many studies exist about characterising and detecting several types of Spam (mainly Web Spam, Email Spam, Forum/Blob Spam and Social Networking Spam). Nevertheless, to the best of our knowledge, there are no studies about the detection of Spam in Linkedin. In this article, we propose a method for detecting Spammers and Spam nets in the Linkedin social network. As there are no public or private Linkedin datasets in the state of the art, we have manually built a dataset of real Linkedin users, classifying them as Spammers or legitimate users. The proposed method for detecting Linkedin Spammers consists of a set of new heuristics and their combinations using a kNN classifier.

A total of 35 stars were checked for variability. As a result of this search the star designated in the SIMBAD database as Melotte 111 AV 1224 was found to be a new eclipsing binary star. Follow-up Strömgren photometric and spectroscopic observations allowed us to derive the spectral type, distance, reddening and effective temperature of the star. A preliminary analysis of the binary light curve was performed and the parameters of the orbital system were derived. From the derived physical parameters we conclude that Melotte 111 AV 1224 is most likely a W-UMa eclipsing binary that is not a member of the Coma Berenices open cluster. On other hand, we did not find evidence of brightness variations in the stars NSV 5612 and NSV 5615 previously catalogued as variable stars in Coma Berenices open cluster.

Web Automation and Extraction systems are able to navigate through web links and to fill web forms automatically in order to get information not directly accessible by a URL. In these systems, the main optimization parameter is the time required to navigate through the intermediate pages which lead to the desired final pages. This paper proposes a series of techniques and algorithms that improves this parameter by basically storing historical information from previous queries, and using it to make the browser manager preload an adequate subset of the whole navigational sequence on a specific browser, before the following query is executed. These techniques also handle which sequences are the most common, thus being the ones which are preloaded more often.

But, decoding the mechanisms behind this cognitive operation across brain circuits has long posed a difficult problem. We recorded the neuronal activity of diverse cortical areas, while monkeys performed a vibrotactile discrimination task. We find that the encoding of the stimuli during the stimulus periods, working memory, and comparison periods is widely distributed across cortical areas. Notably, during the comparison and postponed decision report periods the activity of frontal brain circuits encode both the result of the sensory evaluation that corresponds to the monkey's possible choices and past information on which the decision is based. These results suggest that frontal lobe circuits are more engaged in the readout of sensory information from working memory, when it is required to be compared with other sensory inputs, than simply engaged in motor responses during this task.
