Computational models of the artificial intelligence such as rough set theory have several applica... more Computational models of the artificial intelligence such as rough set theory have several applications. Data clustering under rough set theory can be considered as a technique for medical decision making. One possible application is the clustering of student suffering study's anxiety. In this paper, we present the applicability of variable precision rough set model for clustering student suffering studies anxiety. The proposed technique is based on the mean of accuracy of approximation using variable precision of attributes. The datasets are taken from a survey aimed to identify of studies anxiety sources among students at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). At this stage of the research, we show how variable precision rough set model can be used to groups student in each study's anxiety. The results may potentially contribute to give a recommendation how to design intervention, to conduct a treatment in order to reduce anxiety and further to improve student's academic performance.

School facilities have the important role to ensure the quality of teaching and learning with res... more School facilities have the important role to ensure the quality of teaching and learning with respect to achieve quality of education. The performance of school facilities significantly affected on student achievement. Therefore, the study on measuring school facility performance is basically important to be taken in order to provide appropriate teaching and learning environment. This paper aims to discuss about framework on measuring the performance of school facilities in public primary school in Batubara district in Indonesia. The concept of facility conditions that identified by Schneider is applied as a basis to measure school facilities performance. The proposed framework is structured through distributed questionnaire spread over Batubara district in order to find the level of school facilities performance from stakeholder perspective, in this case for those who work in school that using facilities. The level of school performance will be ranged from poor to excellent. The results are expected to be used as a guide for school to improve school facilities in public primary school in Indonesia concurrently leading to the improvement of the quality of education in Indonesia in the future.

Various tests have been conducted using the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and it has provi... more Various tests have been conducted using the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and it has provided adequate evidence to measure anxiety in research and clinical settings. This paper proposes a re-test to evaluate STAI among engineering students in Malaysia. A total 253 engineering students participated in this study. The re-test was presented for reliability, construct validity, and coefficient correlation of State and Trait. The reliability coefficients were computed using Cronbach alpha. In order to determine the validity of the instrument used factor analysis and coefficient correlation were used. Results: The STAI was established with the reliability at .850. In addition, the construct validity of the STAI, as measured by factor analysis were found, the correlation between items (KMO) score .824 (>.30) and p=.000. Where, the State shows KMO=.818, p=.000, and Cronbach alpha found .797. Meanwhile, Trait proved KMO=.783, p=.000, and Cronbach alpha found .781. The results show that the reliability and validity of State Trait Anxiety Inventory was suitable and acceptable. Consistently, strong correlations between State and Trait scale scores provided supportive evidence for the instrument. The results are evident and it can be recommended as an instrument to measure anxiety level for similar studies.

In this paper, we present a pilot study of pre-post treatment toward overcoming anxiety in improv... more In this paper, we present a pilot study of pre-post treatment toward overcoming anxiety in improving academic performance for engineering's students. The anxiety level measurement was used to examine the effect of the intervention, as well to acquire the prior finding on the effectiveness of a treatment to reduce anxiety in improving academic performance. It is based on a pre post design to evaluate the effect of intervention by using breath per-minute (bpm) and grade point average (GPA). Six males and females engineering's students participated in this study. They received six sessions of treatment each for two hours of intervention. It includes breathing retreatment, relaxation, study coping skills. The results show that, the number of anxieties was significantly reduced which bpm shows t (2;5)= 4.788; p=.005 (p<.05). Furthermore, for GPA the difference is not significant with t (0;5)= -1.894; p=.117 (p>.05). Since all participants had reduced their anxiety level and improve their academic performance, we recommend that this intervention as an effective approach in reducing anxiety level.

Anxiety can be referred as an underlying source of students' fears during their study process. Se... more Anxiety can be referred as an underlying source of students' fears during their study process. Several researches have proposed and identified the anxiety sources among students. However, not many proposals are concerned on validating the instrument of study anxiety sources. In this paper, the validation of the instrument of study anxiety sources is described. For identifying study anxiety sources, a total 300 students of University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) participated in this survey during second semester in the academic year 2008/2009. Findings from 7 dimensions in identifying of study anxiety sources show that all items had achieved validity as analysed by factor analysis. These sources are exam anxiety, presentation anxiety, mathematics anxiety, language anxiety, social anxiety, family anxiety, and library anxiety. Since, the Cronbach alpha of reliability was acceptable, it can be concluded that the associations of students feeling, thought, and experiences toward study anxiety sources support the validity of the instrument.
