This study intended to examine the effect of Islamic financing modes on profitability of banking ... more This study intended to examine the effect of Islamic financing modes on profitability of banking institutions in Mogadishu Somalia. In detail, the study examined the effects of Murabaha (cost-plus) and of Mudarabah (profit sharing) on profitability of banking institutions in Mogadishu Somalia. The study used a correlational research design, and data were collected through self-administered questionnaire from 56 respondents. The results indicated that Murabaha and Mudarabah have a statistically significant positive effect on profitability of banking institutions. The findings reveal that a significant increase and adherence to these Islamic modes of financing is expected to significantly improve and increase the profitability of banking institutions. The study concludes that both Murabaha and Mudarabah are vital for Islamic bank performance and profitability. It is recommended to the management of Islamic banks to start putting into consideration clients' credit rating while determining the mark-up value and at the same time carry out regular and systematic visits to their partners to gain an insight into the operations of the joint venture businesses and also remind them to clear their obligations.

The study relies solely on secondary sources from reputable books and journals. It has been determined that entrepreneurship plays a critical role in empowering young individuals, as enables them to enhance their skills and competence, thereby increasing their employment prospects and income levels. Moreover, it recognizes that entrepreneurship training encompasses interdisciplinary programs designed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, foster innovation, and promote growth; these programs are instrumental in helping young people navigate social and economic challenges. The study proposes providing a comprehensive training approach for youth, particularly those residing in underdeveloped nations, while emphasizing the importance of integrating entrepreneurship policies into national plans and initiatives. Furthermore, the article suggests that development and educational institutions should implement structured entrepreneurship training programs to bolster employability by equipping young people with market-relevant competencies.

This study investigated financial crimes in Somali public sector. It intended to explicitly asses... more This study investigated financial crimes in Somali public sector. It intended to explicitly assess public workers" perception of financial crimes, as well as the primary causes and effects of financial crimes in Somali Public Sector. A descriptive research approach was used in this study, and a questionnaire was used to gather data from 160 participants. This research was guided by the Fraud Triangle Theory and Fraud Dimond Theory which describe pressure, opportunity, rationalization and capability as key factors for conducting financial crimes. Although these elements have a significant influence, the findings showed that opportunity mainly representing improper internal audit and control, poor governance and improper duty segregation is the most contributing element to financial crimes in Somali public sector. The findings also revealed that financial crimes disturb resource allocation, wealth distribution and socioeconomic development, resulting in poverty and loss of public trust in government institutions. The study concludes that the financial crimes in public sector of Somalia is alarming and is affecting the economy, quality of life, wellbeing, integrity and social progress. However, this study recommends that the Somali government should establish effective control mechanisms, apply appropriate budgetary strategies to ensure government financial soundness and establish/activate government anti-corruption bodies to combat any form of corruption and financial crimes. Furthermore, the government should develop strong legal frameworks to promote accountability and deter perpetrator. The research also recommends that the government implement e-government with the purpose of increasing transparency and public trust. Finally, the study recommends that international donors should help Somalia to develop strong public institutions by providing administrative and technical support, particular, public financial management system.

This study employed descriptive research design to assess the socioeconomic consequences of these crimes. The data were collected through questionnaire from 200 respondents. The study results indicate that financial crimes and corruption both have significant socioeconomic consequences by destroying public confidences, weakening public service delivery such as education, health service, it also demolishes private sector particularly small business growth which ultimately affect employment level, GPD and, life expectancy, defeat culture, values, ethics of the society and finally eliminates trust, partnership and collaboration among business organization, public institutions, and society.
